Thanks for watching! That's what I love about their 2015 book as well. The depth of life, maturity, and emotion that they deliberately exposed that year gave me goosebumps every time I watched. Many ensembles across different activities in the world have the ability to line up technical passages cleanly, but no one commands their music with the same style that gives Carolina Crown's horn line their identity. They've had that capability and have taken advantage of it many years, but - for me, at least - it was especially highlighted in this show. I have similar feelings about 2009.

+FreakoftheArts73 You hit the nail on the head with your reply. This years book took me a bit to fall in love with. I had to close my eyes and just listen to the individual peices in the score to appreciate. once I did that, I observed the Carolina Crown that I had fallen in love with. It was a bit subliminal but was still there. then, I enjoyed the show.

I can promise you that Crown's arranger, the teachers, and especially the marching members put significantly more work into the show than I could ever put into it by doing these transcriptions! In reality, it's just a small gift for such a great organization participating in such an incredible activity. Tell ya what, if you keep pretending to be a DCI marcher, then - unless it's an age-out issue - you may one day end up becoming one!

+FreakoftheArts73 thanks man. And I will tryout for next years corps. My band director recommended it. In my state, I'm 7th right now as a 10th grader. I will be 17 next year so age-out won't be an issue.

HAH! Nice ;) You'll catch plenty of wrong notes in this transcription! I do all these by ear, as it brings a strange sense of organic creation and preserved integrity to what I'm doing as a fan. Otherwise, I'm quite literally stealing their work! I'm glad you enjoy the transcription!

Hey! Finger dexterity is a much quicker adjustment than you'd think if you approach it patiently and consistently. 15 minutes a day in the Clarke book or Arban's Conservatory method (or anything with scale exercises and arpeggios) starting at snail-like tempos and speeding up VERY gradually will get you there in under a month, and your facility will surpass many of those who play valve instruments on a regular basis if you conquer all 12 keys until they feel comfortable. If you have a private lessons teacher, he/she can help greatly with keeping you on the right pace, as our tendencies will always be to progress too quickly with building any fundamental skill (resulting in holes in our proficiency with that skill). A good teacher will keep you honest - but if not - recording yourself and listening back is also an extremely effective way of keeping yourself honest (and you should do it anyway). Good luck!

FreakoftheArts73 Yea keeping a consistent air stream helps too and memorizing patterns. In our band, we don't really have many fast runs like that. One of the many perks to joining a drum corp.

Thanks for listening and watching! I'm not sure when/if my next project will be started at all, unfortunately. We will see what the future holds, though. Not all drum corps organizations are okay with content released relating to their organization that didn't come specifically from their organization. I seem to remember that they prefer to regulate their media content (which is completely understandable and 100% their right to do), so that may have something to do with why there aren't many Cavs transcriptions out there. Don't quote me on that one though - I could be completely wrong!

Finale 2012 to write the music, audacity to edit the sound files once they're exported, CamStudio with Lossless Codec to capture the video, and Windows Live Movie Maker to edit the video and sync it with the audio, as well as create any of the simple special effects in the video. All programs except Finale are free, but some of them are incompatible with current system upgrades (Windows 10, for example, doesn't support Movie Maker anymore), so one day I will probably do a full upgrade to all my programs and an expansion to my editing tools. If I'm still transcribing shows, you'll definitely see the difference. Thanks for watching :)
