One of the great things about Groff's performance is that it was due to the fact that his crown was so heavy, it prevented him from moving his head, and he just MADE IT WORK. Genius.

Man her energy was perfect for the character. I’m normally not one for “genderbending” characters because it’s often done for artificial reasons, but yeah in this case, she absolutely kills it and I’d love to see her in the show.

She probably has an amazing voice, however, this wasn’t my favourite performance of this song, this was rushed and a little less acted. The tempo was way too fast in her rendition, & the words needed more annunciation. I agree, a female King George would be awesome, but am I crazy in thinking she butchered the song in her version? So many people seemed to like her version that I saw in reading through the comments, & I was disappointed in the performance.

I wonder how much of it has to do with the band. At some points it seemed like she was trying to slow down a bit but the band rushed on. I wonder how much of that could change if the band followed her rather than her following the band’s tempo. It was far too fast.

Darth Awesome thanks for adding to the constructive criticism, often times if I make a comment in that respect, people jump down my throat or say I’m trying to be mean, but I think she probably has an amazing voice, but the arrangement was terrible. I know there are parts of the song where there are retard moments written in where the tempo slows, so those may be the moments you were hearing with the band.

LWTR haha yeah no problem. I would give the band and performer the benefit of the doubt though. I’m sure the rehearsal time for events like this one is incredibly short, so they might have not had the option to discuss any tempo issues. On the note of the arrangement, the number itself is pretty simple and I’m not sure this performance deviates from the original too much other than interpretation of tempo. They could have also been rushing so other performances could go on as well.

Oh, this woman is so talented! And, naturally, her British accent is impeccable. How I wish I could have seen her in BRIGHT STAR. I did get to see her as Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC, early in the tour, and she was wonderful (though I'll admit, no one will probably ever measure up for me to Michele Ragusa, in the 1999 Dallas Theater Center production). But Carmen Cusack should be a huge star in the years to come, no question.

I love how she went for a very dramatic King George full of dramatic movements. It makes her very good in a way that is unique and completely different to Groffs calm psychopat.
