Are the brillance of Rooney Mara , Amazing a woman that does not need acting literally coming from a extremly wealthy family . She's the very definition of not just a another pretty face!
This movie really hit me. I relate so much to it. I've watched it a few times and I almost never rewatch movies. There aren't many lesbian movies that really hit the mark like this.
There is hope in the ending. Hope for a true beginning. Terese's eyes are open. She isn't an inexperienced girl any longer. She has known the pain of love and has a scar to show for it. But the scar holds a love so matchless that finally she can meet Carol's full gaze on equal footing, finding it unnecessary to look away. They will be together again...as though for the first time and their knees will be unsteady for a very long time.
I am not lesbian, but this is one of the most beautiful romantic/love films I have ever seen! The scene in the car when Carol picks Therese up to their trip... perfect visualisation of the feeling "totally fascinated and in love"...
I truly believe that Carol is the representation of the love between two women, and we have Call me by your name for the love between two men, at least in a film. It's just... so beautiful. No offense:_(
It doesn't matter one's sexual preference; the intention of the movie (like the director Todd Haynes and the screenwriter Phyllis Nagy stated in many interviews) is that of representing a love story, not a lesbian love, but love in the purest sense. It's about sincere and profound love between two people, that is however considered immoral by society. Personally, I think that this love story is something so beautiful, so profound and indefinable, that everyone can somehow relate to it 😊😍
@@primolla4609 Actually, the book is written with an omniscient storyteller, which is describing every single part from the acts but otherwise is also describing everything from Therese´s eyes
Was the same for me, their eyes meet and the acceptance ti each other is complete, is li ke saying here I am and I want to be with you for ever. Love is the only powerful in this World that can make life worth living irrespective of the form it takes.
cate blanchett deserved an oscar for this performance. Although she was nominated!! As she shouldve. But would really have loved it if she got it. She was absolutely astonishing in this movie.
Reading the book after watching the movie further deepened my love for it. It just gives SO much insight into the what Therese actually feels in all those moments, it's just so so beautiful. Todd Haynes did such a beautiful job directing the movie and I think Patricia Highsmith would've really loved it had she been alive to watch it.
I totally agree Ive read the book twice since watching the movie and this is one of the movies that did total justice to the book. The acting is so beautiful and mesmerising ahhh its so beautiful I can't get enough of it
Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett made history with this masterpiece and Carol was the perfect bringing to life of The Price of Salt :) my forever favourites
The most romantic film ever made in this decade. A picture from carol can make you think and feel a lot emotions and that is so next level. I hope there is part 2. I wanna see Therese and Rindy get along together.
This music has so much feels. Throughout the movie and book, Carol's voice and personality shine the brightest. The only book that i read over and over again and the only movie that i watch over and over again. Both Cate and Rooney are simply amazing.
2019.. still listening to it... it soothes me and clams me.. and so many years later the song Lovers still gives me the picture of that night in the motel of Waterloo.. when Carol said that famous line. "my angel, flung out of space". I'm crying out a tsunami and having goosebumps
I watched it because i liked cate in ocean's 8 and think of giving this a try now here i am after reading the book twice and watching the movie so many time and im still not over it. it is indeed the best movie ive ever seen the perfect depection of true love
Much of the music in this movie to me depicts feelings that are having to be hidden. The music isn't allowed to do more. It must be careful yet the music is uplifting in parts. These two women who meet, they must be careful. It is the right time for them both but in the wrong era. A wonderful movie.
Sometimes we think that true love only exists in fiction. The way Todd Haynes takes the film to show us that indeed from the inside can magically flourish a feeling between two people is wonderful. But without a doubt, Patricia Highsmith manages to transmit it through The Price of Salt that at least in the mind can exist ...
The way the book translates love really shocked me, I’ve never read something that’s been able to really capture what love FEELS like and make it almost visual.
This will always be my comfort movie, when this song comes up, it always gives me a soothing feel. My soul feels relaxed. I lay in bed, thinking about the comfort but still passion between two ppl when they're in love.
