The ‘Gary mix’ of this song from Hybrid is the best version, in my opinion. A heartbreakingly sad song, you really feel his pain at his wife’s miscarriages.

The lyrics are what make the song! It’s a tragedy. He’s singing about a lost child. He is cursing God. This song is so powerful and deep in emotion. As a Christian, it was hard to take in. As a father, I understand! Great song!!!

Thanks guys. Just to give you some background to this song. Before Gary and Gemma had their 3 daughters Raven, Persia and Echo, they actually lost their first child. This song was written questioning what God is after the loss of her. It is regularly used in his live shows and can be quite emotional.

A stunning live song. The original was written back in 2000 and is a very personal song hence some heartfelt lyrics. This version isn't Gary's original arrangement but I love both versions. Keep up the great work and more Numan whenever you feel like it!

The guitar player is Mark Gemini Thwaite. I saw this tour. His regular guitarist, Steve Harris had to fly back to the UK for a family emergency. MGT has played with a lot of greats: The Mission, Peter Murphy and recently with Big Paul Ferguson of Killing Joke.

Hi you beautiful people 😁 This version is different from the (Pure) album original, but is the one he performs as a staple setlist regular year on year. It's a very personal song about the miscarriage of gary and Gemma's expected first born. I saw Gary's show in Manchester England in 2001 touring the 'Pure' album and he performed (the original) version of this. When he finished, there was an unearthly silence, probably more out of shock of him playing this given the subject matter of his recent heartbreak. Gary looked up and quietly said "Thank you" to the crowd who then went nuts ♥️

Interesting. I'd like to suggest one that this song reminded me of: Saltatio Mortis - Spur des Lebens. ("trace of life") A lovely song, and despite the German lyric, I think you'd get the gist. "My trace of life, my little light in the wind Are you prepared for these times, my unborn child My trace of life, in this dark time My little spark of hope, my immortal piece"

The Replicas Live version is the best in my opinion. I’d try ‘The Chosen’ next, then ‘here in the black’. Both are epic.

I used to like APTFU until he played it as part of an encore on every tour since Pure. It's become utterly tiresome and he doesn't even play his original version he uses Andy Gray's backing tracks.
