Sometimes you dont realize it's a weight because it's always there, whether deep down in your heart, or right there on your sleeve. I'm carrying my husband Michael, November 22, 2014, my brother in law Julio, December 22, 2014, my mother in law (she was my Naomi) October, 2018 and my dad, last October. I have a little more shoulder space, and will help carry your load too Bart. You guys don't realize how much you have helped me carry mine through your music these past few years. Grateful. ♥

As one of your truest friends and Sisters in Christ I too along with my family will help you carry your beloved cousin LT. Todd Wesley Krodle! Ps. My Daddy was a volunteer firefighter and passed away of complications of a heart attack in the same year April 2011 (he was a father of 8 children) My husband and I named our 3yr old son after my Dad & your band, we wanted to honor Christ but also the work that you & your band does for the Gospel, and for Our Lord Jesus Christ & getting His message across the world! You move our hearts & to add to your Much Loved Legacy! Our son's name is Silas Mercy-Deller Gordon I pray he'll be able to meet you some day. May God continue to bless you all and may the Lord continue to also keep you and bless everything you put your minds to! Love the Gordon family! Pss. Your song I can Only Imagine SAVED MY LIFE! (Long story I'm sure if we never meet this side of heaven we'll chat it up when we do meet with each other in our Loving Father house)

I'm carrying my mother, father, uncle and husband, and all of the others who have bravely served at home and abroad to keep us safe and free! God bless those still serving in these roles! God bless and thank you to all of you amazing and dedicated front line workers who have served so selflessly throughout this pandemic! May God's grace and mercy spread across this globe much further and faster than this virus and may we all be instruments of that spread. And thank you Bart and the rest of MercyMe for serving our Saviour so faithfully and helping your brothers and sisters to do the same! Much love from Down Under! 💝💖🤗

I, and many of my friends, are carrying the load for firefighter Bryan Weeks of Potosi Fire Protection District, in Potosi, MO. In 1992 I was a volunteer firefighter, career EMT, and paramedic student. I worked for Washington County Ambulance District in Potosi. My partner and I were responding to a motor vehicle crash, and Bryan was a few miles behind us, responding in a pumper/tanker. His truck rolled, and he was killed in the line of duty. Bryan and I were both 22 at the time. He was a great guy, with a big smile. He'll always be missed. I'm also carrying the load for my good friend, and brother from another mother, Chris Gibbons, Asst. Chief (retired) Bismarck Fire/Rescue, Bismarck, MO. Chris and I began working together as junior firefighters in Bismarck, until we were old enough to join the regular department. He once dove into a lake to pull a victim out of the pickup he had rolled into the lake. When he came out of the water, victim in tow, as he broke the surface he felt his skin burning. His patient had a working meth lab in the back of his truck. It's hard to know what chemicals Chris was exposed to. Later he took a full time job as a haz-mat technician for a few years. Several years ago he was diagnosed with cancer. It was insulinoma. The surgery left him disabled with severe pain. They had to severe a lot of nerves to get to his cancer. While it can't be proven that he has a line of duty disability, that is exactly what happened. At least he survived the cancer. Chris is probably the most selfless person I've known in my 20+ years in the fire service and EMS. Which says a lot about his character. He's truly one of the best people walking God's Earth. I suppose I'm carrying a load of my own, as well. I finished paramedic school and continued my EMS career. On December 2, 1999 I was working for Stoddard County Ambulance District, out of the Advance, MO station. My partner and I were on our way to pick up a routine transfer. An elderly woman, who was driving home after seeing her doctor because she had been passing out frequently, passed out at the wheel of her big o' Chevy Caprice land yacht and crossed the center line. She nearly hit us head on. My partner swerved onto the shoulder, then into the ditch trying to avoid a collision. She hit our rear tire and overturned our ambulance. I always tell people that the ground looks different going by beside you, inches from your face, at 60 mph. My partner climbed out, but I was having severe back pain, so I had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. The doctors said I was fine, but within 2 years, I had to retire on a disability pension. A couple of years after that I had to use a cane to walk. Through all of this, I surrendered to the call to preach. I had been avoiding God's call for quite a while. I began doing pulpit supply for local pastors, and returned to college, while working at an adolescent drug rehab. I had to give all of those things up as well within a few years. I was also a pretty good drummer, but I haven't been able to play much for years, now. I had nerve damage that left my legs weak, and I suffered from constant severe pain. I was frequently confined to bed for years. After 20 years of getting progressively worse and seeing more than a dozen specialists, I finally found a spine surgeon who could diagnose me and repair my spine. In layman's terms, I had a vertebrae that was fractured and displaced. I had to lose 28 lbs to have the surgery. I lost 40 lbs in 3 months, while being unable to exercise. I had spine surgery in October. I'm still recovering, but my pain is lessened and I haven't used my cane in 2 or 3 months. I'm hoping to be able to work full time again, though I obviously can't be a paramedic. A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, which can also be crippling. I've learned to keep mine mostly under control with diet and medication. The last couple of years have been an emotional rollercoaster. At one point I came across your song Even If. That song has meant so much to me. I can't tell you guys how much your song helped me through a very difficult time. I have hope for the first time in years. I have 3 daughters who are 11, 15, and 19, and a son who is 17. I missed so many of their activities. Doctors told me I would be in a wheelchair eventually. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to walk my girls down the aisle at their weddings. Now I know I will. I have to walk every day for my recovery. The first few weeks, it was horrifically painful. I walked around my block with a big smile on my face, though. I was just so happy that I could walk every day. God is so good. I apologize for the long comment. Believe it or not, though, that was the short version.

@@waltking9141, I'm fully aware of the purpose for which Memorial Day was created. Although it was originally created by the Grand Army of the Republic in 1868, as Decoration Day, to specifically honor the fallen soldiers of the Civil War. It wasn't officially expanded to honor the fallen of every war until 1971. Perhaps you should educate yourself on the purpose of the "Carry the Load" campaign, which is the subject of this video and comment thread. carrytheload.com

@@seamusmatthewson1360 , God bless you Seamus. You've got quite a story to tell. God could use your experience to minister to others. I can't imagine the strength it must have taken to survive what you've been through. I would suggest finding a good church, that teaches the true Word of God, as it is written. Avoid the churches that preach what we want to hear. Find a mature Christian mentor, or several, who can disciple you, and help you in your walk. I believe God has a plan for you, and He can use you in a powerful way, if you let Him. I'll pray for you that He will give you the strength to submit to His will, and be used to help others, and to help you heal from the past.

We forget sometimes that famous people have real life heart ache and sadness. You are so real and honest and it touches so many of us. We are carrying your cousin too. You, Bart, have had such a tremendous impact on my 10 year old son's life. We've had some pretty rough times over the past year (homeless, briefly), and he has struggled a lot. I remind him what led to you writing "I can only imagine" and "Even if". It Really helps him! He was required to write a biography of someone famous that influenced him for the final project of fourth grade. He picked you! I am so proud of him and he did such a great job. I just wish I could let you see it. We got to see MercyMe last year in Cincinnati and it was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. He has a beautiful voice and wants to be a Christian singer, just like you. Thank you for all that you do. You are a messenger of the Word, and you reach so many people especially when they need it the most. We are truly grateful for your music! God Bless all of You!
