Donny Brasco and I go out for a power cruise on these two badass muscle bikes. Check out the reactions from Donnie riding a cruiser versus the superbike that you're used to seeing him on.
5UP I know how bad the mileage is on mine that's just stock with a tune to eliminate intake backfires. Can't imagine how bad it is with that full Carpenter set up.
+Gurren Ridin' yeah I don't mind her fuel economy on any of my bikes. Because they are not a source of transportation they are source of joy. and I'd be making an assumption if I say that the mileage isn't much worse but I'm always a lot harder on the throttle now.
I put together a rocket 3 with a piston, head and cam set from the same outfit. I thought the bike was a beast as it was, my god the acceleration and torque on that bike! Not working at a triumph dealership anymore and as much as I miss riding their entire line, I do miss the rocket. I don't care much for cruisers in general, but that bike is like nothing else. If you have any doubts, go see if you can get a test ride. The funniest test riders are harley people, always coming in bragging about how much they spent on their bike and how fast it is. One ride on the rocket and they come back shaking their heads, the first thing most of them do is whack the throttle in 2nd gear not knowing what will happen. What little they usually say coming back shows that they scared themselves, and then they got back on their turd bikes and left.
Good Lord man. I took a bone stock one out last weekend and it was quick as all hell. Couldn't even imagine yours. But the POV took me along for the ride and my palms were sweating LOL.
0:55 this is what 2.3 litres of torque monster looks like. Tell you what though the 2019 version is stunning, looks meaner than the X-Diavel and has an even bigger and more powerful engine.
Not really as this bike has got a massive tune and huge amount of work done. Stock the Ducati would have eaten it alive and to be fair even looked to hold its own in places.
I've got no dog in the fight means I own all of these bikes. But the rocket is definitely more of a cruiser and huge amounts of work? not really too sure about that but it definitely has pistons and a cylinder head Port job done and camshafts. Set up of the bike and anything else to alter it for high-speed is 0
@@5up614 stripping an engine down to pistons etc is big work in my eyes especially $6000 worth, thats what most people spend on bikes lol it must be amazing to have that amount of torque and power. Must be real hard to hang on ! Lol the comment was about thats what 2.3 litres of torque looks like but it isn't as its 100hp over stock. Great vid
Hey thank you. I still look at it as being even cheaper than the combined cost of that Ducati with the super expensive exhaust system LOL. I'm one of those guys that likes to have something that I can mod and maybe do a little different than the next guy 🙃. I will live in Harley country out here and people look at you cross-eyed when you tell them what kind of bikes you have and what you ride LOL
This was the only other bike on my shortlist when I boughtmy M109R. It would’ve been top of my list but with 30” inside leg the seat height vs weight I didn’t fancy balancing 800lbs on my toes in the yard!
I am 6 foot tall and because of the launch characteristics of this bike I lowered it 1 in in the rear with icon coilovers. Made it much easier to throw around
I use to have a 1997 Valkyre that was pretty fast. I would smoke most sport bikes under 1000 cc!! They would really be surprised!! I miss that bike. It was BIG but it handled like a smaller bike with that flat 6 motor. All the weight was down low!!!
My husband is the "Duke"... ask Bob Carpenter about him.... his was one of the first 4 off the line with the 265+.......... he has over 65,000 miles on it and NOT A SINGLE GLITCH!!! (He's grounded now cause he needs a rear tire and will ONLY run Avon cause that's the only thing that sticks with the beast - not available until July 25th '19) I have an original dyno to prove it too.
When in doubt, buy both! Seriously, the new Rocket 3 will re-set the bar...then, some garage will screw more power out of it. It will make John Bloors decision to scrap the 200mph concept exercise a few years ago (pre Rocket3) a bit daft.
It's unfortunate the R3R speedo just stops at 140 :( Thankfully, the POD-300 gauge doesn't and you can see your speed on it, if you dare look down lol.
