I wonder if people know PERL comes from 'Plastics, Engine, Rubber, Leather'. Just use the different dilution ratios. Great stuff.

Used to use VRP and it was decent but my PERL is my absolute go to. I also apply with a brush but I prefer to cut mine 1*1 on tires. I find that it's easier to apply, lasts just as long as full strength and as a bonus makes it more economical, because as you said it's not a cheap product. However when diluted 50/50 a bottle really goes a long way. Had solid durability for a water based product and since I've been using it regularly (little more than a year) I've never seen any browning.

I use Perl for a year now. I wash my car once a week, and i use Perl every time. It holds that finish for about 4-6 days, then its starts to disappear, but it hold protective properties. I diluted it 1:5 for my dashboard, door cards and leather seats. Its holds pretty well. 2-3 months on dash and door. I have 2 small kids, and they kick front seats all the time. With perl on them i just wipe it down with some distilled water. BTW in Serbia its about 28 usd for 1L of Perl. With my applications i used it 3/4 in one year. That's for Tires and interior.

I dilute Perl 1:1 for the tires. Knock it down after a few minutes of dwell time and it gives me a perfect satin finish. My findings are the same as yours. Been using for about a year now and the first time it rained after initially applying I was super impressed with the durability / longevity of the dressing. Perl is a gem!

For your views, here is how I apply a tire dressing. As you mentioned, preparation is key, if your tire is not clean, dressing will not last. Step 1 - Clean tire with mineral spirits (as you mentioned) Step 2 - clean tire, wheel & wheel well with Eagle One Black Pasti Coat ( also used to chemical decon. a car, very reasonable price), step 3 clean tire with Meguiars non acid wheel cleaner. Step 4 Clean tire & wheels with Super Clean, diluted 1:4 or 1:1. If you still get browning, repeat step 4. Step 5 Apply tire dressing (PERL), 1 or two coats, waiting 30 minutes between coats. The following steps, I performed if the tire has never been deep cleaned before. If your tire has been deep cleaned, go to step 4. Super Clean is very reasonably priced & available at Walmart. PERL will last for several weeks, if tire is properly prepared. Thanks Auto Fanatic for your videos...

Thx for this video ! Using a heat gun after the degreaser, then apply the dressing, let it dry a few minutes on the tire and use again the heat gun to scell Will increase the durability of the silicon based dressing.

I really like CarPro Perl myself. It lasts a lot better than anything else I've tried and there's zero sling or anything like that. As others mentioned, prep is key. I've found that your mineral spirits suggestion has helped in that aspect, and as a result the product lasts a lot better. i get about 3 weeks out of it.

Endurance will sling, plus its silicone based product, harder to clean and accumulates brake dust easily. But the shine is outstanding tho. I still prefer PERL.

I have had the best luck with Pearl diluted 1:1 as a tire dressing. I dress the tires twice doing all four in rotation and starting over. No wipe down but I don't overload the applicator. If it doesn't rain the finish can last two weeks.

I just purchased Perl to test and see what all the hype is about. I have been using Adams VRT for the last 2 yrs. and it’s great. I use it on my Raptor and I drive it everyday no matter what the weather condition is. I have noticed in harsh weather condition it would last about a month, but in normal conditions it lasts close to 2 months. The finish is Matt finish for the first coat and gets glossier with multiple coats. Matt finish for me!

I highly recommend Adams VPR. I found that it gives it a dark natural/uniform finish that lasts about 2 weeks. It nothing like the CG Vrp or Perl that washes out. The Adams doesn't shine that much but after 2 weeks the tires are still dark natural looking which is what I like.

I think I may have tried most tire dressings over the years, and most recently have been using Car Pro Darkside. It's good, but the finish (to my eyes) is not as nice as PERL. Although, I acknowledge that everything is subjective. The cost effectiveness, finish and versatility of Perl is outstanding. Great video by the way.

Nice prep as always, very professional. As far as durability, I don't think it's going to last any longer than the other ones. Perl is better on vinyl and interior than on tires in my opinion. VRP is no.1 for me, I don't mind reapplying it every week or every other week. If it is a rainy period, it doesn't make sense applying it anyway until the weather settles down. P.S. I use Work Stuff brushes as well, was surprised to see u use them 😂 They're great.

I use it mixed 1:1 with distilled water on my Alfa Giulia, never use it neat. Great to spray on the grilles and wipe in with a cloth. Very good for a water-based product. I think it looks better at 1:1 (or 1:2) on tyres too - more satin, and 1:3 on plastic areas like scuttle panel, mirror brackets, plastic engine covers. Works out economically then too. Great stuff.

