The fact that some of you guys thought "the good old days" meant anything to do with the slave era is pretty sad. You know this song is about unity, but it felt like you misinterpreted the lyrics just to make the song sound bad.

The bible is amazing. Written by several authors, each book is a different Author, yet every one is confirmed through history itself. they also confirm each other. God is great.

Hey guys, when some people, like Adam, say they long for the old days, they don't mean everything about the old days. Obviously, we don't want the old days for black people, that was messed up in every kind of way. We want the old days when people were left alone to be themselves. We want the old days when people weren't so quick to label each other. We we long for the old days where people seemed to have more common sense and people cared more for one another than they do these days. In the old days (for me, 30 or so years ago) me and my family loved everyone equally. Racism was actually not as bad in the 80's as it is today. Im not a huge Adam fan myself, trust me, I don’t think he’s that skilled, however - When he said “the good ole days” he means 2005 even 2010 - when you could have a discussion and not be called racist immediately. When white people say “the good ole days” 99% of us are not talking about 1978, and certainly not 1878. we aren’t thinking that far back, especially when most of us weren’t here. His stepdad grandfather is one of the all-time great country singers, Waylon Jennings (RIP). Sad you think America isn’t your country. I’m white and in my eyes it’s the country for all here legally. I believe he is talking about the Founding Fathers who founded the Country. They weren't perfect by any means, but they did found The United States of American Constitution and The Bill of Rights (that's a separate but extremely important Bill). Also, from the way you guys answered, you vote like me. For what's best for you and America. Just how General George Washington wanted all Americans to be like. He never wanted political parties. The founding fathers may have been imperfect, but so are we. The ideas they laid out, those of liberty, individual rights, and a government that is supposed to protect those rights are concrete, and the people whom wrote those words knew all too well their failings as men. England forced slavery upon all the colonies, and the first places in the history of the world to ban slavery outright were by those people who landed at Plymouth Rock and their children as the New England colonies were founded. Importation of slaves was one of the first things to be outlawed by the founders and those who wrote the Declaration of Independence had included slavery being one of the most egregious acts carried out by the King of England onto the colonies, but in the context of the time it was either all 13 colonies in it together, or America is never founded, so the slavery part was removed as to not give the King or Parliament an opportunity to divide and conquer the colonies. Slavery was dying out after the revolution until Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin which turned cotton into a labor intensive crop, to one that could be mass produced, then the country divided itself for 30, killing each other by the thousands, then America went and sacrificed hundreds of thousands of lives in the Civil War to end slavery and to try and make this country what its fathers promised it to be.

As always I enjoyed your reaction. The good old days I think that Adam said was referring to before cancel culture went crazy and we all could have a conversation without people getting butt hurt and before censorship going wild. And yes, in my opinion you all have been promised life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, although it took way too long to include everyone in that. There are still problems like racism but to me this song is about how the government/elites are exacerbating those problems and getting us all to argue - we are easier to control if we are at each other's throats rather than working through our real issues. Nothing gets solved when people are shouting each other down instead of talking & finding common ground. Look at all the things we argue about, race, religion, masks, vaccines, right down to cow methane gas...it's all stuff that could be improved the more we talk/listen to each other but they don't want that. I've said I wish we could go back to the way things were before. I've never heard anyone say that in any other way than how I mean it. We wish things could reset so that we can have different opinions without cancelling people we don't agree with. I wish we weren't thinking that everyone who disagrees with our opinions do so because they are evil. I miss civil and honest discourse. That's how we learn. But lately, even in debates I've seen one side saying horrible things because they have wrapped themselves up in a cloak that is an oppressed minority say horrible things. They do this comfortable in the knowledge that they won't be called out. And they know that if their opponent lashes back in anger at the disrespect they will be cancelled. That's no way to try to come to an understanding. Both sides must see each other as equals in a debate. The same rules must apply to all. It's the only way forward. Yes...the old days were NOT good for everyone. My stepfather was black...in 1963...and I REMEMBER how he was treated by some...not by all- but by some... and I remember how much it hurt because this man was better than our own white father. Since you didn't know who Struggle was, I'll tell you. First, he's white and his family is of Jewish descent. Yes, Struggle Jennings is his professional name but it's to honor his family (back to that..). He was born 5-31-1980 as William Harness. Now..he comes from old country music rebel royalty. His Grandmother is Jessi Colter (country singer) and his biological grandfather was Duane Eddy, a guitarist. They had a daughter Jennifer Eddy. Then in 1969 Grandma Jessi married Waylon Jennings (country music singer, "outlaw country"). Waylon had 5 children already and Jessi had her daughter by Duane Eddy and then together they had a son, Shooter Jennings. Shooter is also a country music singer, and kept the outlaw country of his parents alive. Jennifer considered Waylon to be her father as well as Duane Eddy since Waylon was the one around raising her and added his name to hers; Jennifer Eddy Jennings. She was also musical though it took her a while to find her place in singing and song writing. She gave birth to William Harness (Struggle Jennings) at 16 years old but details on Harness (Struggle's father) are scarce. He left the mother early on and was killed when Struggle was 10. Jennifer liked bad boys (Struggle's dad being one) and had lots of rough relationships which was hard on Struggle. Jennifer didn't want to live off of her family's money and name and left home young and she and her son ended up living in really rough areas. Struggle grew up loving hip-hop and rap as well as country but rap was definitely his thing. It spoke to him because of where he lived and how he lived. Unfortunately he ended up getting into lots of trouble as a teen and into adulthood, selling drugs and fighting even after he started making music. He ended up spending 5 years in prison, and his 7 kids spent much of that time in foster care due to their mom's addiction problem. He realized in prison that his whole mentality was wrong and came out of it a sober and better person who fought hard to gain custody of all 7 of his kids. He continued to make music and became successful, if not mainstream. Waylon Jennings died in 2002 which hurt Struggle a lot since they were very close. He'd been using the name Jennings since childhood because of his and his mom's love for Waylon so it's not just a professional name, it's personal. His Grandmother Jessi is still alive and colabs with him some as does his mother Jennifer. Now his daughter Brianna Harness is a singer as well and has done many songs with her father. The "Struggle" name is a professional name and is a nod toward his Uncle Shooter Jennings. Struggle is a very dedicated dad and musician. I'm putting a link here of Struggle ft. The only issue with those that don't pick a side is that not picking a side can do as much damage as picking the wrong side. I'm a libertarian, but have more conservative views. That being said I have plenty of tree hugging everybody be nice to everyone views too. We can't be complacent when it comes to big issues. The government needs to change and our generation needs to change it before they get too much control over us.
