What an Amazing career... In a life that was just too short. We have to be Thankful that she touched our Ives in the time she was here. Happy Monday... thank you for sharing! 💖
Thank you Billy for again showing this small clip of a duo and person (Karen Carpenter) that will hopefully never be forgotten. What a beautiful individual and musician Karen was. WOW.
Billy, thank you so much for this great segment. The Carpenters were and still are the amazing singers performers that they were. They were immensely popular for the first part of the '70s decade. Their music was what irresistible. People back then were afraid to say they were into them yet they sold millions of records worldwide. I believe unfortunately it took Karen's untimely death for people to realize how great they were and appreciate them more
Karen Carpenter💐💐💛💛 definitely was an outstanding singer 🎤💐 💐💛💛who had a vocal range from being able to sing My body keeps changing my mind to We've only Just begun to singing Ave Maria acapella🤗🤗💛💛💛💛💛! However, Karen Carpenter was equally an outstanding drummer💐🥁💛💛🤗🤗! Karen Carpenter had such a beautiful voice 🎤💐💛💛🤗🤗 and Richard's musical good ideas brought out the beauty in her voice😃😃👍👍!! And I love how that guitarist🎸 played this solo in Goodbye to Love which made the song sound really cool 😎!! Thanks for sharing and Karen Carpenter 💐💛 was not only very talented but I believe she was a beautiful person inside too💐💐🤗🤗💛💛!!!
That performance of "Dancing In The Street" - from YOUR ALL-AMERICAN COLLEGE SHOW - is one of the top ten Carpenters moments of all time. (Yes, I know it was technically pre-Carpenters, but it still counts!) Goin' to town on those drums, THAT'S Karen Carpenter right there. Even more than that sent-from-Heaven voice because THAT'S where she was happiest. Had I been the Carps' manager, I would NEVER have forced her to give up drumming. REST IN POWER, KC.
@captainfantastic9158 Karen never gave up drumming, they moved her to the front becase people were complaining that they could not see her behind her kit, her Toms were blocking her out and the audience wanted to see her, it was a business decision.
@@mstrunn I know they didn't stop her COMPLETELY. What I'm saying is the decision to drum CONSISTENTLY was taken out of her hands. And that was wrong. That old chestnut about "people couldn't see her"...boo-hoo-hoo. Karen was doing what NO ONE ELSE was doing. That should have been celebrated, not denigrated. THAT'S what made her happy. "Drum for the fast numbers and stand for the slow ones." I don't even think she was happy with THAT arrangement. And as great as Hal Blaine, Jim Gordon, and other sticksmen were, she should have remained the drummer for all of the albums beyond OFFERING and NOW AND THEN. Yes, it was a business decision, but in my opinion, it was the wrong one. But of course, as we know, Karen didn't have much say in what went on in her life, personally or professionally.
@@captainfantastic9158 I'm not completely happy with the decision and being a former pro drummer myself I can understand, but people were complaining and even though RC was a great musician of his own they did come to see him play his keyboard they wanted to see not only hear that beautiful voice, she was a very shy person and I'm sure uncomfortable going out front, but a happy audience brings in the $$$$$, and their decision made Carpenters the #1 selling group of the 70's, so disagree all you want but the bottom line is what was important.
@@mstrunn I get what you mean about keeping your audience happy, absolutely! But, and I know you're simply generalizing, but that decision ALONE isn't what made them the number one group of the seventies. And come on, if they HADN'T brought Karen out front, do you think people would have stopped coming to the shows in protest? So yes, with respect I WILL disagree because that bottom line contributed to her unhappiness, which helped fuel her disease, and NOTHING is more important than a healthy mind and body.
Someone needs to create a soft rock Hall Of Fame.. The Carpenters would be at the very top of that induction class list.. Beautiful and Timeless music they made together..
I totally agree. I feel if they had this category they would easily be nominated very quickly. It's almost like the Grammys. They keep adding so many different categories, that I believe the carpenters would have won more than three Grammys. If there were other categories added back then. Then. Truly believe that. They had such great records. So hard to choose one favorite of them all
The Carpenters were musical geniuses...in a world full of guitar bands and screamers, Bread and the Carpenters, and individuals like James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carole King and many others, could break through the noise so the human heart could be heard above the "testosteronic" noise. They were a duo/group that both parents and teens and children and grandparents could all enjoy. And the quality of there music will outlive many. Timeless. Guys who liked Led Zeppelin certainly didn't have a problem with the Carpenters when at the school dance, their girlfriends wanted to slow dance with them, lol.
Her Voice Was Sounds Like/Inspired By Patsy Cline & Patti Page. 🇵🇭Fililino Singers/Artist Like Of Kz Tandingan, Lea Salonga & Claire Dela Fuente Was Influence By Karen Carpenter On Their Careers ❤❤❤❤😊😮📀👏💽🎞️🎧💾😇♥️🤩🥰👼🤠♥️🎵🎵🎵💿🎶📻☺️😃.....
Can someone identify for me 3 people in the video? Is the 1st woman commenting Shania Twain? Who is the gentleman that loves "Superstar"? Who is the gentleman that commented that Karen is a great drummer?
The first woman looks so familiar, just can’t put my finger on it. I know I saw Sheryl Crow. But the only one I know that you’re asking about, the African American gentleman that loves Superstar is LA Reid.
