This was probably my favourite fishing session in ages. Fishing this amazing tiny secret London river produced some real surprises. Rudd, Roach, Carp, Chub, Tench and Perch all came out of this session. I was blown away!

You are becoming my favourite RU-vid angler. I used to live beside the Wandle in South London and never gave it a try, despite hearing tales of big fish. Must give it a try some day.

You should check out 'Barbel fishing on a tiny London river'. It's the Wandle in Colliers Wood. Ps, i was brought up in the localish area.

What an urban gem that little river is what stunning examples of coarse species just awesome its cheered me up im in my bivvy on the banks of a scottish loch freezing lol cheers andy top angling

Hi Andy, great video mate. It just goes to show what fun you can have on these tiny waterways that are so often completely overlooked by anglers that only want to catch 20lb+ carp in overstocked lakes. I thought the chub was a blinder but to catch the carp as well ....top man

Excellent video! I regularly fish the wandle and that's a lovely productive river. Never had carp, trench or rudd out of there though. Keep posting great videos!

Wow. What a surprising little video. Unless you could see the fish its the kind place you'd look at and think its so narrow and shallow that there's probably nothing in it except minnows and stickleback. That was a right magical session for you. I bet you definitely weren't expecting that.

Love these vids Andy - something about catching from these small streams and rivers. In the winter I visit several small rivers where I live in Essex - great fishing . I’ll be looking at all your vids again through this lockdown. 👍👍

Great fishing mate, my dad used to catch big carp, bream, roach, tench, chub and pike down my local river but it has been ottered in recent years, he has had carp to 15 pound and he’s seen them to 30 down there, so it’s great to see wild carp still about

Lovely. I lure fished the river lea off Hackney wick today for 1 hour. Made me think of you lol. I didn't catch anything but saw and felt a small perch bite my lure! Unfortunately the lure was way too big for it.

Great video mate. I come across your channel through the broads videos. Only used to do a bit of fly fishing about 15 years ago. Really think I might start doing some budget stuff myself. Any advice on gear?

Hello mate, nothing specific, but I'd recommend starting light,.match rod, reel, some float gear and an unhooking matt and net, have a look on line loads of good stuff for sale, you can get branded stuff 2nd reasonably too. Or if you have a local tackle shop they usually stock entry level stuff. Let me know how you get on 👍PS don't forget a disgorger. 😀 thanks for your comment 👍

Proper fishing that. I fish a lot of commercials nowadays, never get the same buzz as a proper wild venue. Hard to believe that's in London.

@@TheBudgetAngler It used to be good around Chigwell way and Woodford. All over grown now, only see tiddlers. Used to catch 3lb+ chub regular even a few decent pike. Keep up the good work mate I will be watching more even if it helps me find a new place to try out. 👍🏻

Been fishing this river for years now and some of the fish are lovely had a 5lb chub and a 5lb common out of there if u know this river you know there are some nice 5ft deep pools along other bits of this river plus how good the fishing and fish can be .. keep up the good work

Hi Clive, thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it. The fishing here is "free" for want it a better term. The stream mostly runs through green spaces and woods managed by the Council, they don't currently manage the fishing here.👍

That's a shame, there were some very shallow bits that were almost a trickle, when I was there, the deep spots will hopefully shelter the fish until we get some rain 👍

Great vid and fish. Shame about the ingrebourne vid. If there is too much ice flowing down the Roding or frozen over I go to Harold Wood park and trot a stick float . Years ago there were brown Trout and Barbel however the sewage treatment works wiped them out.

Yeah sure a shame, I've heard there are still barbel about on the Ingrebourne but not sure if it's Chinese whispers. A few people have posted some good bream coming out further down towards the Thames ☝️
