And so we come to the fifth and final Cartoon Network tape I own. This one is also from February 2006, but it’s LATE February 2006. That makes all the difference.
We start off with the ending of a Robotboy episode, where Gus takes a nap, probably knackered from hosting Robotboy and the Island of Doom in the last tape. An overexcited continuity announcer tells us Cartoon Theatre is up next as the credits finish.
It’s here that we’re greeted with another Robotboy competition. (Jesus Christ - they’re hogging this for all it’s worth, aren’t they?) Then we find out that we’re in the middle of “Robotboy Week”, which makes things even worse. Why did Cartoon Network love this show so much? They act like it’s the work of God or something.
After a slightly different Xiaolin Showdown promo - they promise us it starts on Monday this time, not February 27th - it’s time for the AA team to return, but with a different advert. They’re still acting cool with funky music, but this time they’re helping out the general public… in the shower, which probably isn’t a good idea.
Unfortunately, Dogs Trust haven’t changed their advert, meaning we’re treated to more sob stories until we get to an advert with that classic line: “Have you had an accident that wasn’t your fault?” I wish they asked us if it WAS our fault for once. That’d be funny. Instead, we’re told how we can win lots of money and blah-blah-bloo-blah if we call Dial 4 a Claim now. Not tonight, not tomorrow, but NOW.
A bumper tells us we’re watching Robotboy Week (“YES!”) and we get to the start of a movie. What movie, you may ask? Well, it’s a film called Tom Sawyer, an animated adaptation of the classic tale where all the characters are replaced by cats, because… the animators had nothing else to do on a Sunday afternoon? I don’t know, but it’s not a very good film. If you’ve seen it, which you probably haven’t, you know what I’m talking about.

We definitely had the City era in the UK. I imagine almost all Cartoon Network regions had it.

@@BacktothePast UK, France, Germany, CEE (Central Eastern Europe), Portugal, Turkey, MENA (Middle East and North Africa), Africa, RSEE (Russia and South Eastern Europe) all fall under the region of EMEA which means Europe, Middle East and Africa and usually share branding, Content and distribution of Shows a so meaning if the UK had the City then all of EMEA did right?
