It’s amazing how the thin black fondant really turned this cake into a ‘cartoon cake.’ I’m amazed at how you came up with this idea and it’s just super darned cute. I’ve watched every video you’ve made and ALWAYS learn something new.
you and another person have convinced me that cartoon cake is what i'm doing for my daughter this year. It's hard to choose for her because she's a gamer. I've done the zelda, mario, minecraft blah blah things. So this is the one :) it looks amazing
Lol I did not notice the missing black line till u said it.. lol, thank u you for giving out pricing on cakes gives us a great idea on what to charge.. love your videos!
This is the best cartoon cake I've seen by a mile! The thin black fondant is genius and looks SO good! The amount of work gone into this cake is insane; for anyone who ever thinks bakers charge too much 🙄 they should try and make one of these cakes and see how long it takes!
Thank you sooooo very much for how wonderful of a job you do with your instructions. You explain so well and even if you repeat (I do to when I teach so it doesn't bother me one bit) but I'm a total newbie so you have taught me sooooooo much more tonight watchingnthis vidwo.....I cannot wait to watch more videos
Very beautiful cake and by the way just to let you know I made your buttercream for Christmas it was amazing delicious not to sweet just what i wanted thank you so much for your tutorial
Firstly I Want To Say, Happy New Years To You And Your Family!!! Secondly I ❤ This Trend!!! The Black Trim Makes It Pop!!! Oh Lastly I Just Want You To Know, Hunny Your Buttercream Recipe Is THE TRUTH!!! I Made Two Batches And Giiiirl I Couldn’t Stop Eating It!! You Have Changed My Mind Completely About Salted Butter In Buttercream, Thank You So Much For Sharing Your Knowledge With Us Especially Those Who Are Into The Cake Business…
Yessss!! I have been using this recipe forever. I love it, my customers love it. And it's so easy to make! I love the salted butter because it cuts down on the sweetness! I'm so glad you like it 💜🙏
I love watching your videos. You make such clean and perfect cakes. You remind me of Yolanda Gamp, my fellow Canadian professional cake decorator and you tuber as well from How to Cake it I believe😊
Gorgeous cake! Certainly levelled up all expectations and my own skills by watching this. I learned from this video to properly support even small cakes on the de one tier.
Yes! I get nervous even stacking lightweight cakes on top, they still need some support. Especially if they have to travel on a bumpy road and / or if it's hot outside!
As always Adorable. Love this trend. Still a bit scared to try it lol. Fixing to try and find the Fondant Press to make tiny lines lol. I might try it then
@@KarolynsKakes 😂😆🤣😄 good tip to have before hand lol. I have seen so many different versions of this, to which some is in Buttercream frosting, instead of fondant. But I think piping the black line would be just as straining as squeezing that fondant clay gun lol
I'm with you Philly girl. Jimmies all the way. Love the way you transformed a slice of cake into a cartoon looking cake. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
20:27 I loved the way that cartoon cake came out. I am to much of a beginner to make cakes as advanced as the one you made. However if I keep watching your videos any thing is possible!
Karolyn you read my mind❗ i wanted to ask you to make a tutorial of a comic or pop art cake. I had my nails polished in this fashion a few months ago. Your cake is absolutely charming! You are so talented. Cake decorating has become my new hobby. I have learned so much from you. I love your videos. When are you going to offer memberships? I will certainly join. You could possibly offer special videos to members only. There is so much you can do. But anyways thank you so much for the comic cake video!
I have loved watching your videos, I’m just starting out on my cake, decorating journey and have watched hours and hours of videos and yours are the ones I keep coming back to. Thank you so much, this cartoon cake was absolutely adorable!
I have not made this cake but my grandson just turned "1" and my son and daughter in law did a nightmare before Christmas and asked me to make the smash cake. I have been decorating for years but have NEVER used fondant. I made a Jack Skellington cake and used all the tips I watch you use INCLUDING your fondant recipe and it turned out great ... thank you for being so kind and sharing your knowledge and gift for us all to learn...so generous. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and the New Year is great to you ... thank you again :) and this cartoon cake looks great amazing as always!
This is an amazing tutorial video! I've been watching this cartoon cake trend for a few months and had to check out your channel first to get all the info on how to create one myself! Super cute and can't wait to try it out :)
Amazing! ❤ I just hit like before I watch your videos now because I know they are always so good! This was so much work, but it has the perfect cartoon result. You make it look so easy. Perfection!
This is a fun cake and I love your interpretation of the cartoon cake trend.❣ Thank you for sharing all the tips you have learned along your cake journey.
I just want to say you’re by far the best baker I’ve watched and subscribed to! Your engagement with your viewers is phenomenal! Thank you for sharing your tips, tricks and decorating ideas and everything else! 😊❤
One of the things I have struggled with the most since I started baking is trying to figure out what brands are good and what brands are not really. There are SO many choices because of the Internet. If you watch just a few different people's videos, they all seem to use something different. I think my main area of frustration is about coloring, i.e., powder dusts, gel colors, edible markers, air gun, shimmer colors vs. spray shimmer, etc. The second area is definitely what brand of emulsions and extracts to use. Will you please address these two areas in an upcoming video, Karolyn? Thanks!
Right now in Philly, it's like 25 degrees (F). So it's freezing here. That's why I love the Winter! It's cold and no humidity and my cakes don't sweat! If it's hot where you are, you have to control the environment where you decorate (keeping it air conditioned). Here's a video where I explain: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vBKi-O7v98w.html
Karolyn you are simply amazing. I’m thinking of trying this just to see if I can do this. You make it look sooooo easy and I know it’s not 🤣. I pray you had a wonderful holiday season. Happy New Year 🎉
You definitely can use buttercream if you'd like. It would be faster. However, I personally have very shaky hands when it comes to writing on cakes. So it won't be clean and neat because the lines won't be as straight. It's difficult to keep even pressure when squeezing it out of the bag, so it may be bigger in some areas. And, sometimes the buttercream line breaks or has air bubbles in it and it messes up. Using fondant is much easier (for me) because you have the line and all you have to do it adhere it to the cake!
Roflmao I just started watching it again, and noticed the knife! I have one just like it. No clue how it became part of my knife collection, but it's my favorite. I have an electric Knife Sharpener, and that knife holds the sharpness the longest, so I use it more then the rest lol
@@KarolynsKakes 😂🤣😆😄😂🤣 too funny. I have a favorite paring knife as well, the only two I use and I have an entire draw full lol. I will dig, check everywhere for them... I have even stopped prepping until I find it. Not so hard now that there is only two ppl in my kitchen now lol
