I think VIRGIN is much better because after you pay for the Cruise, you don't have to worry about reaching in your pockets again. It makes the VACATION feel like a Vacation!!!

There really should be a middle package for people who enjoy specialty coffees. I might have two or three alcoholic drinks over the entire cruise if my doctor says I can get away with it, but I'll drink 5 or 6 frozen macchiatos any day of the week. :)

You forgot to mention that people should also take into account if they gamble a lot and mainly drink in the casino. We do a mix of 2 bottles of carry on wine, 1 bottle of liquor pre ordered, bubbles package so we have mixers for our liquor, and free drinks at the casino.

I vary rarely drink outside of the cruise, maybe a beer or two out at dinner. I couldn’t tell you the last time I bought alcohol for the house, but we always get a drink package. You’re not driving anywhere and you’re never drinking on an empty stomach. I weigh 120lbs and maybe need 3-5 drinks to get “there” however when you’re constantly eating and always have a full stomach that number becomes 5-7 drinks to get “there” for me. Average day for us, 1-2 Bloody Mary/mimosas in the morning, 1-2 beer or cocktail around lunch, 2-3 drinks in the afternoon, 2-3 glasses of wine during the course of dinner and 2-4 drinks through the night and maybe 1 additional night cap. We always end up getting value out of it. If you drink regularly then the package is a no brainer.

Sooo they make us pay $60 a day for the package, and then turn around and add tax to every drink we get? That's highway robbery! We should just be able to pay the flat fee

I wanted the Cheers package but EVERYONE over 21 in your cabin has to get it. My mom doesn’t drink alcohol AT ALL so I couldn’t get it.

FYI! There is a way to get by the everyone in the room must purchase the Cheers Pkg. We have friends whose husband is a recovering alcoholic, she calls the cruise ship and gets an exception so they only need to buy one pkg. Food for thought.....

The 15 drink limit I could hit very easily if drinking light beer throughout the day. Guessing it’s better to drink soda and wait until the night before drinking.

If you depart from New York or Texas I would imagine the package is only charged starting 6am the next day. So on a day sail you only pay for 9 days?

I don’t drink alcohol so their drink packages aren’t important to me. I found early in life that you were more successful in hooking up if you were sober and you would also remember what you did. Nothing worse than waking up with a stranger in bed and not remembering what happened

We often bring a couple of wine bottles on board with us. Never tried cheers package, but on the next one, we did purchase it. Oh and if I read this correctly, a tip is automatically added to every drink you order even with the cheers or bubbles packages. So plan ahead for the tips too.

When we purchased the cheers package, they charged us in advance for gratuities(18%) and we would tip a bar tender if it was good service.

I’m a bit confused! If the kids get the Bubbles pkg. does room service charge us for the juice they want in the morning? Also, on an 8 day cruise is the Cheers pkg. cost for 6 days as day 1 is embarkation and day 8 is disembarking? Just started watching your informative videos. Thanks!

We're cruising in April with carnival. So, if we brought our own wine, do we have to only drink it in our room? How does that work? Can we pour it in a tumbler and carry it around with us? Also, how does one go about pre ordering a bottle of liquor?

Yes just put it in a cup and carry it around, and you pre order on the website but is only for cruises 7 nights or longer

So I’m going on a cruise in like a week, I did get the drink package and I know I will get my money worth. But I didn’t know you have to pay taxes while still at the dock on the 1st day. So my thing is when will they stop making you pay taxes? Like when we get into open water or the 2nd day?

Donot purchase cheers unless you drink at least 15+ drinks a day. If you pay for a cheers package just know you will still pay 18% gratuity for your closing tab each time. Ports require you to make reservations to get off the boat earlier unless u purchased an excursion or else you will end up getting off the boat much later than u wanted. Plan ahead to get fat, u will eat much more than u expected. Happy traveling

With all these rules and restrictions, better off cruising with other cruise lines like NCL they include the package into your cruise fare! You just need to pay gratuities and you can start using the package the moment you get on board. The us port state taxes are common for all me cruise lines

I just want some hot tea in the morning and maybe one in the afternoon. Water, maybe a sparkling water here and there. No way I am paying 60 dollars A FREAKING DAY for that!! Same for the internet packages.. over priced and not worth it for me. I recently found out that you can just pay for internet a la carte. So for a 5 day cruise, I can get one days internet on a sea day and save a huge bundle of money. Most of them have crappy internet anyway!! I preorder a small case of water for the stateroom, and get tea free from the buffet.

There needs to be an “in between” package. I’ll be traveling with an 19 and 20 year old. They won’t want to drink pop all the time. My daughter loves her fancy coffee and nonalcoholic beverages.

It's a cash grab plan, that's it. We had to get the cheers package even though I'm not a drinker. Why do they make no drinkers purchase the package because someone else does drink? You also can't use it at Carnival ran islands which also makes no sense. We took a 8 day cruise and payed for 8 day cheers package but technically you only can use it for 6 days. You can't use it for the 1st and last day but they charge you for it. So basically they got an extra $280 from us and an extra $140 from each person that has the cheers package. That's robbery
