This song by the Carpenters is so exquisitely arranged and performed. The piano, the flute, the violins, even the percussion is outstandingly timed and measured. And OMG I can't imagine a more beautiful voice than Karen's emoting the lyrics. There are a lot of different covers of this Leon Russel tune, but after hearing this one I don't really care to hear anybody else's version any more!
❤❤❤❤❤всегда возвращаюсь в этот волшебный мир. Который создали Карен , И Ричард , он великолепен , нет лучше этого шедевра , , ..... Такое редко создается на Белом СВЕТЕ !!!❤❤❤
Mike, Yes, there was pain there, down deep and it only came out overtly in her singing. How sadly ironic that for all of the beautiful and romantic love ballads she graced the world with, that she never found anyone to truly love her.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Yup, that Karen Carpenter had such A BEAUTIFUL VOICE, SO FULL of SO MUCH TALENT, which is why it Still feels SO SAD that WE Lost her at such a young age, i WISH to GOD that she could have still been alive right now so she could see how much SHE'S SO ADORED BY ALL of us, her # 1 FANS. 😭 💔 #RIP to #KarenCarpenter = a BEAUTIFUL Young ANGEL gone TOO Soon.
@@andrewhanson5942 I totally agree with you Andrew, that guy she married was a leech and was after her money, but at the time her friend's were married with children, Karen was lonely and she jumped in with two feet, looking for her " happy ever after"....its ironic that Richard married and had 5 children, one girl has Karen as one of her names...she would have adored them...many of us go through life and not find a partner, its sad and much sadder as we get older too, it's a case of " what if"...she always came across to me as sad and lonely and it showed in her singing, especially ballads...if she had gotten the help she most definitely needed, she would still be with us today....Heaven's gain...was Earth's loss...R.I.P. Karen.❤
@@Irene-qe5hu Irene, Yes so sad. She was so young when celebrity happened to her and barely had the time to develop normal relationships with those around her. And of course once a celebrity she was deliberately sheltered by those profiting from her success. So even in her late 20's she was still quite naive, and her longing for a "normal" life lead her to rush into a bad relationship with a narcissist. I found it amazing that even after he confessed to having a vasectomy (before the marriage) that her mother nixed the idea of calling it all off because "all the invitations have been sent out already"! Can you imagine the pressure she was under? Yes, it came out in her singing and I think anybody listening seriously could hear that. Every time I hear one of her vocals it strikes me as bittersweet. The "sweet" was the loveliness that was Karen Ann. The "bitter" was obvious if you know the whole story of her life.

I love Karen's voice. Soft but rock. She used to sing so amazingly... I want to make a cover of this song even I'm not a singer... I just really like this song..❤
Creator, this was really pieced together ❤️ nice. Thank You! Best rendition of Masquerade, I've ever heard. Karen Carpenter taken away from us too soon. R.I.P.

Regarding the instrumentation, Karen's drumming was just as accomplished as her vocals. She's in fine form throughout the album. Richard's piano work is magnificent on the entire disc but it is especially brilliant here. On Masquerade, his sparkling piano and Bob Messenger's playful flute are as memorable as Karen's vocals. With these two men trading off on the break, it is another reminder of what great musicians the duo had working alongside them. Richard's skill as an arranger is often overlooked in light of his sister's contribution, but that's unfortunate. The man knows his stuff. The final vocal line by him punctuates the end of the song as the music trails off. As Karen and Richard were in their early to mid-twenties when they crafted this masterpiece, it becomes even more of an astounding work of art. Other producers and artists rightly took notice. Although George Benson made it a huge hit three years later, this Leon Russell composition has been recorded by over 140 artists. With more than 60 of these versions being released in the 21st century, it is now a modern American standard.

What?! 😱 This IS 10 X WAY BETTER Than Good. Karen Carpenter had THE MOST BEAUTIFUL Voice to Have ever been GRACED BY GOD, she had A LOT of TALENT IN HER BEAUTIFUL Voice, which is why It STILL HURTS to this day that we lost her at such a Young age. WHY GOD? 😭 💔 #RIP to #KarenCarpenter = a BEAUTIFUL Young Angel gone TOO SOON.
