GAMDZANI, GEORGIA - Today we’re in Samtskhe-Javakheti southern region of Georgia, an area where Georgia, Armenia, and Turkey all come together. We’re meeting up with the nicest Armenian family who are preparing for us a huge Armenian feast - a barbecue on the picturesque side of the lake. You don’t want to miss any of the food, let’s start eating!
A huge thank you Kristo from Culinary Backstreets culinarybackst... for taking me on this food tour today. They offer tours in cities around the world and if you use my code “migrationology10” you can get a discount on booking food tours.
So it was a couple of hours drive from Tbilisi, and it’s a totally different setting in Samtskhe-Javakheti. The mountains are gorgeous and green and the lifestyle is more relaxed with plenty of space. The specific village we visited was called Gamdzani and it’s mainly an Armenian village. Kristo had known this family and they run a restaurant and lodge called Family Corner (goo.gl/maps/gj.... It’s truly a one of a kind mountain lodge where you can stay and eat family cooked Armenian food in Georgia. But instead of eating at the restaurant, they took the bbq and all the ingredients to the lake where they set up a huge lakeside Armenian bbq. There was over 13 types of kebabs and so many other side dishes as well, including dolma!
It was a meal and a setting in nature that I’ll never forget.
Again, thank you to Kristo and Culinary Backstreets for arranging - culinarybackst... (code: migrationology10)

So I live in the UK and a Georgian family has just moved in next door and I've made friends with the son and I can say first hand that they are the most hospitable people you could ever wish to meet. The way they welcome you to their dinner table is unlike any other culture I've experienced. And the food is unreal , it really is amazing the way they cook and season meats.

Georgian wine is also very good. I think we can all agreed that the exception to Georgian hospitality was the monster Josef Stalin.

The cooker Samuel is a humble and kind man. Not a lot of people express themselves well with compassion and genuine feelings and thoughts. You can feel that he truly is happy and appreciate Mark’s kind thoughts to visit this beautiful place. Language barrier shouldn’t keep us people from enjoying life while we are still here in this planet. I wish even without understanding each other’s language that people could help and company one another without judging someone for who they are…. This is one of the most beautiful episodes I have ever seen from Mark. Wishing everyone in this video the greatest health and a bright future. Love you all. ❤❤❤❤

I follow a family of 5 on Instagram who’ve been travelling around the world while also schooling them and when they have Wi-Fi they get their kids to do online classes on the laptops or iPads, the kids are between the age 7 and 15 years old but it works for them and has befitted the children mentally. She was Armenian and her family would cook for me some of the most fantastic Armenian dishes. I worked for her about 5 years before moving to Nevada. After I moved she died, along with her husband, from cancer. It broke my heart because I knew I would never experience the kind of food that you shared in this video--although I did recognize the eggplant--they made incredible eggplant dishes for me. 😆 we need a bigger table for this awesome spread fit for a king. What a beautiful feast. ❤️ They are so hospitable. Mark is eating like he's never eaten before, I can't blame him. 😂 Remember Mark no smacking 😂 😋🤤

Every show that I have watched, you are absolutely magnificent. With all these troubled times in the politics and the issues, you still have time to go to other cultures in lands and see the culture presented as it is and the food as well. You do a fantastic job as an ambassador.❤😂
