I finally get him from a business perspective. It is quite wholesome and his jokes can appeal to many demographic of Americans. Not crafty wordplay or anything, just simple, clean jokes.
Agreed. Really don’t understand why he got so much hatred. You may enjoy his humor or you may think he is not funny. But he is pretty inoffensive and the hostility he has faced for years has always been baffling to me.
@@wessley4606 maybe you’ll get it when you’re older. It’s not so much gut wrenching laughs but just harmless witty jokes. When I was younger I thought he was stupid but I can appreciate home more now that the years have passed.
@@jimmymiata7855 I don't think this humour developes with age 😂 This humour is the culmination of idiocracy and its extreeeemly American. It's just lost on more mature audiences, so "growing up" isn't going to make a difference. I like plenty of silly comedies and physical comedians (Lee Evans, Andy coughman) As Ive already said, I like the guy as person, but can't pretend that this isn't the dumbest stand up I've ever seen.
I never really understood the hate for carrot top, his comedy is so simple yet so funny. The only people who hate him are people that feel the need to prove they are smarter or better than someone else. People who like carrot top just enjoy life, while the haters take it too serious.
He was always relevant to what was going on at the time... it’s fun to watch these and be like “ah Monica Seles and Post Office killing jokes, and he mentioned a roll of film....must’ve been about 1993”
See, that right there is literally why so many people look down on prop comedy. Saying "Wow, he's so creative," is what you say when the humor aspect is viewed as secondary. It's like going to an art gallery, looking at a painting, and saying "Hmm... Interesting." All you're doing is acknowledging that it exists and that it has a platform. You're not really appreciating it on an artistic level.
It's actually good when he slows down just a little bit and adds a joke or two in between. Otherwise it feels like he is just rushing through the props.
For all the young people watching the mirror on the tennis racket joke and not getting it. It refers to when a fan of one player jumped on the court and stabbed the players opponent in the back so the fans player would win. Hence the mirror so no one can sneak up and stab her in the back...
He is the comedy version of Nickelback. Openly hated but secretly loved. Millions must have been buying Nickelback records to keep them high the charts, and this guy still fills venues today. Yet nobody will admit to liking them. People are weird.
It was tradition for the guest to relinquish his chair and make room for the following act to be seated next to the host, but Walter Cronkite wouldn't budge when he stood up to shake his hand because he didn't want to give up his spot. That's a power play if I ever saw one.
Idk why people are hating about the videos they clearly clicked on on purpose. If you don't like carrot top just click on that other comedian or whatever video and keep your ass from looking like a hateful ass person.
Poor Carrot Top: *Sets props nearly to the side of the trunk* Successful Carrot Top: *Makes a mess on stage by putting props down wherever he wants* Rich Carrot Top: *Throws props around willy nilly, including into the audience*
the only time I've ever seen the next guest sit further away from the host then the previous one. That was uncomfortable... As if Cronkite is God or something.
Looking back at this now, It's very easy to see why this comedy brand was so successful in the 90's and why people these days sort of scratch their heads at this. If he started in the past 5 years, I'd be shocked if he could have been as successful.
@@dspsblyuth - It's dad humor centered around a "spectacle" that's not really a spectacle. Think about variety acts. Those were fairly big in the 90's. That's kinda what prop comedy is. Variety acts ALL get sh@#canned on the X Factor, and people have been conditioned to that. These days people just expect more of a PERFORMANCE from a live show, more of a DISCIPLINE. Guy who swallows ping pong balls: that's a RU-vid video. personalities based around gimmicks, those are RU-vidrs, Tiktokers etc. Just the thought of getting famous by doing a gimmick as a STAGE act these days, is insane.
