@@roydondsa yeah med won’t make it back to number 1 , Rafa will play even less tournaments after his latest injury and Novak is a big question mark for me. Carlos already looks superior to zverev, tsisipas , rublev to me. Carlos will probably become number 1 at some point in the next two years. Rafa will probably finish this year as year end number 1 if he makes his comeback before Rome and next year novak will probably regain most of his dominance but that kid alcaraz looks like the third best player to me right now if we leave the ranking aside.

This guy has more potential tham the ones called next gen. He is faster, good with his defensive game, one of the best base lines games with his forehan and bakchand, and a great returner with good velley skills when he decides to go to the net. He just needs to improve his drop shots and to have some strategy becausw sometimes it looks he gives everything with every shot he hits.

I think real tennis fans were concerned with the state of tennis after BIG3. LETS FACE IT- THEY'RE ALL MID 30S- MID 40S. Their era is over. Am a huge Nadal fan but i accept the truth. And i was scared it would be run by the Kyrgios' the Zverevs and Tsitsipas', just all round sore sour losers. But Carlos, Ruud even Janick Sinner renew my hope for a strong feature

The forehands these guys were hitting were insanely big, some absolute rockets by both guys. Ruud even averaged (!) 91mph on the forehand midway through the first, but that level was not sustainable. Alcaraz is just insane tho, if he stays injury free there’s lots of Masters and Majors to go his way. Hope Ruud gets his big title soon, such a nice, humble and fair guy, he really deserves it

Alcaraz is living up to the hype but I have two words of caution for him: Burn and out. (Let's hope he doesn't get fed up with the whole thing. ) Kyrgios, on the other hand, has convinced himself he's a big star and Master 1000/GS material. So careful with your words -- he might take offence and threaten to retire. Or worse, promise to continue to be a pest on the tennis court. LOL!
@Dark_Voice

Thing is, some play for glory, some play to compete, some play to play their best in a job they love AND some play for fun - which is Kyrgios. He doesnt give a damn about titles or winning IF he is not having fun. It wont break any records for him BUT he's happy which is what life is about.

Both Alcaraz and Ruud are deserving but only one could hoist the Miami Trophy. They’re definitely two of my favorite players on tour right now. Great tennis players with no negative traits. Wish them both the best. Congratulations to Alcaraz, he’s well ok his way to greatness
@jacobschmidt2709

Nah. If anybody else was deserving of the championship trophy, it would have been Kecmanovic. Ruud may get a couple of clay masters, but he's never winning a big title on hardcourt. Ruuds run was a fluke because of the easy draw he got. He faced Cerendulo in the semis and a Zverev who's level has drastically dropped this year. Alcaraz had a much tougher road to the final. That all being said, Ruud did pretty well in this final all things considered. He started well and made the match competitive, but we all knew he couldn't sustain that level to beat the superior player.

The biggest difference between Alcaraz and the three most successful challengers of the top guns in recent years -- Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev -- is his mental status. Championship men's tennis requires not only incredible physical devotion involving many hours of tortuous physical exercising and game practice each day, but also an incredible level of mental focus, especially in big moments of big matches. Numerous times in major matches, those three went toe to toe against the top guns, but ultimately failed, either because they blinked in the big moments, or because they cracked at closing time and could not serve out a set or match. What is mind boggling about Alcaraz is not only that he has developed such an assortment of abilities at such a young age, from drop shots to lobs to crosscourt sideline-to-sideline forehands to phenomenal full-court defense, but that he seems to have no problem going up even against the top players in the top matches of the top tournaments, and being so calm, confident and mentally focused at what he needs to do to win each point. If God grants him physical health and longevity, it has hard not to imagine this phenom challenging even the monumental achievements of the big three.
