This very well may change throughout the season. Don't forget that this was shot on day 7 or 8 of move-ins!

The audio is clearly hitting the Zoom's internal limiter though. Try bringing the gain lower next time and then amplify in post.

Yeet Yoot if this corps is like every other corps except for BD or BC then probably not because they expect those frequencies to come out from a mouthpiece not designed for the upper register, can honestly say I get tired of directors saying 3C mouthpieces are the best, and in a screaming case, they are everything but. They are not the right tool for the job. It's like hammering a nail in with a thumbtack. The reason the BD and BC are normally on top is partially because their upper register players (aka screamers) are in tune with the ensemble. And they are in tune do to the fact that the players use mouthpieces designed for such rigorous playing. But to answer your question simply, no they trumpet players are, sadly, not screaming, you are just hearing the overtones created by intonation. And I wish directors would get off that stupid "same mouthpiece, same sound" bullshit! No two players will sound alike, we each have our own sound and can only mimic another. There's a reason you don't hear much Armstrong in DCI, hint, it's because Louis had his own sound. Hmmm, and what did he play on? Well, just you friendly neighborhood 7C mouthpiece. But as a fellow trumpet enthusiast, I wish that all the Lead Trumpet Players in DCI would receive a nicely designed GR or equivalent Lead mouthpiece, then every corps would have that fabulous top register, capable of extending chords out in crazy distances. Sorry for the rant, just agrivates me when I see this crap happen everywhere.
