I'm right there with you... I was just thinking how gorgeous the dresses are and how exoticaly sexy they both look in the dresses! I loved their shows oops my age is showing 😋😀
+Demetrick Louis: In fact, both shows likely filmed in studios next to one another... or possibly even on the same sound stage at times. In fact, Carol Burnett likewise appeared on the Sonny and Cher show. So, think of it as a performer exchange to help boost each other's show ratings. In fact, I actually liked the variety show format with its clever skits, funny repartee, singing romps and amazing costumes. It's really too bad it mostly died with the 70s. The last vestige of the variety show format that exists today is in Saturday Night Live.
I liked Cher better before all the plastic surgery. I found she had charm and character with thinner lips, uneven teeth and her strong nose. She always had fabulous style! Two great ladies of show business here!
The Cher haters below forget she has had a top ten record in every decade, she is a grammy winner and Academy Award winner and is still a major force in the entertainment industry----now she is at the top of her game with her Dressed To Kill Tour! Stop bashing her with regard to how long her own show stayed on the air, at least she had the guts to get out there and do what she loved to do no matter who put her down. As far as being on the stage with Carol, she more than held her own! I love Carol but how many stadiums has she sold out in her career? Cher's Dressed To Kill Tour has been sold out every time---When I saw her live and she entered singing Woman's World she had everyone in Wells Fargo Center on their feet! She tore that stage up with her performance!
Carol was never a stadium show star, she didn't try to be. She truly was a variety show actor, it was her forte. She could handle comedy, drama, and musicals. But I believe her first love was the TV equivalent of vaudeville - the variety show. When they went away, she just kind of retired. And the boob tube took a loss.
This is what all around talent is about. Cher is the only big talent I've yet to see in concert that's still alive. You may knock her for some of her actions but she's her own person and is so much mentally tougher than 99.999% of her naysayers.
This is truly dynamic, two icons on the same stage looking stunning without being trashy, back when women were sexy without being trashy,Carol and Cher were a true example of that.Like at the end of their number how they went out into the audience and interact with them and included them into their act, very very typical of Carol Burnett. These women are just awesome!!!True elegance!!!
Ooh I'd give anything to be able to wear Carol's gown maybe in flesh tone or lime green It's perfect for the less well-endowed woman like me idk my boobs may be even smaller than Carol's
My daughter though that Cher Barbie doll was drag queen Barbie! I was shocked to hear her say that so young! She loves Cher & hadn't realized that she was so much older than me & from my era
Jees I remember the days when we tuned into these fantastic variety shows every week. Song and dance and the funniest skits were all we needed. Loved Carol, loved Cher. Too bad we can't find anything even remotely similar these days.
'knock knock who's there...Im carol I'm cher...variety!" What talented ladies!!! They made it look easy but that's not an easy skit to do. I never tire of watching these two...especially this clip...TIMELESS TALENT!! Thank you for posting this!!
All the commenters seem to forget that Cher is a guest on the Carol Burnett show Carol was/is one of the greatest talents out there. Cher was/is beautiful, but her talents are quite different from Carol Burnett's.
Cher has quintessential 1970s hair. Whenever I think back to what little of the 70s I remember, I think of the high school girls having that hairstyle.
This was the era when there were swith performers who actually had class & talent. And there were only 3 networks.... Now we get "reality shows" on hundreds of no-nothing channels Ugh
if tv was like that 2day id plug in my 2 flat screens & get cable asap! Cher was/is phenominal and carol will always b a tv fav for me: 2 legends side by side! A++!
I loved Cher's super long straight hair in the 70s. By the way her show only lasted two Seasons because she reconciled with Sonny and they got their show back together and then it stopped in 1977. So chronologically the Sonny & Cher show went from 1971 to 1974 and then Cher did her show and Sonny did his own show then they got back together and did a revived Sonny & Cher show from 75 to 77.
WATCHING T.C.B.S. IN THE LATE 60'S I WAS 10 YEARS OLD AND NEVER REALIZED UNTIL DECADES LATER SHE HAD A HOT FIGURE! CAROL PLAYED UP THE COMEDY SO MUCH THAT HER SLIM FIGURE WAS NEVER HIGHLIGHTED. HER TALENTS GOES ON AND ON!
Her figure was highlighted, it’s just that it was highlighted in a bad way. A lot of jokes are just other characters making fun of her figure for looking like a kid or like a guy. Oof.
The Carol Bernett Show was taped in Studio 33 at CBS Television City in Hollywood. This is the same studio where The Price Is Right is taped. The steps that Carol and Cher walked down are the same steps where contestants walk up on The Price Is Right.
Cher's show was taped in the studio behind 33 (they shared dressing rooms) and they popped in on each other's tapings a lot. (See the one on Cher's show where Carol comes out in a Cher wig and Bob Mackie halter dress and Cher shows up looking like Carol, complete with autograph book and ear tug. :) )
