Carpet Cleaner Not Spraying Water, or Not Picking Up. How to Fix. 

Another problem with carpet shampooers is if you have cat litter dust in your carpet...it will clog up your machine pretty quickly and you have to clean out the compartments.

you know what's crazy? the newer model - atleast the dual pro newer model I just got has this feature. I had the old one and they certainly made it longer. so well done. whether they saw this or not, they noticed it too and fixed that little quirk which I bet is the problem for many

After spending the morning trying to get my Bissell pro heat to work, I was ready to toss this one, even though I had only used it about 4 times previously. It seemed like I had both problems, water not being sucked up and the red spin dial not spinning when I pressed the trigger. I had already checked the belt, which was working, but I did another check around the belt as you suggested to see if there was any carpet fiber around the belt pulley and that was clear, with only a bit of dirt and hair around the casing. I also checked to see if the pump was working by pouring a bit of water down in the hole where the bladder connects, and when I turned the machine on, it sucked it right up. The only other thing I did was taking the clear cover off and cleaning it really well, all around where it seats. I put it back together and now it works perfectly! I don't know if I fixed anything, but it is working now! Thank you for putting together this video, I wouldn't have known how to check the other pulley or if there was suction. You did a great job in explaining how the shampooer works and what to look for.

Amazing 🤩!!! I bought my bissell cleaner 15 or 16 years ago and I very seldom use the darned thing lol until throughout the years my carpet is now getting super dirty especially in the traffic common area, including maintenance come in my apartment to patch up stuff and now the machine isn’t working period lol!! So I’m going to check out the belt mainly and won’t I don’t have to purchase a new cleaner!!! I’ll let you know afterwards and thanks 🙏

I'm guessing the water pump actually went out on this 1697-1. Same kind of pump. It pumps water out from the fresh tank as long as the cover is off and no vacuum on the combination tank. As soon as I attach the cover with this red machine running and spraying, it stops spraying. Everything else works good.

Yes ! This totally fixed my problem of water not releasing thus not sucking up! Thank you! I was concerned about the screw and that it could break the machine but I used a small screw and gently screwed down making sure not to get side ways.

The red ball is what turns your pump to move the water. Run a few cups of white vinegar thru the machine to remove any calcium build up you your not clogged up the next time you use your machine.

Water is coming out when trigger is pulled. Belt is not broken and moving. The stick up thingy is going into tank.Brush is moving But it is still not picking up. The water in tank normally bubbles when it's working properly but it's not bubbling. I have tried everything

I have a Hoover Spinscrub 50 and it's putting out water and sucking up dirty water but my problem is I noticed that I'm not adding solution every time I use it. Any idea what the problem might be? I only have one way for the solution and water to come out.

Hi in the UK here I have basically the same model mine was not working at all tried loads of tricks and fixes after watching many videos fixed to a point where one side of machine is spraying but it does not seem to be suckin water very well. I tried 4 different screws and it all came pouring out the sides. Then it only such it up for awhile, then it quit doing that. It is sitting outside. And I have a sobbing carpet. Hate carpets.
