the science behind the noise is pretty simple, yet understanding it not so much you have the vacuum of a (assuming) 2 inch hose there with the air flow equivalent to that from the blower the noise level does not necessarily mean more air flow or suction power the sound of the noise is what you would want to look for, but if your not into the science part you wouldn't understand what to listen for in that regard anyways the reason why that little SS is louder is because that 2 inch air flow is being restricted down in size with the same vacuum power behind it making it really loud but if you had the same exact wand but it was full 2 inch the reduced wand would not have as much extraction ability as its bigger version due to less air flow to lift with the bigger and more consistent your air flow is in diameter from blower port to wand head the better the extraction you will get if the wand head is more square on the inside then rounded, you will lose some power as well as have a louder wand glides with shorter fatter holes will usually be louder than longer slimmer ones a powerful sound from the wand is always good, a loud noise usually means nothing or that wand is clogged lol
@ 2:25 The reason that wand would be the hardest to push is that glide has almost no surface area. It will work ok on just some carpets, but poorly in general. I had a glide similar to that years ago that was for the old stainless steel Bentley and it was ridiculously hard to push. Why they even made is beyond my comprehension. They dead sure didn't test it carefully. The yellow "Banana" glides they used for them were very easy to push but I had a lot of problems with water recovery even using a truck mount with 12 to 14 inches of mercury. I had to remove all the holes in that glide and make it all slotted. Then it worked extremely well with my Boxxer 421. Right now I'm using the Ti Bentley with a Greenglides hole glide and I get pretty good recovery but nothing to write home about. I will NEVER buy another hole glide or one with combination holes and slots. I can't pick up literally anything, even a thread or a blade of grass with a hole glide if the vacuum cleaner did not get it.
Hi friend, thanks for posting this! In general, can you elaborate on the importance of that "whistle" relating to CFM I guess? I remember years ago I had one of the first Evo wands and even with my portable, what a huge difference it made in drying-times compared to a standard scrub-wand. But now I'm using the EDIC Fivestar (40lb self-contained unit) that makes a pretty decent spotter, etc., and has a good vacuum) but problem is, even though it has enough waterlift suction to really seal to a floor, it has no "whistle" at all--partly because its 12" opening is TWICE the width of a normal wand, with no holes or slots. So as a result, drying-times suck even with drying-passes ( I can get 4x the water back with a small hand-tool drying-pass.) What do you suggest? I'm already trying to fabricate some "narrowers" to stick inside the glide. cheers!
We have a evolution wand and I personally will only use it as a back up or in wide open areas after I’ve already gone around and done corners and up agains molding with a regular want cause it won’t clean within a inch of walls
well, today is your luck day. I created these to do exactly what you are looking for, they tweak the spray to hit right behind the glide/opening thus creating a better flushing action, quicker dry times and the ability to run a higher PSI without streaking or over wetting greenglides.com/product/extender-benders/ Text me a photo of the back of your wand head so I can see which version you have @ 775 552 5429
love the look of them and yea its like buying a flash car but yea i use a standard 2 jet s wand and might work a little harder but get great results happy customers make money and dont spend it all on expensive wands.. but hey im British :P
It doesn’t depend on the wand, it depends on the person using the wand. You should’ve used a scrubber on those carpets first then extracted them with any wand.
Mike do you happen to know if they make the SS 12 Inch in the 2 inch tube? I know they make the 14 inch w/ the 2 inch tube but it is 6 jets and I am a fan of the 4 jet set up on the 12 inch..
Hi Mike when buying a new wand do you need to consider the power of your pump for example I have a catpump 600 psi 5.7 lpm which wand and jet would be best for this pump Many Thanks
The pump isn't really a concern, jets can be changed if need be. What truckmount do you have and how long is your average hose run, and how old are you?
Morally, I cannot answer that question, knowing full well it would lead to a Green vs Brown Gargantua level explosion of mechanical violance, but if you go for it let me know how it works out
I've seen the price range from $800 to $1100 www.caltoolusa.com/ I dont see this particular wand on the website and they change their designs almost weekly so insist that you get the same exact features you see in my video, which are: The swivel they ripped off from Tom Conway, all prior swivles are horrible. All stainless/teflon hose plumbing Two pinch bolt trigger hanger and if I were you go with a raw aluminum head and no powder coating on the Ti tube as both are done poorly and will look like hell in no time.
