Only 10 of his 62 came from the free throw line. When KD and others have big games so many of those points come from the stripe. Melo is PURE. No flops, no special whistles, just basket after basket. This man is incredible

john doe yet he is still under estimated. I cannot believe he is not compared with LeBron and kd. Lebron is over estimated. whenever hes going for a game winner he drives in the paint. he just lays it up. that's too easy to do. plus its easier for him due to the fact that he is strong as hell and can pummel the inside. Carmelo though, he is pure. he doesn't go inside for a game winner. if hes open and can just walk inside then he will. but that's hardly the case.he can shoot in,out mid, close. ANYWHERE. im just so pissed out he isn't compared to the greats.

watching this live was maybe the proudest I’ve ever been as a Knicks fan (I’m 22 so i never saw them goto the finals in 94 or 99) crazy how he even hit a half court buzzer beater to add to this historic night lol, Melo will without a doubt go down in history as a Knicks legend and my favorite NBA player of all time, so glad i was old enough to watch him in his prime tear defenses up with that rare offensive skill set he possesses, I still love to watch highlights of nights where he will come off the bench for portland or LA and drop 25 or 30 points it gives me goosebumps seeing that little glimpse of prime NY Melo

For everyone talking about the 0 assists, how about you actually watch the game before you talk. The man was on fire all night, Shumpert even said that he didn't want to sub in for him, Stoudimire and Kenyon martin held him down so that he couldnt be sub out. They gave him the ball every possession and watched him go to work. If he passed it out they passed it right back. Besides who says a power forward HAS to get assists?? he had 62 points 23/35 FG 13 rebounds 0 turnovers cmon people stop hating

It's quite funny that Melo and James both scored their 60+ games against the Bobcats.

BIG congrats to Carmelo Anthony, first off. Yes, it's true that he had 0 assists in the game but that's because the team was purposely feeding him the ball. He's not a ball hog if he can get buckets. They knew it was something big for Melo. Shump refused to go in when Woodson wanted to sub because he wanted to see Melo go off and break highs, his whole team, the garden, and everyone watching. He broke Bernard King's Record, his idol! What are y'all complainin for? He said that he didn't want his team and fans to think that he accepted losses so easy, and this was his statement. There's a difference between a consistent performance, and a LEGENDARY performance.

Melo is a better "scorer" where as KD is a better shooter, Melo can score anywhere on the floor like posting you up, catch and shoot, faceup, drvie to the lane and etc, where as KD mainly shoots and drives to the rim. Also melo is a better rebounder.

Corey A. Thomas I agree 50%, but melo is definitely a shooter as to a scorer, obviously he scores but KD has lead the league in scoring for multiple seasons. If you watch the game again, melo shoots 80-90 percent of his shots in the field, making him a specialist "shooter" where kd can do all the things you mentioned bringing him more to a scoring base.
@ctzcan76
@ctzcan76 9 лет назад
That is just one one game, I watch a lot of Knicks games and i definitely can say melo isn't a specialist "shooter".

If Melo stayed in I think he couldve dropped 70+ , but you could see how tired he was on the court ! But it doesnt matter 62 is an absolutely crazy number and most of them from jumpshots . So pure !! #Melo62

Everyone who keeps saying it was against the bobcats needs to shut the fuck up. The bobcats are slowly improving and they have a BETTER RECORD THAN THE KNICKS. They are also 5th in DEFENSE THIS SEASON. He dropped 50 on the Miami heat is that not enough points? Does Miami not play good enough defense? The bobcats are 5th in defense and having a better season then the Knicks and melo still scored 62, when Kobe put up 61 against the Knicks they had a much worse record then the bobcats currently and having a bad season overall. Stop saying that he had no assists, melo was constantly passing the ball to wide open shooters but they missed the shot he could if had 6 or 7 assists tonight. It's pretty hard to get assists when your trying to pass the ball but all your teammates want to do is pass you the ball and get the hell out of the way. Even if he didn't get any assists he shooting 66% you don't need to pass the ball if your hot all night INCLUDING A HALF COURT BUZZER BEATER. Also they took him out with 7 minutes left because he was TIRED he practically played 3.5 quarters straight. My point is most of the comments are coming from disliking melo and not being factual, be quiet and watch one of the greatest scorers of all time play. I look forward to seeing what you do in the all star game melo congrats on being a starter!

I honestly feel that any team would have gotten this beat down by Melo, but it so happened that it was the Bobcats. I say the same thing for Kobe's 81 pts against the Raptors. Kobe would have torched any team that night. PEACE!!

mvp5316 5th best defense is not good enough for you mvp? why are you so ignorant? does it have to be a high profile team to get credit? what about when Anthony scored 18 points in first quarter on Paul George and the Pacers? and then he had like 28 or something and didnt even play the 4th quarter does that count too? come on man, think before you say stuff like that

Jason Bourne I should have chosen my words more better, but I didn't intend it to be like they aren't that good because they are. I meant it in a way like the Bobcats were the unfortunate team to face the Knicks on this day. I honestly don't care about a high profiles. I watch all of the teams because I like the NBA as a whole. Also, I wasn't trying to compare stats. My point is that Melo would have went off on any team on this night just like when Kobe had 81 on the Raptors. It wouldn't have mattered if the other team was rank number 1 on defense or last place. When a player is on fire like that, all you can do is embrace this moment as a fan and all the other team can do is try to do everything else to get the W. PEACE!!
