Charlie Rose talks with Carly Simon from her NYC apartment about her engagement to Russ Kunkel and how James Taylor feels about it. www.carlysimonmusic.com/music/Spoiled_Girl.html
Carly could have been an actress as well, she has the most gorgeous face, hair, body, voice, and talent, she has a bit of a blend of Angelina Jolie mixed with Mary Tyler Moore (her smile)... big smile, just a wonderful lady and singer/songwriter / performer, I hope you all the love and happiness in the world Carly .. fan in Kalamazoo
that was great but I love the two 1972 interviews. more of those please. but anyway, I remember Carly saying that she and Russ had decided that they were better at being just friends.
Russ Kunkel is the famed session drummer from the "The Section" he and Leland Sklar (Legendary Bassist) are some of the most recorded of all time on their instrument. You might have never heard of them, but you have heard their music... They played on James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carole King Tapestry, Jackson Browne, to call him James Taylor's drummer is only somewhat accurate, and truly a disservice to all of the greats he has played with / for. I think they are on over 2,500 recorded albums.... think about that...
Okay Sunset Captiva , since you know so much of the history, perhaps you can shed some light on...is this the drummer that was the one that turned James on to heroin? (that ultimately became the demise of his relationship with Carly ...among other things)
People are blaming Charlie Rose here (of course), but it takes two to tango. This interview was a perfect storm thanks to both sides. Very uncomfortable to watch.
Sounds kind of sketchy situation to me for her to get involved with James drummer. Glad it didn't work out for the sake of all the relationships involved, including the children.
@@fairyqueen56 I think that was the drugs James was on AT THE TIME. He is a completely different man now. One of the nicest men you could ever meet. I know! I have met him many times. I also think that they married too young and that was also a contributing factor.
Carly is a GEM and it's to bad that James Taylor could not respect her quality. Any man she chose would be blessed and honored. I never ever saw her in person but ... I love her.
dating a friends' ex - never a good thing. -spoken by someone who DID date someone's ex. One college teamey (hoop) dated ALL of my ex's. The moment our split was evident? My ex-teamey was all over them - all of them - We no longer reminisce about the old HS and college games. -finished us off as friends. .
Same as dating a brother’s ex. When any of my good buddies date a girl i like, they (the girls) become like sisters to me. Even if they eventually split, they are like taboo to me.
Oh, I always could care less about her. You folks that think you know her, know her only from the facet she chooses to show in front of the camera. She's probably not at all what you think or wish she was.
@@joelewing4498 I liked her but she has some upety up attitude at time! For instance I read that a small dress shop owner on Martha's Vineyard was agitated when Carly showed up at 10 minutes to the closing hour n wanted to view stuff for couple of hours n then not purchase anything only to leave! I dunno if that's true for certain but it sounds pretty mean to have to put up with that treatment! She's really wealthy so she can afford to do some inconsiderate stuff n face little consequences! Lol
What is Charlie Rose thinking? He's asking her unanswerable, unknowable questions. She answered correctly, "You'll have to ask me in about 3 months". That is codespeak for "Who the heck knows, and why are you asking such a ridiculous question?"
Yes. Kunkel and Larson were married from 1990 until her death in 1997 at 45 (..from "complications arising from cerebral edema..triggered by liver failure"). 😥
