What happened to my blood after 1 YEAR on the Carnivore Diet? In this video, I will be comparing my bloodwork results from 4 months to 12 months on the carnivore diet. We will also discuss my doctor's reaction to my bloodwork, what tests I plan to get next, and why I believe I am a lean-mass-hyper-responder. I do realize Dave Feldman is not a professor. My bad y’all.
If you have questions or concerns about your own bloodwork results, please consult YOUR doctor. This video is NOT intended for medical advice.

I am 34. Got up to 370 pounds. Blood pressure this time last year was 140/90. Constantly sick every month. Did carnivore for a month. Dropped to 353 pounds. Lost nine pounds over a six-day stretch eating a ton of meat. Went for my annual. Doctor asked what I had been eating. Told her red meat, eggs, fat free milk. My blood pressure was 120/81. My triglycerides dropped 100 points. She told me she would probably be calling me the next day to discuss cholesterol medicine as my diet was going to cause high cholesterol and possibly discuss diabetes medicine. She emailed me the next day, my cholesterol was perfect, A1C was perfect, blood sugar was perfect. She couldn't believe it. I told her I cut out all sugar and carbs. She said body needs carbs and pasta is ok every now and then. I love her because she has always told me the truth, especially during Covid and with the vaccines (which she didn't recommend). She has been taught this by medical school. My energy is through the roof. Haven't a single sneeze of cough in months. Taking Zinc, Vitamin C and D, Soursop, and eating carnivore every day. Seems to have worked.

I’m 55 and have been doing cyclical carnivore/ketogenic eating for 17 years. The only reasons I go to my doctor are for my annual check-up and to get them to prescribe me things I can’t get on my own, such as a CAC, colonoscopy and so on. I got tired of explaining the whole cholesterol thing a long time ago. I don’t even try anymore. Anytime I have to switch to a new doctor, of course they recommend statins since that’s what they are programmed to do. My total cholesterol is usually in the 280s, HDL is usually in the 90s, trigs are generally in the 80s, and my LDL is usually in the 120s. I just tell them I’m NOT taking statins, promise to send them medical journals articles related to new cholesterol research to educate themselves, then move on to the next topic of discussion. I’m just way over the discussion at this point. The only sickness I’ve had in the past 17 years is COVID twice. All my other health markers are about as perfect as you can get. So yes, this stuff really works. It cracks me up when I encounter doctors that swear you need 150g, or more, of exogenous carbohydrates to survive long term. This proves that many of these docs don’t even understand basic metabolic physiology and how the body partitions and distributes fuel. Now, I don’t really expect them to know this because the current medical model is to diagnose a condition then treat the symptoms with medication. So anything beyond that model, to possibly cure or actually fix the condition, they don’t really know about. It’s sort of sad really. I guess the upside is, there are enough sick people in current society they can stay in business with that model. If you want to get your own labs done without messing with a doctor you can go to www.walkinlabs.com and run whatever labs you want either through Quest or LabCorps. My doctor does my basic annual labs each year but for stuff like fasting insulin, advanced lipids profiles and the stuff they won’t normally prescribe, you can get it through Walk In Labs. For instance, fasting insulin is only $25 through Quest, using Walk In Labs.

I'm 65 yrs old tried the carnivore diet because my new Holistic Doctor told me it was better then my 8 yr Vegan diet that i am on. In 48 days on carnivore my gout went away, I lost 6 lbs. ,I don't have to take my diabetic pills anymore, my swollen prostrate is getting better , my brain fog is almost gone, my knee pain is gone, I stopped taking my blood pressure meds, I am sleeping through the night without having to get up to pee 2 times, my eye flouters are gone, my long distance vision has improved, my bald spot on the top of my head is starting new hair growth. I had to go back to Vegan because my wife said my face had a pink look to it she liked it better when i had a gray looking face.😁😂I'm loving CARNIVOR !!!

Congratulations on your great results! 🥳 In my opinion LDL is a lousy indicator for cardiovascular health. Dr. Berry made a video about different indicators and their association to cardiac events. I looked at the study and LDL was +39% and Diabetes was +997%. So the one indicator (diabetes) is 26 times a higher indicator for heart disease then LDL. Glad your doctor did not freak out! 😃

💯 ldl alone is a terrible predictor of heart disease.
@CFerre2000
@CFerre2000 3 месяца назад
You have 2 forms of the LDL (bloodfats). SMALL particles and LARGE particles. The SMALL particles clog up your bloodvessels and cause many other issues. Which you find in plant product. The LARGE particles you find in animal product. They DO NOT cause any problems. On the contrary. But Big Pharma wants all forms of high LDL to be bad for your health so they can sell $$$ more cholesterol medication. They want you to be chronically sick, preferable for life.$$$.

