Hey Simon ! Great viddy. I have been drooling over the Plexitone for months now... Then I saw this. Today - I own a AC-Tone. Love it ! From low drive to more than enough. Similar to my ElectroHarmonix Soul Food ( more of mid-range tone). AC-Tone - perfect ! Your video sold me. Thank you !

Thanks for the comparison! This was really insightful others than in other demo videos I've seen so far. I think I'll give the AC-Tone a shot. Did you also tried it with a treble booster?

Very intersteng. I can't decide between the plexitone, plexitone lo gain or the Ac-tone. At least I would buy 2 of them because of stacking. But I can't decide! I would love to see a video with combining those 3 pedals :D! Thanks for the demos you have uploaded so far. In 2015 and 2018 :).

N Hoekstra Thank you 🙏 3 great pedals. The LO gain is the most “Plexi” IMO. The ACtone is great on low gain sounds. That’s how I use it. Original plexitone is hot rod Marshall. Cheers

@@SimonGotthelfMusic Will be the ac-tone and lo gain plexi be a good combo? Some sparkle cleans (ac-tone) and low gain plexi for example ac/dc, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard? Or would I need the high gain plexi for artist like that? Its hard to decide between the low gain plexi and high gain. Do you have some artists as reference point?

N Hoekstra if you are into Def Leppard amd Bon Jovi you need the high gain plexitone. And you could add the AC tone for different sounds. Cheers

Great video Simon. I'm a big fan of the PlexiTone, and have been considering the Lo-gain and AC-Tone for some time. It would be great if you got hold of the new Carl Martin Panama and maybe compared it to the PlexiTone. Thanks.

Nice comparison. I was really looking forward to hearing crunchy chords played on AC Tone, but you didn't play any at mid-high gain setting!

Usually when I think I need more gain, I turn down my over drive and find the tone I want. That thought makes me think about the plexi tone again. I have been back and forth, can’t decide. Both sound really great.

B Miller I agree, both are great pedals. I think the PT is often overlooked when it comes to great low gain sounds it has. I think it nailes the sound of a classic Plexi with medium gain. Cheers Simon

@@SimonGotthelfMusic So I ordered an AC Tone on Amazon for a steal (single channel unit picture), and what came? The original two channel! It's for studio use, so the big size is not an issue. The gods of tone have smiled on me. And it's all thanks to you!

Plexitone sounds great. I use one to drive my Marshall studio vintage head into distortion. With the amp set fairly clean it can add a lot of punch with the gain set at only 9 o’clock.

Just bought an AC TONE. Love the sound but I was shocked how much gain it has. The gain is off at 7 o'clock, and at 9 o'clock the gain is pretty huge from then on. Wish it had a wider gain sweep but it does sound great.

I agree. I like the sound of it when gain is almost off. All the rest is just too much.

Booze4Blues I have had 3 OCD pedals (vers 3 and 4) and really dig that pedal but never used it in a video. Maybe I should do a Big shootout 😊 thanks

Stan Esposito Hi Stan. I use a 412 vintage Marshall with 30w Celestions. But in this video I use an impulse response I made of that Marshall cab because I am sitting right in from of the cabinet . Amp is running through the Suhr Reactive Load and into my DAW with that IR. Cheers Simon

@@glennsteen4249 Yes I have. I had a small hand in the development of the pedal and did some prototype testing af the PlexiRanger. It is awesome. Basically a plexitone (low gain) with that trebleboost in front. Really good. However you can probably find a used plexitone for very little money and it is still a great pedal on its own

James Hi James. Thank you 😊 I always stack gain pedals (and comp before gain too) and I go from clean to really dirty. So for me the lowest gain box has to be first. Cheers Simon

¿Porque no ponen los pedales en alto al alcance de la mano? Sobre una silla o taburete. Evitarian tener que agacharse y cortar el sonido cada vez que hacen un pequeño cambio.
