I don't understand the prioritization of these older players. I get that Turbo and Guentzel are good, but they've peaked. We'll end up like the Capitals if we sign them to big deals before resigning Necas, Jarvis, and other young free agents. If we give anyone an 8x8 deal, it shouldn't be Guentzel, dude has 4 years at this level tops. Necas should be the top priority for an 8x8 deal because he's still showing that he has more to give and he'll actually be worth it for those 8 years. Jarvis is an obvious choice as well. If we need to make room to make Jarvis and Necas stick around, it should be Turbo and Guentzel that are sent off to make the space for it.
@@tommyinacio4696 prioritizing aging players over players with rising potential isn't a recipe for long term success. Increasing Aho's productivity for a couple of years isn't going to make up for the loss of Necas for 8 years.
@@FalloutUrMum I love Necas and wish it would work out here, but the fit isn't there anymore, he wants a role that the hurricanes cannot give him, hence the inevitable trade that's coming. If you can keep jake for under 9 million, you do it. Aho needs elite talent next to him.
It's a first offer and good starting place, if we want to keep him it will be bumped up closer to 8.5 million. and Orlov is not trash , he is just overpaid and only has one more year left on his deal.
@@keslertyner1986 first half of the season I would agree with you . After that he was easily top 3 or 4 Both Pesce and Burns fell off a cliff. He is overpaid yes , but he’s not trash by any means . Him and chatty we’re getting the most ice time of any d pair in the playoffs and played well.