I always used Chemical Guys VRP, until I found 303 high shine tyre dressing, it produces that showroom gloss that I like, (for those who like a satin/matte finish, 303 tyre balm would be an alternative), I find that it lasts even after driving through rain multiple times, it is recommended to spray it directly onto the tyre, although I prefer to apply it with an applicator, the end result is the same I find.

Great video as usual. I kept seeing those work stuff brushes on instagram and have wanted to get them for a while now i love how big they are. On the tire dressing Perl is an incredible product but i have to say i love Adams Tire Armor. Its holding up now for 2 months and still shining. i simply spray their tire and rubber cleaner on and let it dwell and rinse off and its back to shiny. I will say tho Optimum has a pretty killer product out now similar to Adams but supposedly last longer. Ill stick with the Tire Armor and plan on doing another coat in another month or so just to keep it fresh.

A 5 gallon Bottle of Silicone Based Tyre dressing is $55cad from the local distributors. Rain doesn't take it off and because its silicone it wont damage rubber and plastic which is why it's safe to use on interior trims. If you use it on trims, I recommend wiping it after with microfiber or it's going to look and feel oily. Some people are into that but I like to be able to touch my trim and not get my hands greasy. Cant make money off that product, it's too expensive for the same results.
@autofanaticcars

silicone attracts dust and dirt, slings and leaves brown spots on white and silver painted lower panels. we also can not use silicone in a body shop.

I've been using Perl for a number of months on two vehicles. I like the amount of sheen it gives to the tires and it's easy to apply, but I've noticed that as soon as I drive the car in the rain the product is no longer visible. I'm going to go back to one of the non-water-based tire dressings that I used in the past as they stayed on the tire for a much longer period of time.

The next wash after applying Perl (usually 3 days or so) I just go over the tires with a dedicated wash pad using the same shampoo used on the paint and it really gives a great matte finish.

Got a ? I purchased 007 and love this stuff my ? Is how long does it last approximately because I’m just as bad as you my car does not stay dirty for more than a day I use your program power lock with collonite and when I wash it I use 007 I’m just curious because I know that I won’t let it get dirty to test the durability.

I use it 1:1 on tires and 1:3 on engine bay. don't use it on the rubbers of your car since you won't get it of very well. use for your rubbers wolf's nano coating
@sandmangti7040
@sandmangti7040 3 года назад
Perl also washes off easy. 303 tire shine better. Junk = oil and wax designed into tire for sidewall protection. You are stripping the tires built in protection.

@@cbruno12180 Yep, but I feel all other VRP's are very watered down compared to PERL. I'm pretty positive where I live, heat and water based dressings makes the wheels feel dull after 2 days of driving.

i have it does not repel dirt so much and seems to break down from the heat. for engine bay plastics and trim i have been using our Auto Fanatic 007 Gloss Enhancer Ceramic Detailer it works better and much easier to apply to rubber and trim to give it a nice finish.

So mineral spirits only before the first application?
@RogerRamjetLips
@RogerRamjetLips 3 года назад
This was bad advice, after applying mineral spirits to my tyres to "properly" clean them, where the spirits touched the wheels/rims it discolored them! Giving them a "milky" finish. Not sure how to fix this. Not sure if it ate off the polish off the wheels, or the clearcoat (do wheels even have clearcoat?) or the Opticoat ceramic coating on the wheels, but whatever it was it ruined them! Really annoyed.
@autofanaticcars
@autofanaticcars 3 года назад
sounds like you may not have used the right product there are many versions of mineral spirits FYI depending on where you buy it what I show on the channel is the Odorless brand Home Depot and Lowes sells. If the finish on your wheels got ruined that for sure means the finish or coating may have been compromised somehow but i never ever had an issue with the finish on any OEM or Aftermarket wheel on the edge when I clean tires on my cars and all our customers cars for 30 years. I even have gotten this on properly applied ceramic coatings for wheels and never an issue if the coating was applied properly. Cheap coatings and inferior paints and wheel finishes may be an issue for some but not something I ever experienced in the service business of what we do. You may want to try a mild polish on your wheels and try a different coating.

Don't use that much product bro, diluted 1 to 0.5 you get almost the same finish but use a lot less product and go's on pretty easy. I do this dilution ratio in a small spraybottle on a, cut to pieces, 59 cents carwash sponge. 10mins - 4 tyres
