Homeland was never a show that did happily ever after, but they gave us this gift of a character in Peter Quinn that we couldn’t help but love and want the best for: Loyal, witty, strong, self-sacrificing, surprisingly sweet, lonely, and broken-hearted. (Also yes, devastatingly handsome and such an efficient and clever operative that you just had to root for him.) He’s self-loathing and tragic. He gets things wrong sometimes. But when he’s noble and vulnerable he’s magnificent. He was doomed to suffer and so were we because we loved him. Played with such heart by Rupert Friend. Should’ve gotten that Emmy.
Never watched another Homeland episode after Quinn died. Killing Brody was one thing, but killing Quinn was unforgivable! Loved these two... always wished Carrie would’ve been a better person for Quinn.
I still can't get over Quinn being gone. I feel so sad for him. He suffered so much for Carrie until the end of his life. I wish he and Carrie ended up together.. So sad. :-(
Carrie doesn’t deserve Quinn. He’s too gracious for her. His love is too big for her, but Carrie never appreciate him. I’m so sad for Quinn. He’s the best. Please bring Quinn back.
Carrie appreciated him a lot, probably she even loved him, in the end of S4 she would have started a relationship with him if he wouldn't have left just because she was hesitant because of her past experiences and her mental illness.
Carrie nunca mereceu Peter Quinn. Ela somente foi ao hospital atras dele porque o Jonas terminou com ela, senao nem voltaria la para ve-lo. Ridiculo a historia que reservaram ao Quinn.
I mourned his loss twice...season 5 AND season 6. Just completely emotionally invested in his character. I was just pissed that when he died there was no dedication to him...not in a personal fashion or from the armed forces....and he did save the president's life after all. Idk. He was just considered a "memory" and for the emotional torment they put me through, it was so much thus I felt there was no closure for this character.
I really wish she could have fallen in love with him. Season 6 is so sad, he did so much and suffered so much to protect her and sure, she lets him live in her basement but seems so cold and distant towards him.
Carrie definitely had feelings for Quinn. If you recall in the last episode of season 4, after she reunited with her mom and came to terms with the fact her mom left the family because of her own failings and not the fact her dad was bi-polar, she tried to call Quinn back but at that time Quinn had already left for Syria, thinking Carrie's non-committal answer earlier was a rejection.
@@Saldio Relationships are complicated and they are two very complicated people to begin with... When he's really down, living in her basement, at one point she tries to give him a friendly hug and he immediately goes for a kiss and more.. I think that was the point where any warm feelings she might have for him really turned to nothing more than a sense of duty because of what he'd done for her. What I mean is, sure she had feelings at some point, but we never got to see them in a relationship and that's what I would have liked to happen. Story just didn't turn out that way.
@@Saldio if i remember right he asked her to think about it and then just leaves! She was going to say yes after her talk with her mom bc she was insecure and believed she could never have a functional relationship bc of her illness
The pain and trama when Quinn died to protect Carrie linger with me to this day, I cried my eyes out over that episode. My heart aches so hard each time I rewatch it,he is my favorite character of all time, such a dedicated soldier and giver, writing this hurts me too,I'm crying again
Carrie´s restrain reaction when Quinn died. when Brody died, Carrie climbed the fence, screamed his name, cried. She expressed herself. It's a super painful scene, heartbreaking and emotional. Even today, when I see that scene, I cry again. It is very sad. And it's sad because they were killing him and it was enormously sad because she was witnessing it and i was nothing she could do. NOW... Carrie was with Quinn when he died and she was shocked. I understand the impact. And it also strikes us as viewers (when I see the scene I cry with a sense of desperation, even now) but I don´t think it was the best choice on the part of Gansa. Neither narrative nor artistically. Because, in a way, it leaves the viewers out, and that is always a complicated thing, either when you’re telling a story but also, when you’re watching it. Beside the obvious storytelling similarities (Carrie is present for both deaths, and it’s the death of someone she’s in love with) there are also technical similarities. Both “The Star” and “America First” were directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and photographed by David Klein. However, the lead-up to the scenes is obviously different. Unlike with Quinn, both the audience and Carrie understand that Brody will die (even Brody knows this). Once Javadi says he’s been sentenced to death by hanging, we know what’s going to happen. The question then becomes just how devastating it will be. One of the most heart-wrenching shots of “The Star” is of Carrie walking up to the square when she first sights the crane and it dawns on her: this is how it will be. You have something similar in “America First,” not when she discovers Quinn’s dead, but before, when he tells her to get in the car. There is an understanding there, perhaps not that he’d die but that something important was about to happen. Both men also have a moment of resolve, too, right before the end. While Brody’s likely takes place minutes, if not hours before, Quinn’s takes place just seconds before. As he stares straight into the camera-and into a line of soldiers with weapons aimed squarely at him-he makes his decision. The music here builds up into a crescendo, and then for a moment it’s eerily quiet. The most obvious difference between the two scenes in this context is Carrie’s place in them. When Brody dies, she is literally forcing herself to watch-to look into his eyes, so he’s not alone. The camera shoots her straight on. When Quinn dies, he’s instructed her to “stay down,” to avert her eyes. As such the camera shoots Carrie from above or below, behind objects and around corners. Our view of her is as obscured as her view is of Quinn. And when she finds him slouched in the front seat, she can’t look, physically turning her head away. Carrie calls out Brody’s name so that in his final moments alive he can find her face in the crowd. So that he’s staring at her instead of a bloodthirsty crowd. He finds her, and they share a moment of recognition-of the end of whatever they shared between them: love, lust, obsession, any or none of above. It’s the exact moment Carrie is knocked from the fence that Brody takes his last breaths. When she pulls herself to her feet, he’s gone. Inside the car with Keane and Quinn, after the rush of commotion and bullet fire, it’s again silent. Just like Brody, he was there one second and gone the next. In both scenes there is something inaccessible between the audience and Carrie and between Carrie and either Brody or Quinn. In “The Star” we glimpse her from behind a chain-link fence. It’s what separates her from Brody and from us in the audience. In “America First” there is no real physical partition-you could argue it’s the boundary between front seat and back seat in the car-but the oft-discussed lack of touch between Carrie and Quinn after she sees him dead suggests this. Except for a rushed clutching of his arm in the very beginning, they stay curiously separate. In Tehran, once it was over, Carrie turned around and walked herself out, weaving through the screaming crowds. In New York, she retreats into the back seat, goes still and then silent as a crowd of pedestrians flocks to the carnage.
