@@monicabella7894 I have to agree I enjoy the richness, depth, and darkness that came with age. Age and time also bring about a different interpretation to a song that isn’t as translatable when just starting off.
@@ABCDuwachui All vocalists are definitely the best in their prime. Some are for certain expressions, depth of feelings later on great, but vocally not.
@@monicabella7894 sure, but... is this badly sung? And anyway, is the recording the best possible with their actual voices? certainly not... at least , it's good we have it
Two of the greatest ever together a sublime musical treat, in 1977 Summer magic at The Hollywood Bowl two nights with Carmen & Sarah were magnificent, luckily went both nights we will never see their likes again, so happy this incredibly great performance was filmed have viewed now a number of times...
Wish I could be in a room listening to this with all the other commenters here. It can be hard to find people who share such deep appreciation for this piece and these two phenomenal ladies.
There was a radio station out on Long Island back in the 50s/60s that played nothing but McRae recorded music. Kinda like William B. Williams who played Sinatra recordings exclusively every afternoon from WNEW in the Big Apple. Can't say any of these great singers were favorites of mine in a time of a heavy downtown jazz scene at Slugs, the Blue Note, Village Vanguard, the Village Gate, etc.; and Birdland and the scene around Times Square. Jazz clubs everywhere. William B., who had a great on air voice, was one of the best jocks of his time, kindly, responsive to listeners and fans. Who knew it would be over so soon!
They're in awe with each other, and you can tell by the sheer joy they express. I wish this eagerness of sharing the music among jazz musicians would still happen nowadays...
They weren't in awe, but they were friends and respected each other. As singers however, they're just so different I just don't think pairing them works very well.
Good God! This is too good. 2 out of 3 favorite jazz and blues singers. There are no words to describe my feelings about these two extraordinary women. I love them immensely. Thank you for posting this video.
This is just pure heaven and great music. I always knew Sarah and Carmen were friends. It's just fantastic to see them performing together and to hear how they both adapted to each other's sound and technique spontaneously as the great jazz singers they were!
Both top class acts in their own right rare treat to discover this double bubble ballad on You tube cheers maybe social media media isant all bad ? Lol
I love these women immensely and listen to their catalogs of music between the both of them. I'd always wondered if they performed together and was so happy to come across this treasure!!
Love to see this restored and that weird label on the screen removed. This is a classic, no one owns it and these ladies DESERVE an HD version of this wonderful duet!
(Tranen, tranen. Mijn hele leven houd ik al van hen. Nou ja vanaf mijn vijftiende.) Tears tears, my whole life I already love them. Well, let's say from my fifteenth! that's 77 years now. They are still in my heart.
Was this duet recorded on an album?! Their vocal technique and ears are impeccable here. I need to listen to Carmen's music more. To me she's kinda Unsung compared to the other Jazz divas
I would like to converse with the person who put this up on You Tube. I have looked all over and can't find it anywhere. Do you have any further info on this video.
