It didn’t get discontinued the new owners of Remington or whatever is going on there released the new 870s and I’m here to tell you I just got a 870 hardwood home defense and it’s beautiful and better quality than the late pre-bankruptcy guns. At least that’s what everyone is saying. I don’t have one to compare it to but like I said mine is super nice! Came with a drilled and tapped receiver and nice barrel clamp sling mount fit and finish is pretty good also.
Nice shooting my friend, i have the same shogun with the sintetic stock, a gunsmith cut the barrel to 18/2 inch and is the smooth cilinder bore. I'm thinking about buying a Carlson barrel because it comes with a choke and it's probably more accurate, thumbs up great video, take care and stay safe.
Wow the Remington 870 has been discontinued! I must have just bought a very good knock-off. I would swear it is a real 870. It even came with a real Remington barrel. Not a cheap knock-off like you bought. I guess I'll keep the barrel and throw away the phony gun it came with. Thanks for the the great information.
So I'm just saying barrel of 18-34 still pattern the same in at 40 yards with the same choke. Coming from multi national trapshooting championship winner legend😊
Is that a rifled barrel or smooth bore barrel?? If it's a smooth bore then the sabot slugs aren't too accurate. I have a 26" smooth bore barrel on my 870 and use Remington rifled slugs for deer. My dad has a rifled barrel and uses sabot slugs. He tried rifled slugs once years ago and it wasn't accurate
It's smooth barrel. That's why I've been hanging on to the sabot slugs. Definitely need a rifled barrel but I don't hunt with slugs so it's hard for me to justify purchasing one lol.... eventually I will though. Thanks for watching
@@Spidermonkey2a I've been deer hunting with shotgun for almost 30 years now. Man, how time flies. I've always used rifled slugs. I've become pretty good with where to aim. I put done a 6 point which was running full speed at 70 yards. Another time, I got a doe which was 118 yards away with a slug. Which isn't nothing for a slug but I was only 15 and it was a proud moment lol.
@@Spidermonkey2a I think you'll like hunting with slugs. I have a Remington 870 fieldmaster which can shoot 3.5" shells. 3" slugs are good enough for me. But they kick lol. My dad turkey hunts and uses 3.5 inch shells. I fired 2 shells, never again lol.
Ya know..... I've looked at every inch of that darn shotgun and all it says is Remington 870..... lol. I believe it may be the old express. But if it's not, it's a plain Jane 870. Thanks for watching
