Considering the show requires a harp (must have one for "If I Loved You" among other pieces), that's not really reason enough to ditch the entr'acte. It's just that there is a big score for the show and it is among the first things cut to leave room on the recording. I have a full orchestra recording of it from when I was in the show many years ago. Fortunately the local Rotary was sponsoring the show and we were able to perform in a legit theatre with a good sized orchestra. Thanks for posting Thomas!
We now have a new professional recording of this entr'acte, and it has taken nearly 30 years after this BBC broadcast!!! Wow!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cv1Xva9j0bU.html&pp=ygUSQ2Fyb3VzZWwgRW50cidhY3Rl
Orchestrated by Joe Glover not John Glover. He often assisted Robert Russell Bennett and worled on a bunch of shows without credit, but did get co-orchestrator credit on A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
Many thanks for the correction. Fixed it! P.S. Love your work on the Encores! series. Hope that the ill-fated staging of Love Life lives on someday, in happier times.
This is the only recording I've ever heard of. Where is it from? In any case, Thomas, the entr'acte was written by Jon Glover, and not by Don Walker. Walker was working on a show of his own, and farmed out a few of the songs to other orchestrators. Rodgers decided at the last minute when the show was about to reach new York that he needed an entr'acte, and Glover was tapped for the job. The entr'acte is often left out when the show is produced. Among other things, it calls for a harp. But thank you very much for posting it - I have been looking for it for years!!!
