Back Carp fishing on the mighty pit 6 chasing a UK first 30lb Common carp. yet again a frustrating session ends on a high but will it be over the magical 30lb barrier. Swim selection, baiting and rigs all covered on this A1 pits adventure.
Really pleased for you. Its been many years since we nearly drowned on a wind lashed Orient. Never thought it would take you that long for your first UK 30lb common but I bet it feels all the better for the wait. Keep it up doing the honest blogs...so rare these days to see one not all bait or product plug! Great stuff!
Thank you James appreciate the kind words. Yes a bit of an adventure the orient was wasn’t it 😆 proper fishing a real adventure I think a lot of people nowadays miss out on. Been catching 30Lb mirrors for 20 years just couldn’t get a common, just unlucky I guess. Only managed to break my French 40Lb barrier this year but then again I don’t fish the stocked commercials I’ve spent the last 15 years fishing a river.
Well done fella!!! I did the same thing with a 20lb common I was up to 75 mirrors and then 7 commons over 20 in a year including 5 over 25lb... madness!!! PB common now 35lb 8oz (north west carp fishing)... Keep up the good work! 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you Neil appreciate the kind words. Strange how it goes isn’t it. Fished 6 last year back end because it’s supposed to be full of 30lb + commons and I managed to catch a 30lb + mirror. Well done on your PB common good fish that especially for the area
Thanks Russ appreciate it mate. Don’t mind if they do the years running out though. We both know what happens by bonfire night frosts and blankety blank 😢😆
Thank you Simon appreciate that mate and thanks for watching. Remember the night on pit 5 we had when I caught that 28:04 common biggest fish of the month and we let cookie win instead, that was 1999. I’ve caught 28lb + commons from every lake I’ve fished since but couldn’t get over the 30 LB barrier
Mate I remember, one of my mates on girton had never caught a thirty common either so he joined belvoir on a silver ticket but only got one this year. You may know him, James money. It’s mad mate, but, at least it’s mission accomplished. Is cookie still on the pits
@@simontolley7401 yes I know James really nice lad used to train in the same gym as him 20 years ago. Cookie was on last year not seen him this year. Think he did a couple of 5-7 week sessions last year 😳. Somethings don’t change eh!. Hope you and the family are well say hello to doors👍
Thank you Paul appreciate that mate. Not long back from France where I broke my French Pb at 44lb. When I put the pit 6 common on my scales you should have seen my face it was total shock thought it was about 26-27 but then again I thought the Norton fish was a good 20 😆 so maybe I need to calibrate my arms 😳
Thank you Kevin appreciate the comment and support mate. Try to include a bit of everything, rigs and fish care, without trying to sound patronising or like I know it all. We are all still learning 👍
Thank you Michael appreciate the comment 👍 your first fish or 30lb carp? Either way keep at it they will come it’s been very tricky this autumn. I have seen some very big fish come out that have not made the internet. They have been very area specific this fall I fished next to two brothers a couple of weeks ago one blanked and the other had 13 fish while I was there. Both very capable anglers and knew there stuff it was just one was on fish that simple they wouldn’t move and that was in open water!
@@waitingfortheweekend2441 sadly my my first fish. I just blanked this weekend on the A1 side. No fish showing and a south westerly so I got in the north east corner of put 6 thinking, it's been hacking in for a few days but nothing. Then Sunday Northernly so I thought, new cold wind and I'm on the back! Nope....tufties diving down. Never give in though.
Strange how it goes isn’t it caught my first 30lb mirror over 20 years ago and have had 28lb+ commons from every lake I’ve fished but always missed out on the 30’s