Carrie’s “I need your help” to Quinn must have translated to “I love you” bec he always always came to her .... wherever she was . That was how much he always loved her. The thing is she loved him too💔
When you've invested so much to their love story that was on the making since the day they've met- they could've had a better ending together; it's just so tragically sad. I ever wished Quinn would end up Carrie's calm and tranquility every time things get stormy. Still mourning. 😢😰
Quinn’s character was a major force in this show. I think the time will come when the writers realise writing him off was a huge mistake. Their ratings will suffer without Peter Quinn.
Still pissed about Quinn's unemotional death. Confusion is all I felt. Lost interest after that. Just want to know, 😲WHYYY!!! Why did the writers put him through allllllllllllll the bullshittttt...just to kill him off? Why???!!! 😢Carrie and Quinn love story would have made the show worth my time but not anymore. 😒😣 Quinn deserved far better than death. He's a terrific actor and it's a shame.🤔 BUT, I will watch, "only" if he comes BK or be a ghost still in love with Carrie, and she better show him some soft side to Carrie...bcoz that's all he ever wanted. Her love. 💑
I sobbed watching what happened to him. She def didn't deserve his love but they were both very similar and cold towards others so were drawn together. Rupert Friend ws fucking amazing in this. I still hvnt brought myself to watch season 8 because Quinn was the backbone and heart of homeland for me.
I just finished 6.12 and I’m not sure if I have the appetite to watch the final two seasons. The show was better with Carrie and Quinn together. I don’t think she can carry it alone without Quinn. They fit like puzzle pieces, supporting each other without having to use words. I don’t think the writers have justice to his character. We only really had 3 good seasons with him. The writers had such a gift with Peter Quinn and they squandered it.
I feel as though thoughout the series Quinn simply projected his own love onto Carrie -- and then believed he saw Carrie loving him back. Easy mistake to make but so tragic.
Quinn: Specialist of heavy weapons and heavy women... Showtime needs to write and deliver Quinn Prequel Missions. Explore the character's background, further reveal Dar Adal's off the book hitmen. The house where Quinn had flashbacks to, in New York with the diner nearby. SHOWTIME - if you want to excite the fans with a jolt, NEW QUINN MATERIAL. I have no idea what the world of black ops is actually like, but quinn strikes me as a he'll of a lot more realistic than james bond, etc. Quinn has a lot of the same skills, but he reacts to all the killing he's asked to do like a human being - he's traumatized by it, and it slowly deadens him. Also, I liked that he couldn't just withstand any physical injury. Claire Danes and mandy patinkin NOT for rupert friend so he's gone after exploiting his phenomenal acting talent. Quinn could have definitely recovered from foot drop and aphasia with therapy and been directing black ops so all a spin saying he couldn't. Writers did not honor soldiers affected with ptsd or war injuries rather made them look expendable. Seson 2 episode 4 throughout season 6 let the attraction between quinn and carrie solidify right up until they murdered quinn!!!!
Such Inspired performances. Brilliant actors. Engrossing, smart writing.. Gosh, I wish there had been 96 more episodes. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this journey. Bravo. blue 💙.
I’ve just watched the episode in which Quinn dies . The series is over for me. Won’t be watching anymore, Quinn’s death has totally ruined it for me. Think we were all waiting for Carrie & Quinn to get together 🤷♀️
Hé loved her and she loved him...She really did, but not way hé did. Their love for each other has never been able to flourish. he thought this is too good to be true, she will never be mine and she had the wrong impression about the combination of not to be able to love just because of her illness. strangely enough she had no doubt her real love was Brodie...
Carrie didn't doubt her feelings for Quinn, she doubted the viability of their relationship. She wanted to raise her daughter and needed to be sure that their relationship would last. That it wouldn't be another tumultuous affair like it was with Brody.
In season 6 they destroyed such a great character as Quinn, they made him behave in that way, i was so in pain for him and in the end they made him die. I was hoping until the last moment that he will recover. I will not watch season 7 and 8
I watched the show last night at least partly! Homeland Episode 7! Between the crazy president and the crazy broadcaster I was bored and turned it off!!!
La bella historia de amor de Carrie y Quinn, ellos deberían haber llegado hasta el final!!!Desde la primer temporada cuando le ordenaron matar a Carrie y el no lo pudo hacer!!
poxa queria tanto q eles ficassem juntos, assiste pra ver eles, e ele morre, q triste. Até o principal q eu amava morreu e sofrendo. Que serie maravilhosa porém triste.
Very sad to seeing this i love this movies best one just really disappointed me Peter Queen is dead i wish they will be happy endings Carrie and queen will love eachother and get marriage very poor queen in this movies 😢 i love queen 💜 Queen love Carrie from the start bring him back pls😭😭😭
she was always focusing on task ahead, that's why she got no time for romance but only bunch of strings. the people she has romantic relationship with ARE the mission itself (brody & Russian guy).
