Black cannot push his Pawn without protecting it with his King. In the meanwhile, the white King moves to attack the Pawn. White just needs to move his King, whereas Black has to move the Pawn AND the King. So, there will be a moment when the black Pawn is attacked by both the white King and the white Rook before it reaches the last rank. When the Pawn is lost, the game is as well.
As they say it is not how fast you win, but how sure the win is. Trading down to the rook and pawn endgame with blacks king way offside proved to be a winning endgame.
Hikaru is one of the greatest chess players of all time and you can watch him shredding other high level players almost every day on Twitch/ Kick 🤠 No seriously, he's an absolute prodigy. Consistently hovers around 2800 elo , reached grandmaster at a younger age than Fischer, 10th highest elo rating of all time and performs well in classical tournaments and extremely well in blitz tournaments. He's more than just a live streamer, he's a legendary player.
@@at0micsheep IMHO, not correct. In events he's strong in, usually great I use to think all his live streaming interfered with his chess; what with all the din of emojis; but he consistently ranks near the top of the tourneys he's strong in (usually fast time controls). It has been my impression that he's NEVER a player to take lightly, in my inexpert, inadequately researched opinion. Just, Magnus is just really, really good. Greats of all time, arguable. I suppose an engine might be able to estimate his strength vs. Morphy, Capa, Fisher, and Kasperov. Hikaru isn't in that league, but IMHO, damn close for not having been classical champion.
@@at0micsheep I see what you're saying and I agree, he'll never be famed like Fischer, Kasparov, Magnus etc But he is a bit of a menace over the board. Many really strong chess players like Maurice, Finegold or Gotham are also prodigious but there's levels to the game and Hikaru is just a monster on the board.
when you count out the moves white king catches up because black has to move his king and pawn together. Once the white king touches the pawn the rook can take and black can't capture back
Hikaru could have had a draw at the end my protecting his pawn his his king, I saposed Magnus would of attacked his his king aswel but I would of tried 😂
7:19 After black Rook take H4, White can bring his King to E6, then F7. Black can do nothing but force to xchange all the pieces. After xchanging White King will take all the Black pawn and easy win bcos Black King stuck in the corner.
