"Big" Billy Yeadon does it again! Bill has been a valuable resource for cleaners for decades, and it looks like he'll NEVER slow down!

As a chemist, I've been longing for a video like this...lots of neutralization reactions. One important factor you didn't touch on is how heat/steam helps activate reactions. Thanks for this!! Now that you're done, mix them all together 🤣 Just joking, especially if there's bleach or isopropanol on that table🤦

I have a carpet in a commercial (state) building that is driving me crazy 😑. The building was neglected by previous vendors for years and also firebombed several years ago. Biggest problem seems to be the sealer between the carpet or VCT tiles has failed. Every time it rains dirty water looking stains randomly appear. Both on the carpet and under the VCT finish, even though the roof doesn't leak. The first time I went over the entire carpet with my extractor I used plain water. The soap foam that came out along with some of the dirt seems to suggest previous cleanings never rinsed. Maybe the PH was left off balance for years as well?. I've extracted the carpet 3 times now (plain water, citrus based cleaner, plain water rinse), and also went over it with a high traffic pretreat followed by agitation with a 175 buffer and microfiber bonnet between extraction #2 and #3. Some places look new but others haven't changed much. I'm wondering if I should try a neutralizer on the entire carpet and then try to raise or lower the ph to see which targets the stains best. It's possible that several different types of stains coincide. Maybe a low ph cleaner will get some out while a high ph will target others? I'm at a loss for ideas about what to try next. It's actually a very good test carpet because any improvement is a surprise as nobody expects much improvement.

As I had water damage and was dried. The carpet was fantastic but stiff to the touch. It stayed clean for months. What was used to get my carpet this clean and ling? I have a medium pile shag! It felt like it was starched and springy.

+David Chambers Feel free to call our carpet care experts at 800-556-6366 for specific product recommendations. You might need to just rinse the carpet with a good acid rinse product, such as Matrix All Fiber Rinse. But it's best to discuss your situation with our experts first.

Jon, working on an audio video system, I removed old electrical tape that the adhesive had dissolved. A small piece of the tape got stuck to the bottom of my foot'e and I made little grey spots on the clients carpet. The carpet is brand new. What can you suggest to clean these light grey spots from the dissolved electrical tape adhesive. It comes right off my hands with dawn.

Hi Christian, If you used Dawn on the carpet, you will need to make sure you have thoroughly flushed/rinsed the adhesive and the Dawn from the carpet with a carpet extractor. If you do not have a carpet extractor, use a spray bottle of water to flush the area, then place 1/4" of paper towels on the spot and place a book on top for at least 12 hours to extract the moisture. If it still feels sticky from the adhesive, you will need to use a solvent (turpentine/paint thinner/acetone) or a household spotter, like K2R, to remove the adhesive. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SOLVENTS as they have low flash points as well as strong odors. Do not pour the solvent directly on the carpet as it will damage it-permanently. Apply the solvent to a clean white towel and then use the towel to blot the spots. Once the adhesive has been removed, thoroughly rinse the area. The steps described in this technical tip can also apply to your situation: www.jondon.com/how-to/technical-tips/spot-and-stain-removal/adhesive-gum-removal.html If you need further assistance, please call 800-556-6366 to speak with a Jon-Don representative.

I have used nothing on the carpet. They are talking about flying people from Boston to Maine to clean the carpet. It is about a half dozen light grey spots on a straw color, tightly wound, wool carpet. It is the adhesive from the electrical tape. I called your shop and they recommended Breakdown and then Matrix. I am asking the owner if they will give me a shot at cleaning it and I will purchase those products from you.

Since it is a wool carpet, we would recommend using Matrix Orange Power Gel or Pro's Choice ProSolv Gel and lots of flushing. www.jondon.com/matrix-orange-power-gel-2.html

This adhesive is right on top of the fibers and does not penetrate. What do I flush with? Matrix?

Flush with clean water to remove all adhesive and cleaning residues. Thoroughly extract the area. Use air movers or fans to speed drying.

Why does carpet like to be left on the acidic side? What difference will it make if its left alkaline? Like when using formula 90 in the rinse, it's an alkaline product.
@bcsjy1
@bcsjy1 4 года назад
Most carpet is dyed with acid dyes. An acid rinse will bring it back to its natural following an alkaline prespray. One other benefit is it makes it more receptive to an application of a fluorochemical. Using a alkaline detergent is not bad just a different process. The dilution of Formula 90 is so minimal with extraction that very little residue. Thanks for the question.

Matrix Orange Power Gel should do the trick. Be sure to flush with plenty of clean water to remove all adhesive and cleaning residues. Extract thoroughly and use an air mover or fan to speed drying.

I just want to know how to clean my dirty berber carpet.
@jondoninc
@jondoninc 6 лет назад
Hi Angela. Berber is a style, not a fiber type. Berber can be nylon, wool, or olefin, so the fiber type needs to be taken into consideration when choosing the right cleaning chemistry. If it is a wool Berber, be sure to use a wool-safe product. Because Berber-style carpet has a very tight pattern, streaks can occur when cleaning. These streaks may be caused by wicking or from the wand “bouncing” across the carpet while cleaning. Directions: 1. Clean the Berber with a PSI setting of 250 or less. Use single strokes, extracting only on the forward stroke. Apply slight pressure on the wand to prevent bouncing. 2. If you anticipate wicking problems, follow up the extraction with a white cotton bonnet. 3. Speed dry the carpet with air movers to try to prevent wicking. If you need more advice/assistance, call 800-556-6366 to speak with a Jon-Don representative.
