PERIOD! Yet look at how BEAUTIFUL she looks. I adored her Soooo much. But I often time thought she was very sad and that she was crying out much in her songs and I remember her story some news reporter made a awful comment about he referring to her as your fat chubby little sister rather and from that moment, she thought was fat funny people say that words cannot hurt, but that is not true. Words can kill the spirit - I know because I suffered from words spoken to me as a child. She was a beautiful soul wasn’t.

My thoughts exactly. I'm 60 years old and still get tears in my eyes when I listen to Karen sing. Among the most beautiful voices to ever sing a note.

It is weird I grew up with the Christmas album. Loved it I’m 53 I play heavy thrash metal but heard rainy days and checked her out I didn’t know she played drums!!! She’s a phenom great drummer and angelic voice. No one sings like her.

@Lourdes Ogario, I absolutely agree. These days most female vocalists sound so much alike. Karen was a true singer with a unique vocal quality all her own.

I don't think people of this generation realize the scope of The Carpenter "Close to You" album. I remember seeing that iconic album cover in everyone's home and it was playing on their groovy Hi Fi's. It was also being played virtually everywhere, in stores, restaurants, in elevators, on TV, and on the radio.

I don't think she had perfect pitch - she hits the notes but slides a little. Her voice was amazing - but she had such skill in using it so beautifully. Her lead singing is awesome, but listen to her and Richard harmonizing on his vocal arrangements -THAT will make you cry.

CARPENTERS plain & simple were GIFTED & ANOINTED & ORDAINED by God to impact a Nation & Society at a time of Dark Evil Turmoil dividing America > CARPENTERS Shot Up like a METEOR by God's Hand (15 Mega Hits & 20+M Sales in just 1st 4 yrs.) still a Record today 2021 & they needed to Recognize that Divine Gift & God's Agenda & Seek God's Presence to GUIDE them > Not HOLLYWOOD guiding them.
