Carlo is a dream husband: handsome, industrious, clever, jack of all trades, good-natured, easy-going, adoring, lovable, family man. You are the luckiest woman in the world!
I like the railing. It added charm. I worry the dogs will walk right off the end of the step. I wish we could have seen more of the first salvage shop. It was intriguing and something we don’t have here in Canada or at least not such old lovely things. I hope you go back to that shop. Thanks for sharing ❤ Love to sweet Holly
I absolutely love the railing! It’s just beautiful and practical. If you wish to have it metallic, they do have metallic spray paint which you can go outside or in the back room, just put down a drop cloth and against the wall as well and open the windows and doors. It’s pretty easy to do if that is what ypu want. You can paint them any color really. When spray painting..better to spray it gently once on each side.wait for it to dry then gently again...so you don’t get streaks. It gets the best coverage but you cannot overdo ..better to do a couple of go’s after waiting for it to dry completely..which is pretty fast actually. Outside it needs to be a non windy calm day...or you can get bugs and dirt blowing into it. Not to mention dog hair, etc..🌟
Nicki the bannister is a beautiful feature - the problem is the powdercoat finish. A faux copper & verdigris matt finish would be fabulous and match with your new sofa, blend with the stair tiles and add an authentic tuscan charm.
Sneaky girls, Carlo wont trust you alone in renovation again!! It is all coming along and beginning to look amazing. How lucky you are in Italy where there are stores that sell such a huge selection of pre-loved furniture items. I must confess I am freaked by pre-loved items so never touch them, but can watch others select and make them beautiful again. enjoy your renovations and take good care, all the very best to Carlo's dad on his recovery. A great week to you all. 🥰
I think it's beautiful too, and since the red floral curtains are going to be a focal point for design/colors, the floral banister painted a matte black would be a lovely complement as well.
The railing could be painted the same white as the walls, to blend in, but provide a pop of texture. I love all your experiments, and such fun to see your friends and Skye joining in the adventure. Waiting for Carlo’s thoughts. Hello, Julie! ✌️❤️🏘️
I think the railing should be painted black or even a matte black, to mimic wrought iron. It’s a really lovely feature and would hate to see it not used…not to mention the safety issues without it! 😮
I see Carlo getting so much love in the comments. Yet there are only a couple of comments about him being laughed at for struggling with English (minute 9:09). He's made so much progress and didn't deserve that, especially after making the effort to find out about the pricing of the tiles. I guess, as the saying goes, "no good deed goes unpunished!"
Sorry Nicki, but I'm with Carlo on this one. I love the wrought iron railing! 😮. It's only that yellow color that I don't care for. I kept trying to picture them in black, lol. Anyway, it's good to see your beautiful Skye again😊. Thanks for my weekly getaway 😉! Your land and the countryside there are simply breathtaking ❤. God bless your family 🙏.
I am one of those who love the bannister 😢😢😢😢 It has character. I think One of the top things i love about the house Sad. Anyway it is how you like it.
She's pretentious and fake. We started following Nicky and Carlo for their simply approach and way of life , now Nicky's plastic friends are ruining everything. Time to look for s new account to follow
YES!....@ 9:08 Carlo has created a new word for the English language, and I accept. My Sunday is off to a great start for a chill day. I got my coffee and "Nicki Positano" is on my TV. LOL! @ Celine and Nicki acting like bandits with Carlo away. Thanks! guys for the life I live vicariously through you in Italy. Enjoy! the day.
@@lenoxlenox9447I understood him very well and was even confused as to why the two of them were laughing! 🤔🤣 We non-native speakers of English do the best we can in every situation, we even invent new words! 😂 Everything's fine as long as we understand each other!
Take it or leave it suggestion: The tile will last longer than the curtains so make sure it's something that you can live with when you're tired of the curtains, but also, don't let the tile have too much similar design to your curtains or it will be a scene stealer. 😊
I think a good balance between you and Carlo. I think the banister is necessary for safety considering those stairs are marble and I'm sure you can spray painted metallic or something.
Well, Carlo can make a rail on the stairs wall just for security. If they put the sofa under the stairs, there won’t be any problem if they fall😅 they will fall down on the sofa.😂😂. Just kidding Nicki and Carlo ❤.
When I first saw the banister I thought it was gold-coloured and quite a nice feature in an otherwise blank room. I now realise it's yellow and agree that's not so nice, but if it were possible I'd sand blast it and spray it gold. I don't think it's wise to not have a banister there. Myself I don’t like the look of it without, but it's not up to me! 😄 That was a great reclamation yard, I'd want everything. Now I know why many Italian homes look so elegant and beautiful 😊
Think you’re mad taking down the bespoke bannister. Looked far more ‘finished’ with it. Very dangerous without any bannister anyway. Would have thought your dad needed it if visiting.
I felt bad when you were laughing at Carlo's English. I grew up in a Dutch speaking family being the first American. I got laughed at when I spoke Dutch. Therefore I do not speak it it. That was a humiliating moment for him. Not cool.
You Positano people take stairs like mountain goats right now, but if you trip on the stairs you will wish you had that banister to grab. Also you will get older and wish it was there to hold onto. Please keep the banister for safety !
I'm not fond of staircases without some kind of handrail. Especially if a person has got wonky and painful knees, or for elderly people who feel insecure on their legs. The one that those two very naughty girls removed was rather unique and might look nice in a toned down colour. Sigh! I miss Tuscany so much, it is probably the most beautiful region in Italy. Seeing the beautiful countryside surrounding Nicki's property reminds me of Lucca, where I lived for 23 years. Modena just isn't the same.😪
Goodness.., keep the bannister! People pay a fortune for them… your colours should be cream and sage for everything with the hydrangea colour to be only 10 percent.. example cushion, art or few decor items and your house would look stylish, homey and beautiful. Just saying not every item or area has to have all 3 colours remember 60 cream 30 sage and 10 cranberry..my 2 cents worth 🥰
I love the staircase banister!!! It gives your home a little class. It's the vocal point of your home. It sold me when I saw it. I've never seen one so so beautiful.
