Why is everyone hating on this guy, yea he took it kinda slow, yea not EVERY SINGLE NOTE was hit and his tounging is not as clear as Bob McChesney but this was still a pretty fine performance. Anyone who disagrees needs to upload a video of them playing it better than this guy. If not Shut up.
It’s virtually as good as mcchesney. And not really slower. I like this guy’s tone quality better actually. You haters really have nothing better to do. .
I'm an Intermediate level trombone player, so I'm very impressed by this. If anyone can do better then this, stop hiding behind a computer and step in front of a video camera.
@@jeremysolomon2686 wow he memorized the music and played it live wow 😐😐. I agree with everybody saying stop hating but thats not anything special like at all
This was extremely well done. Intonation on trombone is difficult, and this guy did a great job making sure at least his notes were in tune relative to each other. I love his own spin using glisses several times and adding some near grace notes in the main theme. Very good performance.
@@colintahbaz1292 no it's really not. In some areas the transcription has a few extra bits, but most of them are actually easier to do then the same part in the original. The last variation is SIGNIFICANTLY easier in the bob mcchesney version, so obviously bob is going to take it faster then anyone playing the original
Are you people serious?!? This is very technically difficult and he did a great job. Better than most professionals. Can’t compare him to mcchesney as he is the best to play this. But excellent performance. If you can do remotely as well put your trombone where your mouth is!!
Excellent sound and a fine example of a brass player as I like to say simply ''Riding the air'' that means starting the notes with air first with the tongue just delicately articulating but always keeping the air moving .a superb ''Live'' performance and very inspirational. Now where did I put my Arban ?
Now imagine doing all that, except with a slide where it isn't just press or not press, where you need to make sure you get every inch of precision into your slide position, all the while maintaining good embouchure/posture. Not saying other instruments don't need precision, but when you actually feel the slide, you'll understand how much trombonists need to put into their tuning and intonation. Also carrying the whole trombone's weight on one shoulder is hard.
Even if it was false notes, you have to give him credit. It would never sound like Maurice Andre cause is a trombone. Now, an Euphonium may give the piece more credit or maybe a valve trombone.
the thing i dont like about super fast tounguing is that sometimes you lose the quality of the acual note itself and it ends up sounding like a random mash of stuff,, but i give him lots of props for being able to play it
It's actually not that simple. The trombone, though difficult, is always possible to be in tune. It's difficult and takes many years of training, but nonetheless it is possible. With other instruments, if one note is out of tune then the other notes don't sound quite as good. The trombone IS a tuning slide whereas other instruments have to adjust differently and specially to every single note. I've been playing clarinet my whole life and I play in the Chicago Symphony and I know this to be true.
He's definitely not. If you see his face in his one uploaded video, and search up the names and faces of the actual clarinetists in the CSO, he looks more like the black on the side bar.
Also, every pitch has a pitch tendency. This makes every pitch either go flat or sharp of the standard position, so a trombonist needs to memorize every notes position. If you had ever played trombone you would know that. Know your shit before you come into a place and start making assumptions.
I couldn't help but notice there's no video of you performing the piece(or any piece for that matter) correctly on your channel. Why is that ?Surely if you have the time and audacity to be so analytical of this man's playing, then undoubtedly you could enlighten us on how to play, by performing the piece yourself. You are MrTromboneGuy. Why not show us instead of just telling us ?
People calling this guy bad or having a poor performance clearly do not know how difficult it is to play fast notes in tune on a trombone. People who think this guy is bad should go out and record themselves and try not to sound like a bad slide whistle.
u must be kidding bro. trombone needs precision with every single position not to give away false tone while u can press buttons playing the same tone over and over again without worries
I have to agree with some of the folks here. While I think its admirable to play this piece on trombone, the slide simply can't cope with the precision needed. Some of Arthur Pryor's solos are far more idiomatic to the trombone and sound just as virtuosic.
No, just no. I play both trombone and tuba, and I can tell you without a doubt The Carnival of Venice is easier to play on tuba than it is on trombone.
As a french horn and trumpet player i have to say that you are wrong. False tone can be given through ANY wind instrument with the position of your mouth and posture. Whether your lips are to low, high, not tight enough, not loose enough, or whether you are holding your horn at a certain angle, puffing cheeks or simply sitting up straight. You should not down any instrument because they are all difficult to play in their own way. Everything takes precision, whether its a slide or your embrochure.
@@Scott-bq7jn "how would you do the trills huh", what do you even mean? The trill is just over a Bb, so he could've just done a Bb - D lip trill in 1st position.
NO!! He's playing it all wrong!!! It's supposed to be an exuberant, light & bouncy piece, resembling a caranvale at Venezia, but he's playing it all classical concerto. oh, and he's sharp
I have always wondered why a tbone player thinks this piece of music is in the repertoire...it just shows how inappropriate and embarrassing for even the most competent player...ugly and cringeworthy fart sounds. ....SMH
Wow he's faking that entire middle section. He's just double tonguing and randomly hitting notes. Not to mention he's out of tune at the beginning. Other than that not too bad. But I could play it just as good.
