Excellent tutorial! I recently stayed at a hotel that had this type of elevator. You'd think we were teaching people Calculus, but after N years of using elevators the regular way, I can see how this would be confusing at first.
Thanks Wendy, I am glad you enjoy them. I always set out to make more informative and longer videos. especially if you have watched any of my port of call videos. I did some port walkaround and also how to get to the beach videos.
Very informative When we embarked on the June 13th Cruise the elevators were kind of slow to get to the floor so we were stuck using the stairs it's a good elevator system Carnival should have those elevators throughout the fleet
I liked it because on the Mardi Gras I had to wait like 5 minutes for a full elevator then I take the stairs wasn’t a problem with the fwd elevators on the magic probably because of the glass elevators at least with these elevators you can press it so many times you get the elevator to yourself
Well Russell...thanks to this elevator video... I will now know how to run the elevators this time on our Cruise.... we are leaving this Saturday Jan 12th ...I'm finally gonna get to go to Grand Turk...
I am glad this video helped out. A d your going to love grand turk. Check out my video I did their. Some more great information about the port --》》 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OcCKWVEGFBs.html
Darn it, I've been on the Carnival Horizon twice and didn't know all there is to know about the smart elevators! Thanks for showing me the tips and tricks that make life much easier when selecting a the deck I want...if only person..tap once if three people..tap three times wow!
Happy to help! Its really interesting this fact about the multiple button option. i found this all out my self from working onboard the ship for more than 1 year.
I am visually impaired. I get turned around easily. Are the ship maps (you are here) still on the wall (like Mardi Gras) ? I hope the rv screens are large print.
If someone uses a mobility scooter, I wonder if they should count themselves as two people, just because the scooter takes up more space than a single, standing person.
Soooo. This means that If you press the button 5 times, the elevators will keep passing your floor because there isn't enough space on any elevator to accomodate your group size. This method seems good for 4a. Lol
Is there a way to change floors once you're in? For example if we hit 7 to get to our room. Get in the elevator then bf decides he wants to go get soft serve ( he's addicted ) would we have to get off at 7 then start over? If so, no soft serve for him 🤨
Inside the elevator their is a phone to allow emergency calls. Someone will answer and send someone to get the door open. Very similar to any other regular elevator.
Their is an extra button I didn't point out that allows extra time once the door opens. And also a different notice to alert you to which car you would need to get in.
They need to press the button to let the elevator know more people are waiting. It only accounts for the number of times it was pressed prior to arrival.
My question is what happens when you choose 4 people for the elevator and as your walking on 2 more people walk in before the door closes? Do I tell them sorry you can't get on I only requested the elevator for 4 people. That would be kind of rude wouldn't it? 🤣
This actually seems really confusing. And here's a curveball. Say there's one person waiting for an elevator, and suddenly a large group shows up as it arrives. What then?
Yes it does. And no buttons inside so if you change your mind too bad. I would rename them “dumb elevators!” If I was in that situation. Besides so what if you’re like me badly vision impaired? Good luck trying to read that little screen on the wall.
I Like Cruise Ships That's the type of elevator system this is, where you select your floor on the outside & there's no buttons inside. This specific system is made by Schindler & is called PORT.
You would try to locate the panel outside, then you would press the wheelchair button on it. It'll start talking, & once you hear the floor you want to go to, press the wheelchair button again, & it'll tell you the car. Hopefully it'll also give you extended open time. Hope this helps!
Hey elevating, thank you so much for the information this helps out a lot. This will give me more confidence on board the ship while using the elevators, Plus I intend to reach out to the special access department guest services to help me out as well again thanks for the information
It's a foolishness even for old people who don't know how to use smart elevators. Is there a botton for a disability people or they must press a lot of times to have time to get in?
