Karen is the most beautiful person, most soothing VOICE, and best female drummer music has ever experienced. There is nothing better than listening to the legend Karen Carpenter. When you listen to her she sings past your heart to your soul. One of if not the best voice ever.

Karen's voice is incomparable. They had so many hits. Another gorgeous one is "Solitaire."

Richard Carpenter is a brilliant arranger. They didn't know Karen could sing; she was a drummer for the group. At some point they figured it out and what you have is one of the great singers of all time.

This group was a brother/sister duo. The singer Karen's brother, Richard, was the guy playing the piano. In this pre-computer era, music bands were composed of a group of people who played various instruments; they coordinated with each other to play the composition. This was one of the greats of their decade.

Karen was 21 years old when she sang this song. What is amazing is that Karen did this entire song in one take. Through her own vulnerability she really felt the emotion of every single word. Inna you know talent. Im in my 60s and remember Carpenters well. Herb Alpert heard Karen's voice on a demo in 1969 and signed her brother, Richard, and her to A&M records. Karen received 3 or 4 Grammys in the 70s and sold over 80 million records by 1982. She was 1975 rock drummer of the year according to Playboy. KC had the most beautiful voice-ever, and perhaps THE best female vocalist-ever, because she compels you to listen as she sings in perfect pitch to you, not at you, with emotion and enunciation. No auto-tune or gimmicks. No professional voice or drum instruction. She was known by the studios as 'one take'. She rarely, if ever, did more than one take of any song. She was also the ONLY female harmony/background voice in all her songs. She was truly born with an incredible singing talent. Documentaries point out the accolades to her voice, such as, Paul McCartney said she had the most angelic voice after hearing her sing 'Ticket To Ride'. John Lennon ran into her at an LA restaurant and told her "you have a fabulous voice, luv". Supposedly Frank Sinatra stated that Karen was the only singer he'd pay to hear. Karen Carpenter has the voice of melted chocolate. 'Top of the World' was the very first tune that 'did something to me' when I was a young child. I can still remember it coming on the radio, probably when it was first released around 1972 and me looking at my parents wondering why it wasn't having the same effect on them.

I saw them perform at Harrah's in the late 70s or early 80s.. She had the most beautiful voice.

Of all the singers that have died Karen is the one I miss the most. All the music we never got to hear and the help she did not get in time. She was a beautiful tormented soul that we lost way to soon. Rest easy now.

I wonder how much of current music will be listened to 50 years from now? The lush arrangements by her brother Richard (playing keyboards in this video) were an integral part of The Carpenters magic. And there is no one I've ever heard who could sing like Karen....

The Carpenters were and are the most amazing gifted talented ever! Karen Carpenter had the most pure voice from the heart Ive ever heard in my whole life. The songs, the music, arrangements and her voice are just unique and incredible!!! I fell in love with then when I wad a kid and today on my late 50s I still am. Karen Carpenter was an angel voice from Heaven that nobody else so far has gotten again! I hope the new generations like you can admire and discover their talenyt and contribution to good music and history of music as welll. I had a huge crush on Karen Carpenter as a young lad. Angelic voice and she could play the drums like you wouldn't believe. That was really cool.

She had a voice like an angel. Many female vocalists have powerful voices, but not many are as smooth as hers. Her voice makes you feel like you're floating on clouds.

No vocal runs, no screaming, no whistle register.... Karen doesn't need any of that. That woman was born with the best voice of anyone who ever sang a note and there has never been one like her.. There also will never be. That she was an excellent drummer was just nothing short of a second miracle. She conveyed so much emotion in her voice that it feels like she got a leased line to our hearts through our ears, and poured pure emotion through it...

Everyone knows the “Carpenters’. Karen had a gifted voice. Her true life story is so sad.

They had tons of hits.. Her voice was like butter, on every song they did. She was also ranked #5 of all drummers in the world at one point, but the industry made her kind of give it up for commercial reasons as the band became more and more popular. In the video rainy days and Mondays, after the couple of pics, they go live to the studio, and you can see she's playing the drums. Crazy. Thank you. 😊

Karen was an angel. Tragic story. My heart really went out to Richard when she died. Brought worldwide attention to a relatively unknown and unrecognized problem that so many dealt with... and still do. Her voice can still make me cry... and I do not cry easily.

All those instruments you hear, but don't see in the video, is the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Karen's brother Richard, who you see singing backup and playing piano, was and is a musical genius. He composed, arranged and then directed the Orchestra and added this after Karen's death. Creating a masterpiece! Love the French Horn! Enjoyed your reaction very much. So glad you found Carpenters music. Hope you delve deeper into their wealth of wonderful, timeless music. In my humble opinion, Karen is the greatest female singer, and was a superb drummer. Sadly we lost her way too soon, only 33 when she passed. Tragic story.

Karen Carpenter and her brother Richard put out some of the best music of the 60s and 70s. She passed too young. She played drums and had to be talked into singing. There was an actual band playing behind them. She played drums and her brother played piano/organ.

I loved her the first time I heard her back in the mid 60's. It brings tears to my eyes, but maybe that is because she is gone. Her brother RIchard is the other half of the act, plays keyboards and arranges. You might like to hear a Russian band, Leonid and friends recorded it too, and they did a fantastic job.

Most of their music makes me feel very sad and takes me to depression but yes its also very beautiful and sometimes I cant help but listen.

I grew up in the day when we listened with our ears and not with our eyes. To me Karen Carpenter had such an angelic sweet voice and I fell in love with her and i still miss her even now to this very day.

Karen Carpenter has the most beautiful voice and style you'll ever hear. She isn't among us anymore and you should dive into her story to feel the songs more intensely. It will add an extra dimension to the experience. 'Just Yesterday' is a beautiful Carpenters song to do next.