You can order your own blood tests online. Ownyourownlabs is one of several and usually the best prices. It’s surprisingly not as expensive as you might think by not going through insurance. Some tests are pricey but others like standard lipid panel costs you around $9. It’s so cheap I want to try getting two done in the same day to see what actually changes between fasting cholesterol and then eating something and getting it taken again. But I haven’t done it yet…

Something to think about or research regarding your A1C is some believe that when you are eating a Ketogenic or Carnivore that, your red blood cells can last longer than 3 months. If this is the case, the test is testing a period of time that can be up to 4 months. That said, it could take longer with a slower decline of your A1C number. A doctorate student who is a hyper responder found he can get his LDL and total cholesterol in range by eating 6-8 Oreas for a few days before the test.

Great job! All due respect you are not a LMHR: 80 or above HDL, 80 or below tri and over 200 LDL is the criteria in addition to be low carb for 5 years and BMI Which you didn’t mention but it looks like you got and yes I totally agree with you your tri/HDL is optimal. I’m 6 years low carb, carnivore OMAD since January 1st close to LMHR numbers at 58 years young: HDL 80, tri 81, LDL 301 BMI 28 per DEXA scan. If you really wanna make sure all is well and you are still very young but a CAC will tell you if you’ve got calcium but I think you’ve arrested you poor health and are doing a great job, I’ve had 2 CAC’s one at 52 and one at 57 both 0.

My current bmi is 23.5. I do fit the generic criteria. I am aware about the 80 or above HDL, but it seems like my HDL is trending this way. I do have high HDL according to the reference range and my try/HDL ratio is 1.0. Blood pressure is normal, low waist circumference and I am insulin sensitive. I consider myself to be a LMHR. I bet next bloodwork results will more than like show HDL above 80 with the way the numbers are trending. Overall, I am healthier than I’ve ever been. Great job on your results. Keep it up!

I am a keto eating diabetic and have eaten mostly that way for a few years minus some slip ups. I just got my bloodwork this week … 5.2 A1c. My triglycerides are 52, my HDL is 48. That puts me at optimum ratio. My LDL is a smidge high for the range at 133. Usually I measure just under the line. I am not remotely worried about that. My insulin was 16. It needs improvement still. But I used to have a much higher number there. Now if my darn thyroid would play nice it would be great. But clearly all the fat isn’t killing those of us who eat keto/carnivore. Oh and I haven’t had diabetes meds in years.

I'm so thankful for your video. I just saw my blood work today. Hopefully hear from my doctor tomorrow. But my anxiety went sky high. But I had very similar numbers as you did. Low triglycerides normal VLDL cholesterol. Normal sodium. My calcium and protein were lower than I liked but normal. My glucose was low at 69. But the LDL was super high. And my total cholesterol was super high. Hdl was normal. I am not overweight. I have never been overweight. But my blood pressure which use to be 90/60 has been ranging 110/70. I'm not use to that. I am F/ 49. I appreciate your video

Great to hear. I didn't have the best reaction with Keto/Carnivore, I was on it for 4 years, strict 20-carbs limit/ to 0 carbs 6-month regiments. However, I think it was the context of genetics with me and not proper monitoring, but I got hypertension. I had to switch to a plant-based diet since March, and I'm glad to announce everything is normal on my side, HOWEVER my creatine levels were slightly elevated, 1.35 mg/dl. My urinalysis revealed I had 3-7 WBC in my blood, so it's suspected that I have UTI, and I'm a male. Hopefully by next week I'll find out if this is an acute case or something caused because of me going to the gym 6 days a week (I don't supplement). I hope this is not something caused because of early signs of chronic kidney disease, since my RBC are considerably lower 4.9x 10.0. I don't believe one diet fits all, and it entirely depends on how it modulates with your lifestyle. From what I understand, proteins from animals are in long-term toxic to my kidneys, and that is just the genetic hand I've been given unfortunately. I didn't have to get on statin, and supplemented psyllium husk and my cholesterol levels are baseline. I'm still young, 32 y.o, so my body's able to deal with the wear and tear. When I did carnivore, I had a bad case of GERDs, but after switch back to keto the symptoms would disappear. I ask, even if you are doing the carnivore/keto diet, make sure to monitor yourself, BP, SpO2, RHR, and blood works...just so you keep on top of things. Get a walk in everyday, and lift weights! I made the dumb mistake of just falling into zealotry of diet culture without respecting my own body.

