I remember a journalist from Performance Bikes magazine in the 90's stating "Northman Whitham's hanging off riding style was developed to search for 20p's on the track"
Met Whitham at the weekend, top bloke really down to earth,he has seen the post and remembers the race well!Pointed out Steve Ives was out in front until he ran off and that Foggy's bike was faster than his RGV!
I remember watching this live. What an awesome race between two of the best. It also really heralded the future dominance of the 4 strokes in this class.
Is this the same James Whitham that was riding the BSB bikes round at about 30 mph for his Eurosport feature last year? Haha,Don't worry James, time waits for no man-it just makes us love you even more! Hope James and Jack continue to grace the BSB series forever more, they really are the best commentary team ever.
I don't doubt it mate,Whit was one of my heroes when i got into biking in my teens. You don't loose it,you just appreciate the benefits of self preservation when you break rather than bounce!
this is one of my fave all time races....earlier in the race they were all over each other constantly passing, sliding and almost crashing...good to watch.
I agree two top blokes&I can't believe Foggy raced the same bike I now own!,Thanks to him&his daughter I once owned a Ducati 998 Matrix Reloaded edition!!.
@@mcopperwheat If I can find it and digitalise it, got to be careful it's not a Greenlight production like the IOM races as they take it down. Anyway at some point in the race Foggy shakes the back of James's seat as he passes. funny pair playing to the crowd.
@@pablomero6228 ThE bikes are not as "top technology" as F3 used to be...in fact they are 7" slower than MOTO3...but they are the most "together" races ever! Groups of 15-20 together all ThE race, every race....even hilarious! Impossible to know who is going 3rd or 4th...
I think i was there, we were standing just after the bridge. Excellent race and if I recall both were out later on 750's. I think Whit was on the GSXR then
Why didn't you know, they were blamed as THE MAIN CULPRITS for Global Warming ! RG500 CH (1989) Pepsi-Suzuki "Kevin Schwantz" GP Race Replica, Interestingly, the last of the street RG500s (the H model) had almost the same power output as the original works racers!
@@pabloperez4063 they are not faster. They just stopped developing the 2 strokes… when they raced together for 2002 season, development of 2t had stopped 2 years prior and still they were pretty close
Brilliant racing Foggy showing the heart of a Lion as usual. Well done Carl on winning the jungle challenge. You deserved it. The public saw you for what you are a great normal bloke! Well done mate .
