Karl Stamitz was the father of the so-called "Mannheim" school, the avant-garde of Germany at the turn of half XVII°century. Mozart learned a lot from them. They experimented a lot, and namely in the interesting form of the double concerto. Here, we have a double concerto for flute and oboe, by two worldwide known virtuosos: Aurèle Nicolet and Heinz Holliger. The fact that these famous virtuosos have benn intertesed by this concerto proves its value. It is a pity that the classicism then the romantism left such a little room to double conceros. The concerto of Brahms for violin and cello is indeed a great exception.
