That sustained note Gary holds was Gary actually experiencing a creative block. He held the key with intent to create a progression, but didn't know where to take it. That held note is literally Gary thinking "what comes next?" Love seeing you both loving your re-found affection for Gary's music. Those smiles do not lie 😁😁😁

A big shoutout to all the drummers in all groups. I feel like they do not get enough recognition. They are the hardest working members and without them all the music wouldn’t be the same. Sorry that thought just came to me and had to share. ❤️🤘🇦🇺

Fun facts: 1) Gary Numan once opened for Nine Inch Nails a few years back 2) NIN's amazing guitarist Robin Finck has toured with Numan and his band, and is also prominently featured in Numan's album Splinter. The guy's amazing (and a nice guy)

I saw Frank Zappa in Chicago in 1988. Sting was there and they performed ' Murder by Numbers. That saying at that concert is on the ' Broadway the Hard way cd. It is very good

Gary has long considered his voice to be a weakness, not a strength. He would therefore intentionally bury it in the musical mix and/or just not really experiment much with it. Then Ade Fenton came along. Ade has produced Gary's last four albums and has persuaded him to emphasize his vocals, and made sure they were prominent in the mix. And that's why you're hearing such amazing vocals in his later work = and for most of us loyal fans, our reaction is a simple "it's about time!" :)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned, or if you have found it yourself, but back in the mid Aughts Gary released a double cd of his earlier catalog remixed to be closer to his modern sound. The Rolling Stones are a bitch on copyright- even for covers. This is a large part of the reason we avoid them. Same with The Eagles
