CARRIKERS' TALES of CHRISTMAS PAST 

Thank you for what you do for us. I love your videos. They fill my heart. You see my husband, my sweet man, has dysphagia. He has a issue with his esophagus which causes him to choke and aspirate when he eats and drink. He was 200 pounds, now he weighs 138 pounds. It has taken 5 months for the Dr's to figure out what was wrong. He is to have a PEG put in so he is able to eat and drink. It will save his life. But, I wonder what will happen when the tube goes away? He is so weak. Would you all pray for this wonderful man who I love so much? Will you pray for all these medical bills to go away? Would you pray for my shoulder to heal so I can, once again drive? I am depending on the.neighbors for rides. We have no family here. He is 78 and I am 73. I t hank you for the bottom of my heart. I just Love when you have Uncle Floyd on because so many people young and old have no clue how it was back then. I was born 😮when my parents were both 45 and then my youngest brother. They had 4 boys and 4 girls and they married in 1945 right after the war II was over and they both lived through the depression. I tell my children of my childhood and that of my parents. When my oldest brother graduated mom was pregnant with me and then my next brother graduated my mom was pregnant with my brother so I personally grew up with an outside outhouse and we had a lot of sponge baths our bathtub was in the basement and we had to go outside and opened the basement with a outside cellar door. We ate good and my parents had a 3/4 of an acre of a 14:42 food garden and a very large strawberry patch as well as a flower garden. My mother from the beginning of August and they only had to buy peaches for fresh and canned. She didn’t drive and during the week my dad lived in an apartment in a bordering state a 4 hour drive one way and as my brothers did after graduation. We saw them on weekends. ( sometimes I really think it saved their marriage and they were married just over 50 years +1 and they both died 63 from their birthdate’s. Now where I’m going is my Uncle who was only a year older just died this year and he was 103 and he was in his right mind but he wore 2 hearing aids. My Uncle would tell us stories about his childhood with mom and sometimes we were serious, sometimes laughing, sometimes singing, but mostly just loving and he was very good to us me and my husband and family. When my oldest son was studying WWII my Uncle went to school and talked about everything about the war. My parents passed at 75 years of age so if they’d have lived until this year they would have been 102 this year and I miss those stories but I do have my memories. Even though I tell them of how it was in those days I honestly don’t think they would survive if we had to go back in time. I would and I was born in 64. Sometimes life has a way of circling around. I’m sorry I wrote a whole book but on your iPhone everything is small. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family from me and my family! I don’t know why I’m always thinking about Mark missing Mark I listened to him when he couldn’t hardly talk but he would go to the garage and just talk and I prayed for him and what he was going through and having such young children. Have a Blessed Holiday Season that’s what Mark would say! You all are in my prayers and for the children!

Holy cow! 104 years old and his mind is still intact. We should all be so lucky.

Oh my goodness!!! Silent Night!!! I have heard this beautiful song from so many different sources today!! Thank you so much!!!! You are affirming what God led me to write today!!!! Merry Christmas Dr. Lee and family!! I’m sharing it below: One of my favorite Christmas songs is Silent Night. I was enjoying the worship music and really enjoyed listening to Silent Night at one of the services I watched. I’ve read several FB posts where so many are heartbroken because of the situation this Christmas season and how some are alone, missing loved ones, family situations where children and parents are separated for one reason or another. A thought occurred to me as Silent Night and Psalm 46:10 kept filling my mind. Silence is good. Our hearing seems to magnify the silence waiting, anticipating, and rejoicing when we hear something. Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child Holy Infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace Silent night, holy night Shepherds quake at the sight Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia Christ the Savior is born Christ the Savior is born Silent night, holy night Son of God, love's pure light Radiant beams from Thy holy face With the dawn of redeeming grace Jesus Lord, at Thy birth Jesus Lord, at Thy birth Psalms 46:10 10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Have we forgotten that God speaks to us in a whisper? If we are too busy, we can miss His voice. 1 Kings 19 tells of when Elijah was hiding in the silence of a cave, feeling sorry for himself, when the LORD speaks to him… in a whisper. The Lord Appears to Elijah And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. You LEAN IN, sometimes TOUCHING the person you are whispering too!!! When God speaks to you in a whisper, He is RIGHT BESIDE YOU!!!! There is no reason for Him to speak in a loud voice or even shout to get your attention, because He is NEXT to you!! So, for those who are alone for the Christmas holiday, celebrate the birth of our Savior, have gratitude for that very first Christmas and the life our Lord walked on this earth and how He died for each one of us!!! Choose JOY! Choose to listen to silence and wait for the Lord to speak to you. God bless you all. You are loved. Merry Christmas! Happy birthday Jesus!! Also enjoy Matt's new format. I certainly miss seeing Mark, his blessed memory. We lost him entirely TOO soon. Loved your third gift -- your lovely musical offering. I am the Organist and Choirmaster for an Anglican Church in Oklahoma City. While I lived in San Antonio (1991-95), I attended the church of Our Lady of the Atonement. That was a Roman Church; the church I attend in Oklahoma City is a Protestant parish that split off from the Episcopal Church when they started ordaining women and "modernizing" the liturgy. Lovely story. It is great to see Uncle Floyd. The song was lovely and made me tear up. My mother’s favorite holiday was Christmas and her favorite Christmas carol was “Silent Night”. But, she celebrates in Heaven now and as much as I miss her, and this time of year is a little bittersweet, I would not wish her back here in this cruel world. Merry Christmas to everyone.
