No - I get what the original poster meant. Katrina has a kind of “la vie en rose m” feel about her and whole musically it definitely screams Yiddish, you get the French feel where her personality seeps into her performance. It really adds ANOTHER dimension to this awe-inspiring performance

AlbertO Meaning there is not as much coverage and hype surrounding her compared to other Lead Actress Tony Nominees this year. Just look at any Broadway fan page

+Mr WB What is a Broadway fan page? She's gotten rave reviews for every role she's played, and award nominations, too. As for "Tony hype," I'm not sure what you've been reading. Katrina Lenk was the hands-down favorite to win this year's Best Leading Actress Tony. Her winning the Tony was the least surprising announcement of the night.

AlbertO Dude calm down it's not that big of a deal. This isn't the first performance I've seen of her. I know she's amazing. All I was insinuating was for many people (mainly my generation) this is their first time hearing of her, and therefore don't know any previous work from her. The Band's Visit is a mature show that covers both political and domestic issues concerning race, immigration, and classism. Not, of course, a trendy set of topics for Broadway's main fan base (young people) and you would know that of course if you knew what a fan page was (which is kind of ridiculous because it's in the title). Anyway, rather than jump down my throat for suggestioning she deserves more people recognising her gifts, maybe follow a few Broadway themed Instagram pages first and then come back to me. Have a good night.

+Mr WB You're right about The Band's Visit being a mature show, especially compared to this year's other New Musical nominees, but you're wrong about "Broadway's main fan base" being young people," or at least, they're not who actually comes to the theater, with the exception of a few musicals. I doubt many "Mean Girls" fans saw Katrina Lenk's Broadway debut last year in "Indecent," a stunning play-with-music which I preferred to the eventual 2017 Best Play Tony winner (if you haven't seen "Indecent" yet, PBS filmed it for "Great Performances"; it's available in their online archive). Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm not really interested in fan-produced content, or the opinions of most so-called Broadway fans. I see almost everything - on and off-Bway, and on and off West-End - and I don't read professional reviews of productions I haven't seen, because I'd rather not have specific expectations of any kind (or listen to cast recordings before seeing a new musical).
