Es increíble cómo han podido contar una historia en 5 minutos. Y cómo se puede entender. Un niño inocente y feliz, crece y Yuzuru Hanyu se desprende del traje del inicio, florece y aparece la diosa del destino, él trata de escapar pero es manejado por el destino hasta que entiende que sólo abrazando su destino puede hacerse dueño de él, y allí se da el cambio de vestimenta de Mao Daichi. Fantástico. Nuevamente Yuzuru realiza una performance en dupla con otra disciplina artística . Mao Daichi es una actriz muy conocida de Japón. Hermoso. Siempre con una reflexión, con algo para pensar sobre la vida, en estas actuaciones de Yuzuru Hanyu. Very powerful collaboration between two great artists! Daichi Mao represents the goddess of fate. Yuzu, at the beginning , represents an innocent boy who knows little about life. This is what Yuzu said and Carmina Burana: "The goddess of destiny appears, and the wheels of destiny take control of him, and he is unable to move freely. In the end, he accepts his destiny and goes forward with his own will while confronting his destiny. In this story, I skated with the hope of conveying a strong message of accepting & moving on, despite the disasters & suffering that are beyond our control, even if we feel such suffering." This collaboration program was performed as part of the Notte Stellata ice show, which is dedicated to the 3.11 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. About Daichi Mao, she was part of Takarazuka Revue, an all-female musical theatre troupe. She was well known for playing male characters. The choreography for Yuzu in Carmina Burana is very interesting. The first part was choreographed by a figure skating choreographer, and the second part by a stage choreographer from the musical field.

I watched it live in the arena and it's a shame I don't have two pairs of eyes because the dancers on the stage were amazing as well! Truly a breathtaking performance by all artists.

Oh I'm so glad you watched Carmina! On your Danny boy reaction vid I was really hoping you'd watch it. Yuzu & Daichi-san's collab and was just brilliant. Sharing my interpretation of this program. Opening: God of Fate exists already. A young Yuzuru appears as a carefree child, surrounded by birds & flowers, celebrating life, while Goddess of Fate turns away. At this point, Goddess of Fate hasn’t reach out to him yet. Mid-show: Yuzu removes his clothes to signify shedding his childhood entering into adulthood/society, Goddess of Fate turns to him, he is controlled, not free anymore, tried to break free. Even when Goddess turns away he is trapped in his own ‘room’, he dance ard to show his agony. Ending: Goddess of Fate turn white because Fate may not be dark all the time. He decided to co-exist with his fate, fears & pain; so he skates toward her and joint hands to co-exist. This is life all rolled into 4 mins, my friend. He is asking us to co-exist with fears and live with HOPE.

I think Mao Daichi gave Yuzu the motivation to continue skating for another 30 years, because she looks great at 68, and I'm sure Yuzu would look 30 when he turns 60 😍

Daichi Mao is playing the God of Fate. Yuzuru plays a young man who know nothing of the future at beginning and then face a hard road in front of him. He tried to fight the fate but in the end he decided to enbrace his fate. Hanyu also upload a new video on his YT channel, it's very cool too.

I watched it live at venue. The part where yuzuru was controlled by the Goddess of Fate was super intense if watched in the venue. It was as if we were all holding our breaths. Daichi Mao's acting was really fierce and intense. I think the camera didnt capture the scenes where Yuzuru was struggling to escape from the control which is a bit of shame. Btw do you believe that Mao-san is actually 68 years old already?

Hope you slept well and are having a good labour day (do you have that holiday in Turkey as well?) - Usually I don't watch your sports reactions, to day I did, because I didn't realize it was sports from the thumbnail... :) I love Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana". There are many great recordings of it, and some are very different, for example Ray Manzarek, the legendary keyboarder and musical master mind of The Doors did a full album with his interpretation of the pieces in this cycle of tunes... The ones used here were "O fortuna" in the beginning and ending parts of the performance, I can't tell exactly which one they used in the more lyric middle part... they changed some of the music for dramatic effects, but I must say I very much enjoyed this performance, his skating and the show were really amazing and beautiful to watch, I don't regret mistaking this for a music video... :) Here for your private pleasure is "O fortuna", a song to fate, the goddess of fortune, in Ray Manzarek's modern version, but I also recommend the music with choir and orchestra as written by Orff... enjoy!
