I find it funny how a bit from a jester with cerated teeth, a swing of the axe from an undead French princess, and a FREAKING SHOTGUN BLAST all deal less damage than those two bumper cars in the Garage.
Such a terrible bug. Had it not been for that, I think the game would've been lot more manageable to deal with, even with the already-punishing boss fights.
@@theharvardyard2356My gut tells me to call it a bug, given that there's many other parts of the game where you can avoid damage without issue, but regardless if it's intentional or not it's just as quarter munchy either way.
The first time I saw this game at my local arcade, I put in two nickles, picked haunted house, then thought it was the dumbest thing. It's one of my biggest regrets
Definitely a game that doesn't take itself too seriously; it really loves going all-out with the dark humor and puns. Not for everyone, and it's still not one of my favorite rail shooters, so I don't play through it much outside of the Halloween season.
@@Multibrawlr I hear you. It's not my favorite either, but it's definitely not my least favorite. If I'm going to play an on rails shooter, it's going to be the Houses of the Dead
Legitimately super impressive. Do you think every 'hit' you took was unavoidable? It looked like a no-damage Umlaut is theoretically possible but it's super tight.
Thank you. The offscreen bumper car in Rickety Town is unavoidable. I've tried delaying killing the driver but it never works. When the camera turns around and Tokkentakker shoots you at 23:26, it is actually possible to shoot him and avoid damage. Of course, you'll have to keep shooting him afterwards, since he will immediately shoot you when not in hitstun, because as I've mentioned, boss attack animations don't reset. A no-damage fight against Umlaut is totally possible. I had some unfortunate luck but fortunately his bite doesn't tend to do a lot of damage.
Flaws and all this is still the #1 lightgun game for me. Unmatched atmosphere. I've gotten a 1CC on default settings with autofire, the garage segment in Rickety Town is a pain in the ass. Any tips on how to reduce the stuttering in Mame? No matter the PC, I've always had issues with Carnevil.
I hate that part. The high damage it inflicts is one of the main reasons why I pick Rickety Town first. Take the damage at full health, survive Krampus by the skin of your teeth, and then earn your health back in Haunted House and Freak Show.