Loved the video. In the next couple of weeks my TFC R3 should be here and I plan on doing a few videos about the bike. I've been shooting some 360 videos and they are amazing. I also have an old video running my Bro on his R3 and me on my M109R. If you search M109R vs Rocket 3 you'll see he got me by about a bike length. That was in 2007 and it was all in fun. Your video reminded me of those days. I also drove a Boss Hoss for about 5 years and it was fun to get with my buddies and play like you guys did. Love the torque of a big cruiser. Your video got me all excited again. Good job
+Alan Landry Jr absolutely you're going to see a video that's really going to be a curveball coming out here soon we're into all sorts of different stuff not just Superbikes here
I just purchased a 2014 Rocket 3 and LOVE IT! Was the power commander as a stand alone upgrade worth the money and was there a noticeable change in power? BTW this video is what made me park the Harley and buy this bike!
5UP yes I know! Huge Ministry fan here! I haven’t heard that song in years and I almost fell outta my chair when I heard it. I’ve been watching you and your videos since I first saw you on 650’s video introducing you and your awesome bike collection. Keep em coming man 👍
Cant imagine another 100 horse on top of what my rocket III has. As you said the tire goes up in smoke or wheelie. So damn near more power than you can use. Unless you are at a drag strip with a slick on back.
With a fresh Metzler and the tire air down and warm it handles the extra power no problem depending on the road surface. But that is only 1st gear 2nd gear knob it begs for more power and I use it all the time 😉
Great video, cant wait for spring to get mine back out. May I ask what the price was for the engine upgrade, I like the idea of that build versus a blow since you have such a great HP increase yet no one would know it isnt stock.
Hey thank you. it is approximately a $6,000 Drive-In drive-out package from Carpenter but the header Power Commander and any other extras are additional.. I also upgraded the clutch because the steals are too thin and back before most of the engine work was done when it was just bolt ons I warped the steel plates. So carpenter has figured out a hybrid hayabusa clutch pack that works in the rocket and I have had no issues with it. But obviously this is severe duty I have gone 10.2 at 124 miles per hour at the drag strip with this bike so far hand clutching in foot shifting.
Great info, just watched your cruiser brawl. Great watching a rocket walk all over those bikes. Finally the aftermarket is catching up a bit, even just 5 years ago there were little options for exhaust upgrades.
+Mike Stewart it's a $6,000 package initially which picks you up over a hundred horsepower and big torque it puts down 175 foot pounds of torque through that big shaft drive
@@MrMitokiller Diavel rider probably couldn't ride. Off the line a x diavel is pretty much their fastest 0-60 bike with power launch enabled. Top end not so much due to wind.
I lived in Alberta, Canada, How much do you think it would cost to ship my R3 to Carpenter to get the mod and back??? I believe they are in New jersey,USA?
Get ahold of daily direct haul bikes. Very nice Shipping Company you don't have to create the bike offer extra insurance also they shipped mine from Michigan to New Jersey
can't beat 2018vmax 1700 my friend have diavel and we race couple of time after refresh max got over 180 hp and top speed 175 mph i got 2016 rocket 3 tork monster love
Now THIS is what you need to bring out to the hwy smackdowns with your other 'buddies' rides. There's a vid on RU-vid that shows this Carpenter Rocket 3 smoking a Hayabusa from a roll on a highway too, a few races with all wins for Triumph. Bring that thing to ibs channel already! !! SUBBED great video too.
Alberto Jr. Carreon I’ve got the vmax and it’s fantastic, I plan to one day own the rocket 3. I’ve seen a diavel in person and I just didn’t like it as much as the rocket and vmax. I’d like to drive one just to see how it handles though
@@5up614 either way it however a much more versatile bike not just a straight line bike. Wonder what a stock rocket would be like. That would be a much better comparison.
The rocket does not handle bad for its size that's for sure. I would not so much compared it to the Diavel as to a V-Rod or Harley counterpart. but both are impressive bikes but would much rather take rocket on a longer trip much smoother and much more command of the road.
Man, that Rocket is insane! I know you're at Ducati Detroit a lot, so I assume you live in the area? Would love to ride with you guys sometime. I'm pretty sure you guys were riding with my buddy Andy in 650ibs H2 video.
Yes it is. Obviously I won't be able to hang when it comes to smack-downs, but I can always flag you guys off or something lol. I'm really hoping we have an early spring here. Can't handle not being able to ride over the winter...
