He's plainly "sitting in' here so what impresses me is the way Quinn is so fully "there", so fully relaxed, and digging it like he's been in Santana's band for years.
To have legendary Carlos Santana call out your name to the audience like that would be mind blowing. The young Mr. Sullivan has played with some of the biggest names and yet remain grounded. Props to his parents for raising such a awesome young man. I hope for the chance to see him in person.
Quinn plays guitar since age 3. When he was 7 years old Buddy Guy toured through his hometown and called Quinn on stage to play with him. And guess who had the last note and laugh at this battle. From this moment on Buddy Guy was his Mentor and took him in the school holydays to places like Red Rocks, Eric Claptons Crossroads, Gathering of the Vibes ... the list is endless. BB King and Buddy Guy told once in an interview they gave that Quinn Sullivan is the greatest guitar talent in the past 40 years. There is nothing else to say. Keep on rolling young man.
its so great that nowadays we have so many records of him from an early young age to see his career improvement thanks to cameras and youtube. Imagine the old days with this tech. shit i sound like a boomer, but its true
Keep Quinn away from drugs & drink , then he will master them all. Go man go. I'm 71 & I could get down to this. My backbone & legs JUST want to move. Which is amazing when you consider my arthritis. LOVE, love it!
I would LOVE to see Carlos and Quinn do a show with Buddy Guy and Michael Corleto at Bank of NH in Gilford next year. It would be an amazing Blues experience!!! Can you make it happen??? PLEASE!!!
I saw Quinn and Buddy play together about 4 years ago in Lowell, MA. I was BLOWN AWAY by this young man extraordinaire!! I LOVE BANK OF NEW HAMPSHIRE PAVILLION!!!! Going to see Dave Matthews Band there for a third summer this year!
Props to Quinn for being patient and being a great rhythm player ... and then when he had his chance... made his statement. What the heck are they feeding these kids... I think it started with Derek Trucks and he is arguably blowing everyone away right now... but I think Quinn is definitely getting there.
I think Derek Trucks is the best "young" active electric guitar player right now.... I agree that Quinn is setting himself up to achieve really great things with the guitar
with all due respect to Santana, Quinn's solo was by far the highlight of this performance. I first saw him in the now famous video with Buddy Guy where he's all of what, 7 or 8 (and looks even younger) and he just kills it, and "kills" Buddy Guy too, been a fan ever since. a grounded, stand-up kid (OK "kid" to me, I'm old) too. anyone who isn't talking about or at least appreciating this great talent for many years to come is simply clueless.
I remember Neal Schon jumping into this song with Carlos back in the 70's in an outdoor festival in N.C.! He looked just like he was seeing heaven! I hope you also get a chance to jam with Neal, Quinn! God Bless you, Carlos, and all the band members who keep life fun!
I just now looked down and saw that this is Quinn's channel. I started following him when he was a child. Check him out doing a solo onstage, in Portland, with Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang.
That must have been quite a blast for you. Up there playing with a living legend! And I think you did quite well but maybe tried a little too hard. I think you just tried to squeeze in a few too many notes at times to the detriment of the feel of the solo, the flow was interrupted slightly once or twice, but it was still really great.
All the players look like they are having a good time except that female drummer. She looks terrified and winded and like she can't keep up the pace. She is playing well but still, she looks like the only one not enjoy the music. The other drummer is smiling and seems to be having a really good time. Odd!
