As a former catcher, although not at the mlb level, I understand how hard it is to balance defensive duties, calling a game and trying to make an impact with the bat. This is more challenging than any other position in baseball. Alvarez is just 22 and in postseason play for the first time. Let him learn; he’s a quick study! I think he is going to get 2 significant hits today with runners in scoring position. 🎉
DESDE BROOKLYN NY TE DIGO ESTO OTRA VEZ. TE APRECIAMOS Y ESTO ES UNA AYUDA. CHEQUEA Y ANALISA ESTO EN EL BATEO. TRES CLASSICOS SON : HERMAN KILLEBREW , CARL RIPKEN JR , HANK AARON, JOHNNY BENCH. BUENAS MANERAS QUE AYUDAN SIIII👍😉
it’s insane. always needs to be a scapegoat. the guy that put this pitching staff together and gave them the confidence to get this far is apparently our worst player.
I don't feel sorry for him. He will make millions and accountability is part of the game. He's regressed.... mightily.... this season in regard to power numbers and his ability to come through in key situations. I agree that he's young and will be a top catcher in the future. That doesn't negate the fact that he's struggled and that he seems not to have made changes that help him in his approach at the plate. It seems he is stubborn in that regard. Again.... his future is bright but he certainly has to be a factor at the plate if they have any chance to win a championship. He's made a name for himself because he has the ability to crush a baseball and he's been one of the easiest outs in the lineup for much of the season. Growing pains are real.... you often learn the most through your failures. If he reaches his potential he will have grown from his experience this season.
He's batting less than .45 and making terrible throwing decisons in the playoffs, Id argue, he cost us the game yesterday, the fist 2 runs were his fault. The lights are too bright for him.
you guys did it to Terry, and Buck and now w Carlos, when he wins - Mayor of New York, Manager of the Year, when he loses - expletive unprintables! Carlos is a great manager, keeps guys cool, collected, slows the game down enough for them, and believes in them, He will come thru for us. Patience in NY is a long lost virtue, Tim Keller might have spoken of such things there once.
I grew up in NY, but the sportswriters are merciless hypocrites, Francisco y Carlos son buenos corazones, y en poco es super estrellas - what will you guys do next year when he hits 40-45 HR knocks in over 120 RBI and hits near .300? He's 21 against the most elite pitchers on the planet, the kid is learning and has come so far. What is not to love about him and his manager and GM? In due time he will rise, and when he does, were I him, I'd have to be leery if not wonder - where were you guys in the past, supporting me or against me? If the public held the reporters to the fire as much as they do the entertaining performers what a great world this would be, we could trust them, and enjoy the news.
this kid is an amazing generational talent - his mind is fine, leave it alone ... he has learned a pitching staff, he calls a great game, he has learned the art of framing, has a good arm when pitchers hold runners honest, and we know since the end of 2022 he has more power than Alonso and is much like Vientos, just a harder position - by the way, he has also learned English, all at just 21 yrs old now how was you guys resume at 21 what potential "flash" did you show, that Fernando hasn't
At least this guy speaks the language, you know and defers if he doesn't understand. Why is it the Japanese players in this day in age still can't utter a sentence. I'm SouthEast Asian and feel that when they are in the world stage like this, they should be able to. It's like they've been playing baseball for decades and have international players there as well....they seem stubborn.
Do you really think, Nimmo, Lindor, Francisco here would say, no I'm hurting, in October all play hurt ... the kid nearly broke his thumb after a .316 start, healthy, next year he will RIP the COVER off the ball and RAKE - you guys should be mostly ashamed of yourselves
The Mets are dealing with an issue they've had for years...... they're best in their second and third plate appearances at the plate against the starting pitcher. Unfortunately.....the Dodgers pull their starters quickly..... therefore the Mets need to adjust immediately to the starter. They're not good in most early inning at bats. It's something I've noticed with them for years. Too many scoreless early innings because they need to see one or two plate appearances before they know what to expect. They're not going to get that with LA.... so they better watch lots of film on every Dodger's pitcher. It's about doing your homework!!!!
Francisco works harder than all of you put together, do you guys after a crappy column, come in early the next day, make adjustments, or ask your boss how you can be better? I would vouch to say, No way Jose which is why most media is dishonest and hypocritcal
plz don't get into Rookies and Newbies and Young Pitchers heads, you mess them up, playing with their fragile confidence, don't you realize BASEBALL is mostly MENTAL and BEHAVIORAL?
This is like hey Samson what is the secret of your strength, and for awhile he doesn't tell Delilah, and the moment he does, they cut his hair off, gouge his eyes out, put him on display like a circus carnival to ridicule make fun of, and be a slave for the work they're too lazy to do ... and you guys do and expect the same as Francisco best for you guys to EXCUSE yourselves from these kind of dumb interviews because all you do is make these guys skewers for the other teams Some METS fans you are Why not ask the same questions of the opposition and their manager, then we might learn something useful