I rewatched the movie recently and discovered some subtleties that I may have missed the first time around. It's so emotionally nuanced. I'm a straight woman but after watching Cate in this movie, I started questioning my sexuality 😅.
I am 100% straight but it appears only when watching Cate Blanchett I become gay. I dont know what's happening but there is something about Cate Blanchett that is so mesmerizing and ethereal, so full of charm, passion in the eyes and in the way she talks, moves..everything that truly drowns you to her so much it's impossible not to feel attracted to her. I dont know, she is just very rare gem (as woman, person, as actress).
A music so deep and sad like the story…the class and the beauty of Cate…the struggle of a gay relationship…sadness that only homosexuals can feel. Beautiful movie ❤️🇮🇹🇬🇧🇺🇸🌈
SIN DUDA ALGUNA ES UNA DE MIS FAVORITAS. ESTA PELÍCULA DEBIÓ HABER SIDO GANADORA DE AL MENOS UN OSCAR. LOS ACTORES, EL DIRECTOR, LA MÚSICA, LA AMBIENTACIÓN, EL DISEÑO DE VESTUARIO; MEJOR DICHO ESTA PELÍCULA ME DEJO SIN PALABRAS. ES TAN DELICADAMENTE MAGNIFIC.
@@manognamatam5720 Agree, I've recently came across some comments mentioning Portrait being better than Call Me by Your Name, or The Handmaiden being better than Portrait... dunno why the comparison came up -I mention Handmaiden here, because I consider it just as great as Carol and Portrait- I consider them the perfect sapphic movies trio, but I love the four movies tho.
In my view, the best film of 2015, with the best soundtrack. I had no deep interest in the subject matter, and saw the movie a little reluctantly. It grabbed me by the throat and dragged me right in.
this never fails to make me cry. i need the music sheets so i can learn. but fr, carol was one of the most beautiful films i've EVER seen. i listen to this all the time. carter burwell is amzing, thank you so much
This whole soundtrack gives me the feeling of that quote from Salinger, "Love is a touch and yet not a touch." And the whole movie, the love in the story, the interaction between Cate and Rooney somehow showed that too.
@@celestetselec wow that quote sounds like it was made for that film. also there's a quote, "She never made sense, but neither does love". and some how i can feel therese and carol thinking the same about each other. all i can say is that the film was beautiful and its a work of art
@@susan-g5u awww I like it!! Thanks for the sharing.. i've been watching it on a weekly basis and sometimes just put it on and fall asleep to the conversations in the movie.. it gives me a v soothing and gentle feel
oh i totally get you, i always replay the first interaction in the store and then the very last scene, because carols dace, right before the credits make me wanna cry. there’s so much emotion in that half smile that i literally feel it in my heart. wow my life is so sad lmao
@@susan-g5u nooo I totally feel you!! my always-on-replay scene is the moment before the ending Therese walks toward her; On the rooftop at Therese place Carol invites her to the trip and she stares into her and said quietly and firmly "Yes, yes i would." (that scene is SO THRESE); and the "Carol, I miss you" phone call scene omg i have so many my list is endless
This is heavenly music.Another landmark along with shape of water.I read carter burwwell wikipedia....it appears he didnot get matching award & appreciation to his sweet melodies.I happened with me too I got dust instead of pearls or seashells....may be great music & chance to listen to it is my fortune or award. This one soothes the nerves.
Je ne trouve pas la fin triste, au contraire, tout dans leurs regards et leurs sourires montre que Thérèse est d'accord pour que leur histoire continue..
It's bittersweet..also the fact Therese going to Oak and them smiling at each other when their eyes meet makes the audience believe they might give it another shot. That was at least my takeaway.
As cenas mais lindas desse filme na minha opinião, foi a cena do momento que elas se conhecem. O olhar de uma para outra é a coisa mais apaixonante. A parte que a Carol fala que gostou do gorro da Therese e da uma piscada de olho é sensacional. A parte onde elas vão almoçar tbm é demais. A cena final é maravilhosa!
( Patricia Highsmith) " Carol"
I always remember carol cuz of this music and the you belong to me too I don't really like old songs but exit to it I'm really so fukd up in this sht😩✨