I love Julie, the American Vicountess. Her passion for British History and her British husband's family's legacy is endearing. Prince Harry should have married someone as lovely and respectful as Julie ❤
I think it looks cleaner without the banister, but... for safety I would still want to have something there just in case. Maybe a glass one would look nice. It still gives a clean look, but with a bit more safety. Just my opinion. 😁
I have to say, I am with Carlos on this one. The stair railing should be kept in place. It is beautiful and unique. I think it simply needs to be painted black or antiqued brown. It would have more of a presence and look aged. Please put back, you will be happy if simply made darker.
Sunday wouldn't be Sunday without you.... Love everything you do, no airs & graces, just real life, lovely family. The house is already lived in, and just hope Carlo doesn't notice the stair rail 😂 Love from Spain ❤
I wasn't a lover of the banister, think it looks so much better gone. Those salvage places are my heaven, love rummaging around and finding something special. Stunning scenery. 🙂
Taking off the banister with Carlo being gone actually felt quite calculating and mean. If that’s your marriage, good for you. That felt quite uncomfortable.
You did such a good job designing the tiles for your kitchen in Positano . Get what you really , really want by designing new tiles for the Tuscan house and getting them fabricated in Positano again .
Oh noooo. Please leave the bannister in place but paint it black. It will be more subtle as opposed to the yellow. It is so Tuscan and truly fits the house. The stairs without the iron bannister are just that... stairs. The bannister gives character!! #TeamCarlo
Weighing in...The handrail is gorgeous, but it looks French provincial (don't tell Carlo) and would go well with a small chandelier, some Louis the VX furniture, and some chic accents. Not really country cottage style. Good luck.
Paint the banister black! This is your house for your older years you’ve said…. Banisters are utterly necessary for senior knees - trust me on that!!! Nor is it safe when you get grandchildren!!!
......nothing to do with me...but I rather like the iron banisters.....if they were sprayed with hammerite metal paint in black....or cream, while not attached...... they would look super! That pink enamel bath as a plunge pool in the garden....WOW! don't know how much it was....😁Sandi xxx
My thoughts are that Carlo should of been involved in the removal of the lower ornate bannister. It is truly a Italian unique statement piece. Maybe it would of been nice to paint the railing a nice gun metal color and live with it for awhile. Having the upper piece of bannister untouched looks disjointed and out of place. Possibly an option to consider!!!!
Hi N & C… thank goodness Carlos‘s dad is fine… doing things behind Carlos’s back? You naughty girls, just kidding, (I’d probably do the same thing. ). 😂 I love it when women who do not have enough ”handyman” skills try to do a project, bravo to you ladies, it’s definitely doable. 👍 The stairs rail is so pretty and has character, what if you painted it your favorite green.? Honestly, overall, you and Carlo are so amazing at working together and Nikki you are definitely creative and have wonderful energy. So far so good with your new lovely Haven. 🙏💜🙏💜🙏💜
Found you about 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching ever since! Love all your videos. Carlo keep speaking English and Italian, it is why we follow you and Nicki!🌞 You are blessed with an amazing life, living in two beautiful parts of the world. Look forward to visiting Positano in October.🌍
I am glad to hear Carlo's father is improving and hope he comes home soon. I am very much enjoying all of your adventures in and aroundbTuscany!! However, just a thought, I am not sure of the wisdom of not having a banister, especially for the higher stairs on that section. You could possibly find a banister more subtle in design that still offers the safety of going up and down the stairs. I have known others who thought they liked the look of open stairs without a banister. Then they realized, after traversing up and down, that there was a safety issue. So you may want to reconsider and find a very simple banister that could be painted the same color as the walls so it blends in. 'Just a suggestion. You live in such a gorgeous part of Tuscany!! I love it. Can't wait for your next video!!❤
One vlog a week isn't enough for me🙂 i look forward to Sunday's with such anticipation.. . everything is coming along beautifully 🙂🙏 love from South Africa 🙂btw ... The bannister looked good there, just a change of colour perhaps
It is quite clear that Italy has no building codes. For safety reasons, replace the step railing. If you can't live with the metal railing, then replace it with another less ornately choice. Congrats to Carlo for using English. I would rather look at his face when he speaks rather than reading captions.
If I understood correctly, I'm wondering why the banister that you took down can not be painted a different color? It definitely seems it would be safer having a hand rail for youngsters or elderly guests. Just curious.🤔 I enjoy your channel, and your lovely Tuscan farm and olive grove is quite enchanting!
I agree with getting rid of the, lovely but doesn't fit your style of shabby chic (my fav), banister but you might want to check out if you will HAVE to have a banister of some sort for safety reasons. Especially since you will have paying guests.
I love that salvage yard. Pretty sure I’ve been there via RU-vid with another Tuscany resident Kylie….I think her name is. However, you need to go back and get the tub and maybe some tiles for the little verandah area.
While the cats away the mice will play springs to mind.. the room looks so much nicer without that bannister. Can’t wait to see his reaction and the new couches in place..
Oh noooooooo why did it end........i was loving it so much. Sorry Nicky but these videos just arent long enough......we need a bumper edition. Only kidding. Thanks for yet another great vlog. See you next sunday. ❤
Removing that bannister was a good idea - can’t wait to hear what Carlo thinks. I also like the colour you painted that outside wooden wall. Doesn’t matter that it’s not an exact match to one adjoining wall, and it blends better with the darker wall colour. Another great video, thanks🇦🇺😎🦘
