I wish Carlos Santana would live to 200 years old so all humans can enjoy his love and music. What a great man.Rock on Mr Santana. We all love your music.
I recently bought an old Yamaha SG 1000 tobacco sunburst guitar and it's definitely one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played. Definitely up there with my Les Pauls.
This theme is the most beautiful piece ever made. No minutes shredding festival, but careful chosen chunks of melody which still surprise me, after having heard it so many times. Samba Pa Ti is Carlos demonstrating composing and guitar skills at the same time. Lets listen again.
Jesus, this is the Lord singing. experienced this live, and could feel the love energy coming through into my hands. he spoke and he explained what he was doing, which is self-evident. 'Somos rodeados, completemente rodeados, con Angeles'
That's right! So many people forget (or don't realize) that the MESA/Boogie Mark I had as much to do with his classic tone and sustain back in the day.
I have a '77 SG2000 in black. Have had it for many years. In the far future, Gibson Les Pauls will be Stradvari and SG2000s will be Guarneri. Nothing touches them for that one, unbeatable tone...
Totally agree but carlos has also changed his amp setting and use both Mesa Boogie Mark I, Dumble and Bludotone amp. Even during his long time with PRS his guitar tone has changed considerably. Just watch clips of Santana mid 80s vs. 90's until new. His guitar tone became more bluesy (less trebled) and he always works both the volume and treble knob to get different tones. More recently Carlos has started to use PRS single cut (very similar layout as Gibson Les Paul and the beloved Yamaha SG2000), which gives him even more tonal options.
I love this song that you’re playing I could listen this is in times a day oh it’s really great I really feel it too God bless you and keep them coming Mary
Pete's favourite piece of guitar playing. I chose it to be played as we walked into church behind his West Ham coffin. Forever and a day or two brownie, I love you, always xxx
Yes he did, that's why he married me. Could I ask you a favour? My computer is playing up, Won't let me into Windows and can only access the Internet for emails etc. Please tell everyone I am fine but out of touch at the moment. Thanks flower. xxx
Masterful wouldn't even be enough to describe his style.. It's even way beyond cosmic.. As though everything inside his heart, soul and thoughts emanate through whatever brand of guitar he wields.. But of all the guitars he held, his godly choice of notes totally said their best when played on a Yamaha SG (hands down).. ❤
Every single note has feeling. It's all about the music. Not one element of "hey look how fast I can play." New generation of guitar players, take note.
Great video, thank you ! What a beautiful guitar. I like this Yamaha much better than the PRS that he plays now. My all time favorite was the sunburst Les Paul Deluxe he played from 71 through 74....and then came the Gibson L6-s which I liked too. I'd rather see him playing his original Gibson SG than the PRS's......I just don't like his tone as much now. It sounds over processed and synthetic to my ears. The Gibson Les Paul he played with the Mesa Boogie Mk 1 had a haunting and beautiful tone I haven't heard him get since. God bless.
BluesLicks101 There is another matter. Although Carlos live always plays well, from about 72' onto maybe the early 80's, Carlos heavily utilized a lot of jazz ideas in his solos. He still uses those ideas, but maybe only 50% of the time he used to. I do agree that the Yamaha SG(whatever) overall was a rather more versatile and colorful sounding guitar than the PRS guitars Carlos now plays. It's true, sometimes he sounds as if he has a distortion pedal built into the PRS. Just remember, though, If Carlos really wanted a sweeter, or more velvety tone, he could play with his amp knobs more, but apparently he likes his current sound.
Thank you for this upload. I was 13 at the time and i saw the show in Belgium in '81, german television. Rockpalast was on sundays between 0:00 and 1:00. Always a fight with the parents to see the show.
