This feature has been a part of carpet mod since a very long time. Its just been moved to carpet extra since its technically not needed since ice is craftable. Not sure why it would be associated with one of the carpet-like clone mods
It's true that the basic ice -> packed ice feature has been part of carpet for a while, but as far as I know frosted -> normal, packed -> blue and also the adjustable quantity are only in QuickCarpet, not in carpet-extra
You know, I'm going to disagree. It feels a little too cheaty. Maybe if the anvil had to be dropped from a higher height and thus require anvil replenishment mechanism. It really doesn't seem to present enough of a challenge imo. May as well just let TNT drop ice and use the auto crafter. But still a mechanism to get blue ice would still be nice.
Technical minecrafters when they can farm something: Lets destroy the landscape. Technical minecrafters when they cant farm something: I would not want to destroy the landscape. And I agree.
I like mechanics like this that encourage you to make blocks interact with eachother. When you have to go through multiple steps you can create discrete machines that interface with eachother to create a final product. What you end up with at the end of the video is like something out of Infinifactory, it's beautiful to just watch it go.
From some brief research it seems that physical compression of ice can result in formation of different types of ice, or turning water to ice. So the idea is not entirely unrealistic, though of course the pressure of atmosphere isn't enough to hold the ice in so it can feel the full compression force of the anvil, but for a minecraft mod it's a decently realistic idea I really like this idea, of compression through anvil manipulation, its really powerful and simple and uses all the mechanics already in the game, it feels like it could be vanilla
This is so goofy and fun but also so niche and technical at the same time. It would fit so well in vanilla Minecraft! Like wow that is actually so fun.
You know, this can sorta be like a clock, when an ice block is made, it could be a “second”, a compact ice block is a minute and a blue ice block is an hour
@@mrfahrenheit677 what would happen if we push the anvil away before it falls on all the ice blocks? would the ice blocks the anvil just destroyed reappear outta nowhere? or will they just be gone forever?
I am a big fan of how you can't move an anvil with a piston normally but make it fall and some god damn bubbles can launch the bastard right to the top
I would be okay with it being added to the peaceful server because it adds a lot of different challenges in order to be optimized and doesn't make other types of ice farms necessarily obsolete. Also it's pretty funny
Even though this doesn't make much sense physically, I quite like this mechanic. The finished farm is really satisfying to watch. I'm entirely on board with this being added to the peaceful server because I'd love to see a scaled up version. Since you'd then have carpetmod I think it would also make sense to add in the ability for TNT explosions to drop blue ice so you could just use a blast chamber rather than be limited by pickaxe speed.
Dude you should totally add this to the peaceful series, it looks like a really cool concept and something really different. Also I love farms which have multiple stages.
@@trinity_null if the anvil is floating up, then the force (drag + pressure) of those air bubbles is measly compared to the force (weight) of the water displaced by the anvil that makes it float (aka buoyancy) If however the bubble columns in Minecraft are supposed to represent water moving up (or down), instead of only the bubbles moving up or down, In that case, I wonder if the water flowing up would be able to push the anvil upwards, or if the weight of the anvil is so high, water would just seep through the sides of the anvil Unfortunately I didn't learn enough physics to answer this :(
@@YounesLayachi I think you just restated my point? yes, an anvil floating by any means is very unlikely, what I'm saying is, if there's something exerting an upward force on the anvil (bubbles), that's a more likely case for it to be floating than if there was nothing exerting an upward force on it (regardless of whether it's buoyant or not, which of course it isn't)
@@karlsmink I was just appreciating the strange ideas ilmango has and this is one of them in my opinion and also pearl cannons are not discovered by ilmango. You can watch xcom6000's video on history of pearl cannons.
@@karlsmink yup I agree but that comment was only to make him happy (if he sees it 😅) .I love both xcomm and earthcomputer(they are genius) but in comparison ilmango has more reach and more resources to make this type of content fun and grow the community.
I think another possible feature for 1.17 would be if it falls onto four powdered snow it'd turn it to a full snow block or multiple snow into one ice.
I've experimented with automated ice farms in vanilla (Bedrock, but Java works identically for all but some of the redstone for powering pistons). I've got a mechanism that should be able to generate a decent quantity of ice, but the main limiting factor is the fact that ice generation is just really slow if you don't have a lot of blocks that can freeze, to the point that a simple 8x8 manual ice farm is almost always going to be more efficient unless you make a massive scale. One of these days I might actually make a video on this.
Hey, Ilmango, to make everything make sense you should consider to add an additional rule: those ice conversions shoul be possible only in cold conditions (cold biome or high altitude). I hope you'll listen to this.
Hey mango, will you be making a video on masa's mods? Tweakeroo alone has 100+ features and it would be really interesting if you made a detailed video on it.
Masa stated that he'll eventually make an official tutorial for it, right now, he still has ideas and features to implement in his mods, like huge features
Could we get a datapack version of this? also we could use more anvil smashing mechanics, i really enjoy that one datapack that allows anvils to crush clean stone into sand, cobble into gravel, a filled composter into dirt (composter does not get destroyed) and anvils shattering glass, theres more but i dont remember them sadly, but its a fun datapack. would love to see those features in vanilla.
This is amazing! If we could make blue ice fully automatically that would be sick. But we would need the ability to blow up blue ice by tnt or something cause afk farms are boring.
2:00 and now I understood, how much mechanics minecraft actually has. Most of the proffesstionsals, still have some information uncovered. Like technoblade didn't know about thorns, meanwhile he's a pvp'er. After few years, the will the game become so hard?
Very nice, but while we might all disagree with it, the crafting recipe is 9-1, so personally I would say the carpet anvil recipe should also be 9-1. I think I would of required the anvil fall more than 1 block as well, just to try and balance it even if iron is basically free (and dispensers placing blocks is already in carpet so it is not like it breaks the farm).
Technical minecraft is far more interesting than factorio. Factorio is basically game about logistics and a little bit of logic schemes. But there aren't physics and entity interaction. All factorio mechanics is totally predictable. There aren't any emergent features.
Ilmango really likes modded Minecraft, doesn't he? (He just doesn't want to admit. Also, like every player he has preferences on the kind of mods he likes.)
Nice, I had the same idea using anvils when they introduced the crafting recipe. For the same reason, because its just too boring. Wish there were more game mechanics to get or convert blocks.
@@augustaseptemberova5664 on the video lol, maybe they didn't liked the idea or maybe there's something missing,my point is if you liked something doesn't mean everyone will like it,don't understand me wrong ilmango is amazing but some people just have differnt opinions and tbh i didn't liked that mechanic aswell ofc there are some haters who just hate for no reason but the dislikes doesn't come only from them
