Here is another of my archive interviews with celebrities to mark their birthdays. 18th August is the birthday of the singer, actor and frontman of The Move in the 1960s, Carl Wayne.
PLEASE LIKE & SUBSCRIBE if you can. There are many more of these interviews on the channel and many more to come.
Carl enjoyed success in the charts with The Move and a string of hits including "Night of Fear", "I Can Hear The Grass Grow", "Flowers in the Rain", "Fire Brigade", and their number one hit "Blackberry Way".
He released several singles and albums as a solo artist, sang on countless adverts, jingles and TV themes and sang on albums for ELO and Mike Oldfield. In his acting career he had a small role in the Birmingham-based soap opera, Crossroads, and in 1974 married Susan Hanson, another member of the cast. His most acclaimed stage role was as the narrator in Willy Russell's Blood Brothers between 1990 and 1996. In 2000 he joined The Hollies.
He told me about The Move stage act which occasionally saw him taking an axe to television sets, or taking a chainsaw to a Cadillac.

Carl Wayne was a wonderful person and extremely kind in his nature. I got to know him when he was singing at The Talk of London in the late 80’s and I cannot tell you what a great live vocalist he was. I last met him when he was playing the narrator in Blood Brothers and we exchanged numbers. Sadly, I never got to see him again and was totally devastated when I found out he passed away. One of the nicest persons I have ever had the pleasure to meet and I often think about him and how lucky I was for his friendship. Tragically taken from this earth far too soon. You will always be remembered fondly by those people who were lucky enough to have known you. RIP Carl 🙏

That was one thing that separated Carl from many others. He always had time for anyone who wanted to have a chat and was so genuine. It was never about himself.