Amazing work! I haven't done blood work in years, makes me want to do the same. After this summer, I'll have been carnivore (off and on) for 8 months. About to start another 100 day strict sprint. And thank you for breaking down the science of the relationships between HDH and LDL. It's far more complicated (but also very logical) than the conventional "LDL=bad" narrative. Just subbed! I was on carnivore for 4 months last year. I had horrible diarrhea then abdominal pain and ended up in the ER. I had an obstruction of stool in my intestines from eating just meat and almost got a colostomy bag. I was in the hospital for 6 days, got cleaned out and never doing strict carnivore again. The GI doctor said I was not the first on carnivore that had the same symptoms. The impaction blocked my bowels but some liquid stool got around it, thus the diarrhea. Never doing that again. I did OMAD with veggies and lost my 97 pounds in 11 months that was my goal.

The cholesterol number that matters is the particle count and size of the LDL. Specifically the number of particles smaller than 20nm. The larger particles are no risk, but a high number of small particles is what is dangerous. Regular LDL test measures the mass per ML of blood, it’s useless without knowing the particle count and size.

I’d recommend you get fat and your protein eat normal your body will adjust and naturally get you to to the weight made for you. Once weight lifting and excise is being done you’ll be fine. Your body missing out on the nutrition it needs to build muscle and other things and to keep your hormones in check. You got the body you had from years and years of bad habits it’s not a race to the bottom.

Very good. My doctor lowered my ldl from 200 to 50. Then i did my research. People with higher ldl live longer. Statins do reduce cholesterol but the association to heart disease is weak at best. The statin 4S drug trial showed no difference in ACM and relative difference of 37%. But absolute difference 1%. This is the math game. Cholesterol is needed for most cells which are being continuously replaced. Our brains make their own cholesterol. Statins go through the blood brain barrier and reduce production. They also lower CoQ10 and K2 production. The culprit for inflamatjon is high carb SAD. This drives high triglycerides and CRP. Check out Dr David Diamond videos on the history of diet and cholesterol. Also Dr Nadir Ali.

Pat, Congrats on all you have accomplished. You are an inspiration to so many people. Heart disease is such an all encompassing subject. I really don't think the scientists themselves really understand it. Seems to me there are so many variables that cause the disease that it is extremely hard to pinpoint any one particular culprit. Living a happy life that is well balanced and not extreme in anything(a life of moderation in every aspect of daily living) seems to be the answer for people living in this crazy world where we exist today. The majority of people in our land of plenty have been so dumbed down and controlled by corporation commercial influences that they make all the wrong choices and ultimately suffer the consequences brought on after years and years of self abuse. Heart Disease is the biggest killer of Americans(600,000 deaths per year) yet you hardly hear about it. Obesity is epidemic and it doesn't come alone.

Your video is what I’ve been looking for to help me determine if it is something I should do. I’ve watched so many videos and no doubt see the lies perpetuated on the American people since the 1960’s and onward; culminating in the governments AMA food scale. Tons of information that it doesn’t work and that we are fatter and more unhealthy since its advent. How real studies were suppressed to the contrary of the AMA. I’m not a conspiracy theorist but just shows that suppression of information in science and medicine has been going on for many many years not just recently. My issue with carnivore is that I adore eating my salads and legumes. I am obviously a product mentally of my upbringing starting in the 70s but that does not negate my palate for such carbs as part of my overall diet. I’m getting I would need to start with a low carb diet and wean myself into a ketogenic diet; then eventually go carnivore. I can’t imagine being successful in jumping right into carnivore, nor from my research would it be advisable. Question: how did you transition to carnivore?

Please correct me if I am wrong but. Plaque build up in your arteries, is the direct result of damage to those arteries due to Inflammation. How much Inflammation you have is going to very depending on a variety of issues/circumstances. However it does not change the fact that your LDL numbers do not matter provided you have little to no Inflammation. How do you know how much Inflammation you have? A C-Reactive Protein test during your blood work. Now C-Reactive Protein is not a direct marker for Inflammation but it does help provide a bench mark as to whether it is high, medium or low. Which in return would tell you if you are at risk of stroke or heart attack assuming it was high. Now based on what I have just said and the information Patrick provided about his Homocysteine levels, I would guess he has a low C-Reactive Protein level thus making his LDL irrelevant. Patrick you may want to consider requesting a C-Reactive Protein test added to your Blood Lipid Panel to see what it is for curiosities sake.

Great results! Been doing Carnivore for six months and feel great! I don't see any research on why it would improve your testosterone and it depends what time of the day they did blood work. Testosterone is always higher in the morning so if the blood work isn't done at the same time every check up then that could be reasons for the fluctuation in numbers. Losing weight helps but eventually when men get older they will need testosterone replacement therapy if they want to keep feeling twenty-one.

I'm 4 months into carnivore and my LDL shot from 121 to 252. My doctor called me all frantic about starting statins and explained that I wasn't concerned since my Trig / DL < 1. I lost 40 lbs, and I am insulin sensitive for the first time in my life. I think that we need to question the dogma related to LDL because the knee-jerk response to 'your LDL is high, and so you now I need a statin' is short sighted and it doesn't take the entire context into consideration.
